I've flip flopped a lot on this game, but I think I can now definitively say I don't find it much fun. I like the style, writing, and character design, but don't like the gameplay.

It's ok. I like how progression works, but the gameplay looks a lot cooler than it feels.

The original and best. None of the games inspired by it really come close to matching its charm, and each dlc only widens the gap.

Pretty good, but some of the redesigns suck. What the hell did they do to Chaos? Progression is mostly better than the first game, but some of it feel like padding. You have to unlock the wells of Charon, unlock them showing up between floors, and then unlock them being on the surface, and then also unlock them showing up between surface floors! I don't find the characters as likable, but I don't find them unlikable necessarily. The notable exception is Scylla who is perfect. So far there's about twice as many levels as the first game, and they do a good job of making them unique. Locked exits, big field levels with multiple rewards, a level centered around a hub, and even boats! I know this review is rambly and full of complaints but I really do like the game. I haven't stopped thinking about it since I started playing it!

Really good. It's nice to play a roguelike that I can beat on my first few tries, it's not over-reliant on meta progression upgrades or already knowing all the secrets. It's not a perfect game, but nothing about it is so bad I'd complain. Also, in addition to the roguelike shooter you also get a mini resident evil game, which I thought was pretty fun.

I've played more of the game now and felt the need to praise the meta progression. I said it wasn't reliant on it, and that's still true, but I REALLY like how it does it. You unlock curses from beating challenges or buying them from a demon, and each one offers a benefit and a draw back. Get an extra shop but the big monster chases you sooner, get rarer items but shops are more expensive, get a better starting weapon but fire all weapons slower. Each character also has 3 curse unique to them, which make them even more distinct. It's just a really fun way to up the ante without ruining the balance.

I'm just too dumb for this game, sorry.

Worth closer to 30 dollars instead of 40. Pretty good, but see if you can get it on sale.

The roster is great, and there's plenty of nice fan service and what ifs, but I hate the game part of the game.

A great idea for a game, executed well. GOTY 2024 and it's not even close.
