I'm a be real, I bought this game a long time ago and hated it. Its comp nature pretty much assures death unless you are on top, but the game also is designed to punish you for dying. You have to buy back character, I think even DLC characters you buy with real money can die. Very weird design philosophy where a lot of players get punished for just participating in a game. its part battle royal, so again, if you go into a game with a hunter you like, you better be prepaired to lose them. I never even got that far in to find out how hard it is to come back from "death" because the game was so boring and annoying that I quit. I came back four years later just to check the game out, thinking it might be funner to stream but it dosen't even work anymore. No matter what server region you select they are all unavailable. I'm not sure if maybe I got unlucky and years after not playing the one day I load it up all the servers are down? But this sucks. Like... the art direction is great and that's why I got it, but it is not fun to play. I feel like the game mechanics themselves get in the way of the actual game.

I was playing the game, hanging out in a nice neighborhood, clearly the people there were nice since you know, none of the bikes were locked up. So the people are not thieves. However for some reason Mr Protag is not calling 999 on his phone? Sure its "out of credit" but cell phones can contact the authorities even without paying. Its an emergency feature built into them. So any ways I go into this person's busness to use his computer so I can send an email to the police. Since you know, I was hit by a car and all, but its password protected. Good news though, the shop owner left the username and password written on two separate 8X11 slips of paper that are laying outside, persumibly blown around by the wind since he left his door open. Oh and I could not get out of the shop. Every time I left it would fade to black, and put me right back in the house as if I had just entered. I thought this was some clever PT stuff so as a Joke I opened the door and spun my character around quickly, joking to myself "If trying to leave simply sends me back inside, maybe I should walk out backwards!" It worked... ...It wasn't clever writing it was just a bug. So anyways I got the papers, logged into the computer and there was a notepad file with the code to a pad lock on it. I was not able to email the police for help. Or able to climb over the counter in the shop to find an office phone. Nope apperantly the best route to saftey is NOT the city, my cell phone, or the computer. Its in some udnergound tunnels. I can only assume the progaconist took a serious bump to the head during that car crash. I eventually get to the lock and realize I forgot the code. No problem, when I find clues a message pops up saying "Archived" so I hit escape to enter the pause menu, and look for something called "Notes". I see something called a 2D menu, and click that. After all, the notes were all on 2D paper and images, maybe that's it! Nope. It opens something else. So then I try the 3D menu option but that brings me to something that resembles the Title Screen. However on this screen there is an Unlockables option, this MUST be it, the clues I've unlocked. I click it but, again, no luck. I try to load game but see there was no auto save (there was also no option for a manual save in the game at this point either UwU) so I back out of that to the 3D menu again. I then figure I might be in a nested pause menu, so hit escape again. AND VWALA! I'm back in the pause menu. I hit resume and... It brings me back to the save menu? Needless to say, I lost all the progress for the second time. You think the devs would have tried to fool proof this or maybe put in a safeguard to prevent players from erasing all their progress by simply trying to look for the "archive" what ever that is. 3/10 I do not recomend. I seems like a fun goofy game, but I've been TRYING to play for awhile and my progress just keeps getting deleted. And before you ask, no I did not click the pause menu option that was labeled "will delete your progress" I specifically did not pick that one. Apperantly, more of those buttons require that same label.

Steam thinks that 2 hours of crashes and loading screens is worth $55.00. It took me hours to set up and get working. I've certainly not got 21 hours of playtime, probably closer to 5, maybe 7 at best. It was clear the game was broken, but I figured I might be able to get something out of it. But then the story mode failed to load past a specific level and it was down hill from there. So pro-tip to all you developers out there. Make sure your game runs for at least 2 hours, put in cut scenes, 1 billion options, 60 load screen each about 20 minutes long, and you'll never have to pay for a refund :) Because the user "played" for over 2 hours.

This game is a solid 8/10 if it works. It doesn't work. It took over a day for me to get it to work properly and even then it was basically a loading screen simulator. Now here is something important to know:
My internet USED TO SUCK. But even then I could get games to run, sometimes they would chug, but I got good. In fact it molded how I play games. I was used to low FPS, I learnt to game with that. Since then we upgraded our network and got a new carrier.
The game would not connect. I think it only ONCE connected during start up. I always have to manually reconnect and even that won't always work. It often kicks me from online games before they even start (games I might add that are typically lag free, so there is no visible reason for the kick, I could understand if I was freezing or getting 6fps, but this thing runs fairly well) and on top of that it will punish you for the game deciding to boot you. Rather then fix their broken game they actually punish the player base. Its so problematic for three hours of game time I usually only get 1 functional game in. These games are what? 15-20 minutes long? 15 minutes of gameplay for 3 hours of waiting might be fine for a gamer with no job in lockdown mid pandemic, but I work full time at an essential service. Being punished on top of that is insulting. I literally putting my life at risk trying to stop travelers from killing everyone in my community by bringing a plague in!

