Ok lets start by saying i had high hopes for this game and although i loved the demo i sort of feel cheated by the actual full release.
Now dont get me wrong this game is one that has production values that a lot of the bigger games would be envious of and the story in game is one i have not seen told in this medium before so far so good (BUT and there is a BUT,which we will come to shortly).
The graphics do an admirable job of putting the illusion forward that you are a baby exsisting in an adults world, and at times some of the things that frighten you wouldent do as an adult but when seen from a childs perspective are nothing more than terrifying.
The sound in game is top notch with your mum sounding like she really loves you (she has genuine concern in her voice, put forward brilliantly by the actor that plays her) and your character the baby sounds just like he should "GOOING" and "GAAING" at the right time in game but the character that steals the show is Teddy.
Taddy is voiced brilliantly and also potrayed really well in game with the graphics putting forward his floppy and, well just teddy like moves and attitude to perfection at times you will need his guidance as you can feel lost and listening to him helps you on the right track and also holding him close in dark areas helps comfort you and also light the way (literally).
The story is told really well and like i have said is (considering as your a baby in game) one i have not seen in this medium before and is very adult in nature and also quite harrowing the nearer you get to the end of the game, and come that point it all makes sense and like i have said is one that to be honest got to me and was quite upsetting.
So why did i say there was a BUT before, well its a great game but before you know it its all over and even though the game has a really good story and a satisfying ending you do feel cheated as the game is really short and by the time you come to the ending you will be like "IS THAT IT",now hopefully this can and should be addressed with DLC (and the DLC should be free as the main game itself is very expensive).
So do i recommend this game well yes its unlike anything you have played before but it will also leave you wanting more and is just to short at the asking price,so if unlike me you have patience wait for a sale and pick it up then as it will be better value for money when its at least half the price it is at the moment.

"OK,OK I CAN DO IT JUST ONE MORE GO" i told myself yet again "AARRGGHHHHHHHHHH OK JUST ONE MORE GO I CAN GET THAT LAST PIG AND GET THE MAXIMUM SCORE" and this is how it allways is when i play this amazingly frustrating game.
Ok i will admit i bought this one for my daughter never having played an angry birds game ever before and not really knowing what all the fuss was about i downloaded and she started to play and then said "DAD do you want a go i'm stuck on this part of the game",now because she thinks i am rather good at games (thats what she thinks,on-line shooters and games like DOTA i am complete pants at) she thought i would get her past this rather tricky point in the game.
So up i stepped to take this mother down and to my complete shock i was absolutely stumped, not on doing the level she was on but actually doing it and getting 3 stars so she could perfect the level. So i tried again and again to do it and 2 hours later i had done it "YAY" and then the next level started and that was it i was hooked.
And thats the beauty of this game its so dam addictive, the graphics in game are nice and the sound is done to a top standard but its the game play in this game that grabs you and refuses to let go of you until you give it all your time to perfect those levels and dont do and it mocks you and laughs and sneers at you in disgust (NO it doesnt but sometimes i swear i heard the game laughing at me-could have been my lack of sleep and pure frustration in not being able to perfect that level to be honest-NO IT WASENT-YES IT WAS NOW SHUT IT AND ACCEPT IT).
So would i buy other angry bird games if they were available on steam, well yes i would and i would thoroughly enjoy playing them and probablly get just as frustrated with those as i have with this.
Allthough i will be honest thats all part and parcel of the charm of these games and to be honest if they were any other way then i dont think i would either get any enjoyment out of them or want to even play them again.

