How nice of them to include a Sonic Generations remaster with this peak

Jokes aside while Generations on it's own is VERY good still I found myself enjoying Shadow X Generations a lot. Probably my favorite modern Sonic game to come out in ages the step from the base game to this is absolutely insane.

I was one of many who were a little cynical about this game coming out at first as the initial impressions forever ago did not seem all that great. I am happy to say though that I had fantastic time all the way through as of finishing. I feel like it adds onto the original in a lot of ways that I don't feel like was totally unnecessary while preserving a lot of what made the og great in the first place. It's not really a replacement for the original but can stand on it's own extremely well.

At its worst I'd say the combat can feel a little grating at the end (not that it's bad there's just a lot) and some of the padding/filler added to sections does make some stuff drag out a tad bit but overall everything works together here to make a fantastic survival horror title and a pretty solid remake all around.

I can certainly understand why some people might walk out of this one not enjoying it as much but personally? I had a blast for just about most of my playtime. I feel like what this DLC exceeds at the most is really capturing the feel of exploring Elden Ring's open world again for the first time and that is something you just cannot get anywhere else.

It is not perfect by any means and I can easily see some adjustments being made to patch out the rougher edges especially towards the end game bosses, but more or less it felt like standard fare for a Fromsoftware DLC. The exploration and amount of content on display just blew me away for as much as they tried to undersell it.

Walked in thinking it was just going to be some mid Lethal Company rip off. Stayed for a funny camera gimmick and weird as hell environment/monsters.

Fun to play if you can get a group of several people together but also fairly buggy in some areas it seems like. Also the videos saving as Webm kinda sucks.

There was always something that just bothered the hell out of me with this one in comparison to Heat. I tried giving it my benefit of the doubt really but over time just realized it was such a step back in almost every conceivable way. While Heat was the culmination of the several years of errors and missteps the NFS games faced, it at least resulted in one of the better titles in this series post reboot.

Unbound though? really doesn't build off of any of those ideas and while it tries to add a few smaller ones they really just serve as a detriment to the overall experience. I can appreciate EA's attempts to add a new art direction but it definitely doesn't do much for the game other than looking flashy time to time and it's something I just easily ignore when I didn't focus on the mediocre story (which btw stop shoving these into racing games they suck).

Wish I can tell you how the online was but it was so bare-bones when I attempted it and having to start out from zero because they separated the campaign progression from the online one was confusing to say the least.

Monster Hunter has been a series that needed to grow on me but after finally easing into this game in particular I can finally say I understand it all now. The general gameplay loop is all so VERY addicting when you finally sink your teeth into it, especially in co-op sessions where I would argue I have had most of my playtime and fun in.

There are a handful of weird quirks and some dated design choices here and there but once you get used to it all this game becomes a ton of fun.

I can't believe Fromsoft has made GOTY twice in a row.

Real talk, this game is fantastic and for the most part really fires on all cylinders. As someone who has never enjoyed mech games all that much I think this was the one to finally turn that around for me. Gameplay loop is solid, music is fantastic, and there's def some intrigue to be had on the story front.

Is it perfect? Nope but its so damn close and has definitely breached my top action games of all time.

Nier Replicant is a hard game to review and give my thoughts on entirely. The short answer I could give you is that yes, I did absolutely love my time with this game and it is by far the definitive version of it. The folks over at Toylogic and Square went above and beyond for this borderline remaster/remake and their efforts clearly show through the various amount of quality of life improvements, added story segments, and overall general improvements that the original 2010 release had founded.

That being said though, as it is based on the original game from that era, it has a few rough edges that it still shares with said game. For example, quests are your run of the mill go to one area and grind for RNG based drops half the time or the others are run around the world for 10-20 minutes talk to this NPC and run back. They aren't horrible by any means and actually have some of the better side interactions from the main cast that I have seen in the game but be weary that they can be repetitive and a bit of a time sink. Back tracking is another bigger issue this game faces as you will be going to and from the same areas...a lootttttt of times, and the fact that the game world is already a bit average in size heightens this problem just a little bit, but luckily the movement is fast and you won't be spending too long running between said areas.

Even with these issues in mind however, Nier Replicant's faults are washed out by just about everything else that it manages to do right, delivering a very deep and moving narrative that will be worth seeing through to the end.
