A decent Batman story in an interesting format. Telltale games are clearly not what they used to be (RIP), but I certainly don't feel like my money was wasted. Pick it up if you're a Batman fan.

So I finally finished the Assassin's Creed binge with this game.

This is an interesting one, since the fan response seems to be so mixed on it just like on Assassin's Creed 3, you either love this, or hate it.

I'm more on the negative side on things.

Don't get me wrong, the gameplay is great, it's basically Black Flag with some UI improvements, and the mechanic where assassin's stalk you, hide in plain sight and can one hit you if you're not careful is really well done...
But the story is complete ♥♥♥♥.

Making a game where you play as a templar is a great idea, I actually really wanted something like that after finishing the third one, since the templars there had actual point and Haytham was just so likeable.
But this ain't it chief.
Imagine what could have been done if they made the conflict a little more neutral. Chaos or Order, Freedom or Dictatorship...
Instead, the templars are just the good guys here (not in the modern day, but nobody cares about the modern day), and the assassin's are the good willing but misguided idiots, the fact that Achilles and Adéwalé are just kind of there, or in the case of Achilles, are complete ignorants, really hurts their characters overall.
And don't even get me started on Shay, he's probably my least favorite protagonist in the franchise. He's just so dumb and not in a likeable or charming way.
Seeing Haytham again was nice though
Overall, this game is full of lost potential, but still a fine time if you're just looking for a fun game and not for a good story.

Yeah this game isn't really good lmao

It's nice to play as Adéwalé since he was one of the best characters in Black Flag, but this really feels like a side story that would work better as a short comic book or something. The game is extremely short and there's not much to do. The soundtrack is kind of great though

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ YOU GUYS I KID YOU NOT THIS GAME IS SO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GOOD

After AC2, the games got progressively worse and worse. With Brotherhood still being very good and Revelations being kind of the same as before.

Then this absolute chad of a game comes and reinvents the franchise

Edward is a great protagonist, the story is great, the gameplay loop is very enjoyable outside of the AC ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (invisible walls, clunky controls, some missions that weren't designed as well as the other ones and such), sailing is so much fun, getting collectibles isn't a pain in the ass, the soundtrack ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BANGS, all the side characters are memorable.

This is probably the best AC game for newcomers and my second favorite game of the franchise so far.

It's... ok?

I mean if I played this on the PSP as intended, I would probably have a much better time. Because of this being a PC port though, it feels like a fan game. A really well-made fan game, but still a fangame.

I like the costume system where it changes your stealth approach, but that's about it

The characters are interesting, but the story never does anything with them. And the ending just feels like "That's it?"

Get it on sale if you're a big fan of the AC franchise.

Actually a fine little DLC, I enjoy the puzzle-like gameplay and the lore revelation at the end

It's not worth 10 bucks though. Get it on sale.

We're in the endgame now.

The end of Ezio's story is probably the best story Assassin's Creed has ever told us and honestly, it really does feel like the end of the franchise in a way. Ezio is old, ready for retirement and we all know this is the game where his journey leads to its climax.

The gameplay is practically the same as in Brotherhood. The only really new feature is the hook, which let's you climb slightly higher. That's about it. While the map is really detailed and nice, it doesn't feel as beautiful or memorable as Venice or Rome.

Another issue are the bugs and FPS drops, as is the case in almost every AC title.

Overall, this game is worth it for AC fans who care about the story, that's the one aspect this game truly shines at and is probably the peak of the franchise in that regard. However, if you played the older titles and expect something different gameplay-wise, you're gonna get the same game as before, just with a different map.

Also the game had an issue when I first launched it where the screen shaked like it was an earthquake. Had to delete some game file to fix it.

When the imposter is sus!

Ok now on a serious note, this game is only really fun with friends, because the number of maps and lack of additional game-modes gets old really fast. But for the price point and what the game is, it's a really fun little package and because of how accessible it is, I get why it got so popular

I don't really get the hype

AC: Brotherhood is an incredible game for AC standards and has all the positives of AC2, with some improvements. Rome is truly one of the most beautiful settings in the history of videogames and I loved to immerse myslf within it. The characters, the villains... they were all endearing and interesting and after many months I still remember them very well.

Also this has one of the better AC DLCs

As is a given in AC2, there were some bugs and FPS drops (on a gaming computer that can run Arkham Knight on ultra lmao), but usually nothing a quick restart wouldn't fix.

So what did I mean when I said I don't really get the hype, since I have been so positive so far? Well, to many, this is THE Assassin's Creed game. The best one, the top of the notch, the peak of the series. I didn't really feel that. This game is basically just a copycat of AC2 with a slightly smoother gameplay and more features (which sounds good on paper but felt cheap to me), but I felt like that magic from 2 was slightly lost. To me, the beginning on Ezio's story is still the better title.

Thank God for the fixed combat though

A much needed improvement to the clunky ACI, Assassin's Creed 2 is a huge step forward. Even in today standards, the gameplay is pretty smooth (although you need to get used to it if you started with newer games like Black Flag or Unity), the cities are beautiful and the characters are all very likeable.
There are some missions suffering from poor game design or lack of testing and the controls don't always respond, but considering this is an AC game, issues like that are given. It's also the only AC game (from those I played!) with Unity so far where I haven't met any huge FPS drops