"Here i find myself in the midst of chaos, but everything breaks if exposed to enough pressure" listening to that and watching the static cinema that came with it i thought i was in a "MAX PAYNE" game, but no i was in the rather enjoyable and action packed shooter that is "SPLATTER : BLOOD RED EDITION".
Ok when you start to play you wake up in your house and after some rambling to yourself wander of outside,*BANG* bullets everywhere and the army telling you to get of the street you follow them and then you get to find your first weapon the obligatory hand gun (which has infinite ammo,of course it does DUH).
As the game progressess you gain acess to more powerfull and impressive weapons (shotgun, rocket launcher ECT) and trust me when i tell you,you are going to need them as some of the boss battles and even some of the normal battles (you do get over run at times) get quite hard and the enemy can overwhelm you if you use the wrong weapon.
Now the most easiest and best way to help from getting overcome is to throw a flare, see the dark abomination's you face have a fear and total dislike of the light ("wonder where we have seen this game play element before" "i dont know ALAN,WAKE up") which can give you time to re-gather your thoughts and blow them away whilst they scuttle away from the bright and painfull light that encompasses them. This game play mechanic is one that you will use to your advantage on numerous occasions and will save your neck more than once.
As the game plays on you will encounter some puzzles but they are usually of the push button variety and are allways easy to overcome and you will never feel lost as to what to do next and this is a good thing as the action should (and does) take a front seat to all else in game.
The graphics in game do a good job and for this sort of game handle really well with no lag no matter how many enemies are on screen (shouldent be in this sort of game),the music in game is good but at times you do find that the spoken dialogue is overshadowed by the music or the gunfire happening in game (minor quibble but i did miss out on some conversations due to this).
The story and script are both good and at times you do feel like you are in a different game (MAX PAYNE anyone),but at times it does feel all a little B-MOVIE but actually this is not a bad thing and does suit this game right down to the ground.
Will you play this game and would you want to even buy it,well enjoy a game that is all bang for its buck and want something that will itch those trigger finger blues then i would say yes,if that doesnt sound like you and you want more from your game than gun blasting action then i would say look elswhere.
In my humble opinion this is one enjoyable blast and i would fully reccomend it just dont expect it to be one of the best games you have ever played just one of the best blasters you have ever played and enjoy it for what it is "ONE HELL OF A BLASTING GOOD TIME"

This is one game i went into wanting to like and trust me when i say i did,i "REALLY DID".
The graphics really suit this game and do a good job of portraying the lifeless nature of a barren planet devoid of all life and the vistas and sites you will see in game would not look out of place in a full blown sci-fi film (hope someone takes note as this would make one of the best sci-fi films ever),the sound does a really good job of putting you in the position of being the astronaut stuck on the lifeless planet with the weird sound effects and music that you hear at times doing all they can to portray that lifeless feeling of loneliness the game is aiming for.
The story is really entertaining and very mysterious (and pure sci-fi gold) and at times lost me a little (but in the best of ways),lets just say you are on a mission from which there is no return to a planet that could sustain life, you have lost all contact with the other crew members you came down to the planet with,so alone you then discover that you dont have enough oxygen in your tank and so you wander of to find some (and the other crew members) as your tank only holds so much and it has run out (right at the start of the game-HELL thats considerate) and this game play mechanic comes into play a few times through the game and some of these times it can be quite nerve wracking as you wonder if you will find that next oxygen tank to get your levels back upto normal (they are usually somewhere near but can be a pain to find as you run out of that life sustaining O2).
As you play you come across various puzzles that need solving for you to progress and most of the time these are quite easy to solve (some of them stumped me quite a bit though i must admit),and this is where the robotic arm comes into its own.
This device offers you the chance to reach out of place switches and also reach those heavy out of place item's you just wouldent get to without it,which in turn then leads to the robotic arm then helping to solve that puzzle that has been getting on your nerves for the last 30 minutes.
Your booster pack also plays a huge part in the game and without it you just wouldent get past those really hard platforming areas to get access to the next area and therefore uncover more of the mystery that this planet holds.Your booster only has a limited boost capability (normally just one charge) and can only boost you once so in some of the situations you find yourself in you need to go and find the special tank that provides you with those extra charge's you need,so instead of one boost charge you can have upto between 4 or 6 which really helps out with those hard to do areas that without these extra charges you just would not over come.
Lets get back to the story (dont worry wont give anything away),the script that accompanies the game as you play is one that kept me fully hooked and i must admit that i havent come across such good writing in a game in a long time,as it turns and twists its way right up until one of the best and most satisfying endings it has been my privalige to play through to get to in what seems like a life time of playing games.
In summing up this game would you enjoy it well answer the following questions and make your own mind up--
1 - Would you like to play a game unlike anything you have played before and which also has one of the best and most engrossing storylines any game has had in quite some time ??
2 - Are you a huge SCI-FI game fan who is looking for that something different and unlike any other SCI-FI game you have ever played ????
If you answer yes to both of the above what are you waiting for buy this game now,and if not then you will be missing out on not just one of the best sci-fi games ever made, but in this reveiwers humble opinion one of the best games that the medium has seen in quite some time.

"WHAT THE FUNK" had to start the review with that phrase from the game it just sum's it all up really.
OMG I really cant explain in word's just how funny this game actually is and all the grind house reference's are easy to see from the grainy camera and bad voice acting to the terrible script its all part of what make's this game what it is and that put simply in one word is..........AWESOME!!

