It's a gladiator manager. You can have a classic gladiator with sword and shield or with a halberd. Dere are other options too.

Still glitchy at a time of writing. Can have a lot of fun in the current state, but I'd suggest not to run iron born in case some of the game breaking bugs from the demo remain.

Glads with ranged weapons are available too, so you can have those as well!

I myself would prefer to battle for Gork & Mork, but battling in the name of emperor too is battling. I love battling!

Difficulty: After winning demo without getting hit a single time and obliterating the boss in a single turn, I started a campaign. I was taking the damage regularly and even lost one warrior early on. Starting group isn't really that well composed, but still. It is more difficult as I'd hoped and certainly poses a challenge to first time players regardless of general experience in strategy games. Probably too much for casual players and gaming journalists won't may not pass tutorial.

Atmosphere: All voice acting is in Russian which I slightly understand. I think the game in Slavic world is probably even better this way, but someone that doesn't catch a single word may feel left off. I often laugh at jokes I didn't laugh at before, it makes the game lively and I think it is exceptionally narrated.

Mechanics: An only thing I'll say about mechanics is that Spear Song doesn't throw your way 100s of mechanics that exist only for the sake of existing and making the game look loaded. The game is pretty simple but can be difficult and strategic, albeit I personally have plenty of room to increase difficulty.

This game could be fun, but it would need better way to interact with it and tooltips for status effects.

It's quite grim notion that the last hope of humanity is a young mushroom with glowing stone in her chest (Urannium?) who talks to crows. Perhaps, humanity ought to die out!

The game has well calibrated difficulties.

I always choose hardest difficulty in any game I play, then try to make it work. Every time I make it a little further but not too much.

There are some life improvement features which are missing and will bother you in later phases which I've only came close to such as outside of tournaments, your troops won't stay on the board. You have to place them again even if you use more or less the same formation each time...

I play on the maximum difficulty as any other game and I love how hopeless it feels. Goes perfectly with the story!

Rules look a little bit overwhelming if you are not fluent in DnD.
Other than that, I can not think of any downside. Its revolutionary in some aspects!

Me snatched up da game 'cause da fightin' looked right kunnin'. No letdown, no way! Can freeze dem gitz till they're ice, burn 'em up proper, or shower 'em with arrows. Bunch o' choppas to pick from too!

But da question sticks in me noggin: why da blokes who made dis game reckon Orcs be "addicted to fightin'". Ain't it a right 'ealthy pastime, like trudgin' through da wilds for dem humies?
