Wow, this was utterly delightful. How much did I pay for it? $0? Bargain of a lifetime. If you like mazes and puzzles in general, there are real treats hiding below the surface of this relatively small game.

I wanted to wait until I finished the game to leave a review but I'm just too excited and getting sidetracked by modding, so here it is.
Kitsune Tails is, as everyone on Earth will tell you, gay foxgirl Mario 3. And the base game is that, but with lots of new stuff mechanically (swimming is fun in the shark suit?!) and a story that riffs on Mario, but with a lot more character. It's made me laugh and it's made me cry.
The base game is also a blast for speedrunning from what I've tried playing fast. Slopes are absolutely broken in the best, most fun ways, and you can pick up so much speed and air in sections.
But then, there's modding. There's excellent documentation for modding (and for basic level editing, you can use Tiled, an established and well-documented editor) and just dipping my toes in, I'm seeing such depth from it.
When I added Kitsune Tails to my Steam wishlist three years ago, I could not have imagined this game being what it is. The team behind this game should feel unbelievable pride in what they've done here.
Absolutely incredible. 10/10. Easily worth the full $19.99 price tag.

EDIT at 74 hours: I just needed to gush some more and say that this is absolutely not gay foxgirl Mario 3. It's so, so much more. Easily one of my very favorite games of all time.

This was the first V Extension I've bought since the first one and I am completely blown away. I've already added over half the songs in the pack to my favorites. My absolute favorites on here are Hyper Drive, Stolen Memory, New World, & Weaponiz

Absolutely incredible shmup. I'm so-so on body horror, but this is somehow equal parts grotesque and beautiful. Every so often, I'm completely captivated by the spectacle of it all, even after playing through most modes multiple times.

I generally go for cute hard games like Celeste and Touhou (and just cute stuff in general), but something about grinding mountains of flesh with the killer Metal soundtrack of Mission Fallen really does it for me.

I would recommend this game for beginners and pros alike. The barrier for entry is very low but it's also engaging at a higher level.

Despite being touted as a "skeletal shmup", this game is quite beefy, with a ton to explore in the menus for ships and modes that offer very different experiences (though once you go Evil, you'll never go back).

10/10 Would chomp on skeletons again.

Until the other day, I hadn't played any Touhou photography games since Shoot the Bullet way back before this came out. After trying this game on a whim amid my very large Touhou collection, I remembered the magic.

If you're looking for an entry point as a beginner, this is probably not it. It's quite difficult, with no difficulty selection. But if you're experienced or just looking for a grind, this is a phenomenal game.

This is an incredible visual novel. Blending several mediums into one seamlessly, I think it's fair to call this a masterpiece. It's visually stunning and the writing is hilarious and quite clever. The world is fascinating and the characters are charming. It really just hits on all fronts. It's not a tear jerker (though I did cry at the end because I'm emotional).

I don't expect this would be everyone's cup of tea, but if you like dark humor and weird fiction, you might love this.

It's also kind of gay. Kind of. Very. But also only kind of.

Anyway, the last time I read a visual novel this good was 9,999 years ago.

10/10

As a huge When They Cry fan, I feel that this is up there with the other titles' first arcs. It's a little long-winded and repetitive, but really enjoyable with great characters and humor.

I believe in Phase 2.

Easy recommendation. What you get for free is hours of extremely satisfying puzzling. For $5 - $15 you unlock limitless possibilities. Seriously, if you love jigsaw puzzles, this is the whole package other than the tactile sensation. But the space you save in your living space is worth it. That and the fact that you can have limitless custom puzzles for the price of a single puzzle or less.