House of the Dead : Overkill - Story Trailer - YouTube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4TUFkapM_Y

Now that's not a word I use when describing games very often (If at all to be honest) but for this one it just seem's to fit right in with the way that this game play's,the language is really bad in this game but again it just wouldn't be right without it (especially the joke right at the end of the game------wont spoil it just experience it and I promise you wont either A - forget it or B - stop laughing for quite a while, but it sure is one HELL of a rude joke).
The graphic's in the game really suit this game and seem to if anything make it better as does both the soundtrack and the voice over's,G and agent WASHINGTON'S relationship is pure comedy gold and one of the best partnership's i have seen in any medium whether it be a video game or film on at the cinema.
The level's are fun and just get better as the game progresses from a strip joint to a circus to a jailhouse (!!PURE GRIND HOUSE THAT LAST ONE!!).

Making of The House of the Dead: Overkill - Part 1

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcvEG3yWKxg

I do find that sometime's you miss out on what's going on,on screen when playing the typing of the dead as you find yourself looking down at the key's trying to type out that word "OLDMANSWHISKEY" and when you look back up you have another word to type "GETTHEFUNKOUT" and it sometime's seem's like you are just staring at the keyboard, which is why I am glad they included the original version (I actually enjoy the normal version's on all the house of the dead games over the typing equivalent's,but for the love of god if you havn't seen it please don't even bother with the UWE BOLL film as it was total utter garbage..........but then again aren't all his so called movies).

House Of The Dead Full Movie Trailer - YouTube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaF3dN_fVfY

This for me is where all the fun lie's with this game as you can actually play and enjoy the scene's,and what's going on in general without having to stare down at the keyboard all the time and in the process usually ending up getting attacked whilst yet another word comes up you cant see as you are looking at your keyboard.
I have finished both version's of the game and found the normal version to be more what this game is all about and all though I like playing the typing version I don't think I will play it again and that I will find myself sticking with the normal version.

Well i saw this game and my first immpresion was "OH they made a new STAR WARS game set in the cantina on mos eisley about shufllepucks" (it was the dancer that tricked me).
Anyway i was wrong but someone on the development team must be a STAR WARS fan,i mean look at the dancer pure STAR WARS anyday and the same can be said of what a few of the others characters look like to.
Anyway i must say i love this game its such an easy game to get into but it will take a while to master it and get used to all the games little quirks. You start of having crashed into the desolate planet (and you completely wreck your ship) that the cantina is on and from there you proceed to the only building in sight which happens to be the cantina. To get of this rock you must play shufflepuck against the inhabitants of the cantina and win, therefore earning coin to buy better pucks and other equipment and in the process also earning medals and also the right to buy profile pages on the competitors. Now you need to buy all these to challenge the characters to a shufflepuck duel to earn their spaceship piece and therfore get back home to good old EARTH (think thats where you come from, never do you take your helmet of so anyone could be under there even good old ALF who knows).
The graphics are good for such a small download and so to is the music and the only thing that lets it down is the story-there isnt really one just to earn the spaceship parts and leave.
I like this game most because like most of my favorite games of late i just found the time passing by whilst playing and then going "OH IS IT THAT TIME ALLREADY" and it is just so addictive it has that one more go factor thet pulled me in.
Still i cant get STAR WARS out of my head even when i think of this game but never mind.
If you want a game that will slowly but surely creep under your skin with its addictivness then buy this game as HELL it did that to me.

