This game is ok but I would only recommend this on sale. Wish I could rate this as "meh".

The bugs are rare but noticeable. The one I found to be the most infuriating one is being unable to revive other players. Happens randomly but once it does, you can only fix it by getting a res kit or quitting and rejoining the game.

Which means you hopefully have friends to play with, with whom you also can agree on the play style because as much as the deck system helps in creating unique game play for each player, it also means that people whose builds are less damage based and more speed oriented will clash with the play style of those who prefer taking it slower while doing more damage.

To top this off the coop/matchmaking implementation could use a change. I would like to be able to start my own public online game with bots, which is not an option right now - you have to have at least one other player join you (however long that takes). It would be good to be able to select which map of the Act you want to join (or start on). I would like to have more Continues, as at the moment failing twice per map (on any difficulty) will send you back to the main area, erasing all Act progress. As frustrating as it is to restart a map, I would still prefer a chance to restart one map vs an entire Act. It would also be nice to be able to shop for items while others are getting ready.

I'm sure the game will get nerfed and buffed and re-organized as feedback pours in and that is another reason for waiting until it's on sale.

Definitely worth at least one playthrough. Simple but engaging story and characters with some awesome dialogue. Some mission dialogues are a bit cringe but for the most part I liked it; plenty of humour. One of my favourites from one of the companions:

Ellie [participating in live recording of an improv fight scene with real guns]: Can I shoot someone? Wait, are we the good good guys or the bad guys? Doesn't matter. I want to shoot someone.

The game mechanics take a bit getting used to, like: you can't do DLCs if you completed the main story. Luckily there's a message about it and a forced save point before you begin that mission so it's manageable.

The OST is also very atmospheric. Definitely helps with setting the mood and pace of the game. Might even buy the OST.

The DLCs are worth checking out too. Specifically the Murder on Erigonos one as its story is reminiscent of a mix of 50's scifi and 80's horror with a murder mystery twist; a lovecraftian like comedy. The Gorgon one was ok too but the map design there was uncomfortable to get around on and unlike the Murder one, there was at least 1 mission that required me to go back to a planet (unlike Murder which is set on 1 planet) where I was attacked on sight by originally friendly NPCs on account of me having shot an official there, I think; I shot someone. Having said that, it's still worth a playthrough for the story alone - also a lovecraftian comedy.

P.S. Llama.

Parenthood Simulator with zombies (and logic be damned - Predator like traps made and maintained by skinny, starving teenagers). Remember - aim for the head :D!
