it's a combination of a caravan trading game with an interactive novel. most of the events in the game are provided in novelized text, so you better enjoy reading and using your imagination, otherwise you won't find it fun.

the trading and caravan management is quite interesting. there are various factions to befriend with differing ideologies and competing interests. helping one faction will harm relations with their opponents but get you rewards. do you ally with one faction or do you stay neutral? will you employ slaves or free men to staff your caravan? will you obey the law, or work for criminal syndicates and smuggle contraband into the various cities?

over the course of the game, you can also recruit unique heroes that will fight in personal combat, and offer bonuses to your caravan if you promote them to caravan deputies. who you recruit and how you develop them is up to you.

good game so far.

if you're into survival & roguelike games such as cataclysm, project zomboid, dwarf fortress and unreal world, this game fits within that niche. for an EA title, the game is very playable. there's lots of character customization and career paths to choose from. i hope to see more in future patches. recommended.

This game is of insane value. You basically manage a big rig and a small party of characters, and earn a living trading goods and fulfilling contracts. There are supplementary activities like foraging, fishing and bounty hunting for additional resources and income. Your truck can be heavily customized to suit your playstyle. There is also an extensive crafting and material-gathering system. Most towns have a tavern where you can recruit NPCs with their own quirks and traits. Seriously, there are alot of features in this ridiculously-cheap game.

As an EA title, I haven't noticed that many bugs. The game is fully playable as far as I'm concerned.

STRONG RECOMMEND.

Rimworld meets Project Zomboid.

The game is kinda barebones in Early Access, but the foundation is solid and the devs are super-active.

You can choose to play on any map of a RL city. Every city/town/village poses its own unique challenges. If you choose to start in a major downtown area, you'll have access to more derelict buildings and resources, but hordes will be more numerous. Or you can settle in a village or suburb, and enjoy more bountiful amounts of wood to build your base, but you'll have to contend with a lack of people and vehicles.

The game isn't feature complete, unfortunately. Food production is limited to basic farming and chicken-raising. There's no ranching or foraging or fishing or hunting or trapping (methods of food production you'd expect in a post-apocalypse). You can't build buildings from scratch, you can only take over pre-existing derelict ones (which can be problematic if the layout is bad or you're in a low-density area). I feel that lore and base management can also be fleshed out more. All of your survivors are expendable, and there's no deep individuality (in contrast to other similar games like Rimworld).

There are quite a few bugs as well. I noticed a few quests / missions remained "incomplete" even though I finished every step. Having quest marks on your map with no actual quest is kinda annoying. It seems like a few buildings such as the barn cannot be demolished or re-adapted, so you're screwed about some base-design decisions if you want to change something.

The game also needs more QOL adjustments. The UI can feel a little clunky, and there's no "drag & select" when dealing with multiple squads. Say you have four squads and you want to attack a zombie horde. Instead of being able to drag & select all four squads with a single click, you'll need to individually click each squad and command EACH one to attack.

There's no diplomacy, trade, economy or faction relations, unfortunately. You do get missions and storylines against particular groups, but it's not deep and you're kinda railroaded. There's no laws or policies either, so every playthrough feels similar.

But I still find the game very fun. It's still in EA and the roadmap promises alot more features.

STRONGLY recommended for fans of other mercenary-management games like Mount & Blade, Battle Brothers and Battletech.

Just finished the first tutorial and I can see why this game is addictive. If you're fan of games like Rimworld or the Anno series, you'll find alot of overlap with Factorio.

I also bought this game in support of the dev who was recently threatened by the cancerous cancel culture mob. If you detest the pettiness of cancel culture, then please support this title.