"WELCOME TO THE 99 LEVELS TO HELL",ok got that out of my system and now on with the review. This is one game i was looking forward to when it was first announced and i must say that having play'd the final version i am not one bit dissapointed with the end product.
Ok graphics wise this game is really competent at what it set's out to do and the graphics style really does suit the game, the music is both dark and at times (especially when the ghosts appear) has a sudden urgency to it,the dialouge in game is also really good (what there is of it) and helps to give you some clue as to what is going on and the game play mechanics in game all really work well and if you die it wont be due to the game but your lack of either time playing the game (learning attack patterns and how the different weapons and power ups work) or concentration whilst playing (i know happened to me on one of the boss levels,my wife shouted "your foods ready" i looked away and said "Ok i'm coming in a moment" then i died ARRRRGGGHHHHH).
As you progress through the game you will learn what the various enemies do and how they attack (some on sight will hunt you down and others will float about whilst firing at you and yet others will get near you and then "BOOM" explode ECT) and as you watch and learn so you will get better at the game and not die so often, this is never more the case than when fighting against a level boss.
Some are rather easy and predictable and others are rather devious and not so predictable and yet when fighting against others the sheer number of on screen allies the boss has and can summon can be nothing short of an annoyance (trust me in a good "I HAVE TO BEAT THIS DAMN BOSS" sort of way) and also prove to (in some cases) be to much to deal with at times unless your tooled up.
Now this brings me to POWER UPS and the different character classes, there is 4 character classes to choose from which range from the "MAJOR" to the "DRAGON" with all the characters offering different weapons and therefore a choice of which to take into the game when you play (some are better suited to certain levels as the sniper gun fires one bullet at a time and the machine gun fires multiple times but seems to lack as much of a kick),all the characters bar the first one have to be found and set free from the cages they are in (with a bomb if you have one-if not find one as the more characters you have the easier the game will be).
Now on to power ups, they range from the usefull to the down right bizarre,my favorite power up is the (what i call) "DEMON UMBRELLA" this little demonic umbrella takes you from where you are right to the end of level boss and this is ok if your tooled up but not if your "NOT",having said that it gives you ample oppurtunity to test out the boss and learn a little of their attack patterns and how to deal with them (helped me on one occasion with an ♥♥♥ of a boss "DAMN YOU,YOU FLOATING EYE THINGY"),but by jumping like this you do stand a chance of missing out on leveling up your character and also not finding the elusive other characters.
The other power ups range from a torch (which helps in the dark-pretty useless really on most levels),fireball that floats around your character and fires out a fire ball every time you shoot your gun,ice ball which preety much does the same as the fire ball except its ice instead, the bubble gun which surrounds the enemy in a bubble and sends them skyward, the poisen arrow gun (which does exactally what it says on the tin),weapon strength power ups which power up the strength of your weapon (OMG I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT WAS OBVIOUS DUH) to other usefull and often weird and strange power ups.
When you do beat an end of level boss (comes around the 9th level mark of each seperate level) you will not have to start the game right from the begining like you do if you die before reaching and defeating said boss, thats why when you fight a boss your praying that you beat them so you dont have to start that level to get right back up to the boss again (thats where the "DEMON UMBRELLA" comes in handy),but defeating a boss feels just how it should ("HA HA HA HA HA i beat you,you mother...................." less of that language kids may be present) and gives you a sense of acheivement and the knowledge that your getting just that little bit better at the game.
So in closing i reccomend this game to anyone out for a good, challenging game that will test both your skills as a gamer and your patience as a gamer also ("AAAARRRRRGGGHHHH you bloody game, your cheating me i beat that boss WWWAAAHHH wheres my dummy") and at the price its at why are you waiting and if you do buy the game "WELCOME TO HELL BBUUWWWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

Ok here is a game i have no problem in reccomending to anyone.
Great story, great graphic's,great voice over's and a fantastic script all go toward's making this game one that even though i have finished i will return to again and again as its play style is different enough and its story pulled me in to the point where i actually want to start from the begining right now.

CONTRAST: LAUNCH TRAILER - YouTube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcbXPYygyC8

The story is really mysterious as i was wondering who the main character was near enough all the way upto the ending (wont say as it will spoil the whole thing-but trust me i didnt think that she was who she was until the very ending),the whole atmosphere that this game create's puts you exactally where it aims to put you in the 1920's and really does do a good job with the music and graphic's which really make you beleive the game take's place in that time period.
"KAT'S" theme is a highlight and show's just how much an actual score can help a game to immerse you in the time period they are aiming for and the rest of the music and score in game follow's suit and all help's to create that illusion whilst playing.

Contrast Soundtrack: MAIN THEME - KAT'S SONG (ft Laura ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cB_RzlqbV98

The game play element of using the shadow's as stepping stone's and other mean's of progression work's really well and at time's some of the puzzle's involving the shadow's can get quite tricky (it's been done before in some vein or other, but never this well),if i have one complaint its just that sometime's you think you have made a jump or climb and you feel that the game is somehow stopping you-but beleive me on closer inspection its either you havent set the puzzle up right or you are just mis-timing your jump's (but it does feel like the game play mechanic's are not working at that point and are working against you but beleive me they are'nt).

SPOILER ALERT*****VIDEO MAY CONTAIN SOME STORY ELEMENT'S YOU HAVENT FOUND OUT YET DEPENDING ON WHAT POINT YOUR AT IN THE GAME*****SPOILER ALERT

Contrast shadow gameplay - PS4 - YouTube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyqL8xY1beo

Like i have said the story is really good and is really about the little girl DIDI and her journey and how DAWN (your character) helps her progress through the levels and eventually to the conclusion of the story, that is both a facinating journey and an alltogether well rounded and well put together peice of entertainment.
I will say that the game is rather on the short side and unless you enjoy it as much as i did then after you finish it will be another game that will gather dust as its a single player game and when you finish you FINISH,but if like me you enjoy a good story with great gameplay and are looking for something a little different then go spend some time with this game and believe me you wont be dissapointed.

Well bought this game because it was on offer and didnt really know what to expect.
Now i know its had some terrible reviews and to be honest when i first started playing i really didnt know what i was doing and i could'nt really get into it.But then something happened,i found myself getting into the game and i actually started to understand what was going on (still learning now to be honest).
The graphics are really not that bad (not up to the standard of some games though) and the music is ok and the voice acting-well dont really know as the voice overs are'nt in English (it gets put up on screen for you to read-and set your resolution high enough or it will just look muddy).
In game the missions vary from defending a raider hacking a console whilst keeping creatures (that look like they belong in a RIDDICK movie) at bay to planting explosives to hacking consoles. The main problem is that the game only starts to give away some of its quirkier and more helpfull gear and items the more time you put in (so like me if i had given up after a short play time i would'nt like the game like i do now) and trust me some of this gear is really helpful in later missions (the cloak and vision enhancements are really important and usefull in doing missions and not getting noticed),but all these things cost money. You earn this by downing enemies and doing certain things whilst in level, from assasinations to hacking certain consoles and trust me the more you can earn the better (WELL OF COURSE DUH).You then spend this at the main hub where you receive missions and can do so with the medic (cyber enhancements like cloak and the vision ability that lets you see the enemies through walls),gunseller (new and better weapons,"YEAH NO KIDDING") or the guy in the library that sells basically cyber enhancements that behave like magic.I have found that some levels are quite a challenge and that early on you will die a fair few times until you get good enough (or have enough enhancements) to best the level, dont worry you do get 9 chances in the forms of the "RESORECTOR" which makes you rise where you fell and continue from there.
I quite like the story (what i can understand so far anyway) and i especially like the mysterious stranger who seems to know a lot more than he is letting on.
I think that like a lot of games if they arent accesible straight away then this puts a lot of people of,not me i have played and finished both DARK SOULS and DEMON SOULS numerous times and find that the less you know in games about whats going on its all the better as there is nothing more inquisitive than the will to explore and not have someone telling me what to do or hold my hand.
I do reccomend this game but only if you want to invest some time in it as it doesnt reveal all that it has to show in 1 sitting (unlike some other big shooters) and that the more you play the more you will learn and get to grips with it.

Now I love me a good shooter from time to time and especially one set in the good ole wild west but after the last game in the series "THE CARTEL" I must admit I was really worried that this game was going to be nothing but another shooter that was a throw away experience and just didn't match up to what I want from playing a game where I am a god to honest "GUNSLINGER".
So I started to play and was like OK I like the way your character first walks into town and tells his story and then we go into the flashbacks "OH NO" I thought but this is what makes the game stand out and become the great game it is.

Call of Juarez Gunslinger Launch Trailer - YouTube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5_9M60crGs

So you start off and at certain points SILAS will say something and then after you play that part of the game the game will then rewind back to before SILAS started speaking and then SILAS will say "Well actually it happen'd this way" and the game takes you down a different path or throws different enemies at you, this aspect made the game quite unpredictable at points and also quite funny as you realise that SILAS is either an out and out liar or at least has a touch of dementia creeping in there somewhere.
So apart from this rather unique game play mechanic what else is there, well the story is good (""NAY BRILLIANT TO SAY THE LEAST"") and the graphics do a good job in helping to put across the wild west setting (looked a little like you were in a graphic novel at some points),the music also does a great job of setting that western movie feeling (great soundtrack harks back to films like "Once Upon A Time In The West"..........well at least for me anyway!!) and the script is good as well and the story really pulls you in (although I did see what was coming at the end before it happened----well quite a bit before it did to be honest) and you want to know what happens to SILAS that you keep playing for just that little bit longer.

SPOILER ALERT*****DON'T WATCH IF YOU WISH TO DISCOVER THE ENDING FOR YOURSELF*****SPOILER ALERT

(The following video contains one ending from the game and although not my footage this was the ending in game I had also----there are 2 endings to actually see though based on what decision you make near the end of the game)

Call of Juarez Gunslinger Redemption Ending - YouTube

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkNbN6iKFWQ

I will also say that once you have done and finished with the solo campaign that there is still plenty to do ARCADE MODE,DUEL MODE and also being able to play the levels again to find all the nuggets of truth that you may have missed.
After "THE CARTEL" (Which I really didn't enjoy and does the "CALL OF JUAREZ" franchise no favours whatsoever) I was worried where the franchise would go but I am really glad to say that they took it in the right direction and I hope that the games they do after this one will follow suit and that the JUAREZ games continue to stay where they belong in the WILD WILD WEST.................YEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAA!!