Play offline Then? Two big problems with that:
I actually loved the story mode, although I was so bad at flying the Rebel NPC's compliments seemed more like insults. And the Imperial NPCs were poorly written and unlikable. (Since when did imperial officers have punk haircuts?) No the problem with single player was two fold. 1. You don't get to choose your ship most of the time. That hurts re-playability. 2. I encountered a GAME BREAKING GLITCH in Story Mode that prevents the Moncalimar mission from loading. And since you can't skip levels that's it. No more story mode unless you want to replay the early missions with no ship selection spare one.
Its a real shame, I enjoyed story mode so much I bought a Thrustmaster dual stick system and sank hours into getting it set up right. Witch wasn't easy since this unstable game almost kills my computer if I try to have another program in the background. But when it worked boy was it a blast. Playing with the keyboard was impossible, who in their right mind would use a mouse to control YAW and ROLL?!

Okay okay so story mode was a waste of time? What about Solo vs AI? I will keep this shot to avoid wasting your time, (unlike this game) You proifiles progress and unlocks only work while connected to a server. Diet DRM I guess. Meaning while the game is loading it can disconnect and you will find it won't let you play with your custom loadouts. Or even worse, it will disconnect mid game and I think that means you lose any progress you made in game.

Basically in its current state its $55.00 demo. You get to play some of the story, and you can do AI matches with no progress. Can't wait for the full game to release some day, the one with the multiplayer and customization options I hear people talking about.

In its current state its a 2/10. Its as janky and unstable as the old DAY-Z mod. Do not buy unless you have a super computer. (Seriously, I set my computer to its e-sports mode and the program would not run properly.)

I got this game because I love the music in it. However the game itself was very boring and rather dull, and this comes from someone who loves exploration games, avoids conflict, and enjoys the story over the action. First mistake this game made was the notes, second was the voice over. It seems at face value to be an environmental story telling game, but there really isn't much to gleam from the environment quite clearly laid out in the notes for you already. If you gathered all the notes and audio clips and played them you would get whats there is of the story, and its not really an interesting story.

The second problem is as much as the game is exploration, it punishes exploration and discourages it. Often you are faced with two pathways, and instead of exploring one and then the other like most exploration games, sometimes you pick one direction and it (without warning) loads the next level and you are locked out of the other pathways and all it holds meaning you miss out on notes and hidden items. Oh and the hidden items are just longer notes.

I so wanted this to be a great game, and I might play it again later because I figured out in the last level how to turn the music up to a point where you can hear it well. (I think it should have been more audible by default.) But perhaps the biggest disappointment was The Old City itself. Or lack there of. You spend the ENTIRE game trying to get into the old city only for it to fade to black and play a sound clip of your character being refreshed by what sounds like the ocean with the sounds of seaguls. So all that work is for nothing. You never see it, you never figure out what happened to it. You already learnt in maybe the last third of the game that the water comes from a filtration plant inside the city so beyond that you learn nothing more (It says the water is recycled and I thought there would be like corpses decaying in it or something dark) but even that isn't true as we see the clean water being umped into the dirty lake. The big slap to the face is the sound clip, the Old City is landlocked. We spend the game around the outside on the coast. So why is it that when you enter the city you hear the coast line?

The environmental story telling was all over the place. At once point I though there was something sinister going on with the pop cans because a suicide victim had drank so many and the names for the flavors was so cryptic but in the end it was nothing. You hear about lots and lots of people but there is very little trace of them for it being a "dead city". There was maybe a total of 15 bodies in the game? 30 max. And that is if you try to explore everywhere you can, there isn't much other places a person could have hid.

If you can't tell, I really do care about this games story, took in the details but in the end was so disappointed by it. Honestly, Fallout 3 has so much better first Person solo exploration, that uses notes to supplement the story as opposed to relying on notes alone. The most interesting part of the game is the symbolic dream sequences and they give you a world you want to explore.

It doesn't cost much and there are way worse games out there that are priced much worse. The game looks good, it functions well with a few jitters, nice music. Its not "fun" so it fails my main reason for gaming, but its not a terrible game. I won't spoil the story in case you want to play, but I don't think its worth the two and a half hour play though. Maybe if you are on a plane flight or train trip. Its comparable to a boring book, not bad, but not really worth it despite there not being too many flaws. If you like walking around in video game worlds for NO REASON (and not for story because this doesn't offer much) then this game is for you.

So in summery:
Amazing music.
Boring Story.
Too Much Reading.
Punishes Exploration.
Doesn't let you explore the inside of the Old City, only the outside area. You never even SEE the city.
Cool dreams.
Not Bad For Its Price.
Looks great.

3/10? 4/10? I know that is harsh but its really disappointing and there isn't much payoff for it. I fell like with some tweaks (a new story for one) scrap 90% of the notes and lean more into environmental story telling like bodies, weapons, the bullet holes, the graffeti, and the structure of the buildings we could have something really cool. And Show Us The City And What Killed Every One. (Madness and 'War' are not good enough for how few bodies we see.) Maybe YOU will enjoy it, and I truly hope you do enjoy it. Because it looks like a LOT of work was put into it. I encourage the devs to continue making games and I think I will probably try other titles from them if I can. Not all bullets hit their target and I think this one missed, but it was an experiment and they made that clear in the description, so I do not feel ripped off. Better luck next time, and I look forward to their next game.

PS: using Unreal was a really good choice, it looked BEAUTIFUL!

Imagine if Undertail and the Bad Dog screen saver from After Dark had a child that grew up to be a dateing simulator. That would be this game. I love it, and I feel ever so bad for you know who. I'm sorry I deleted you :(

I don't know what they did but its broken.

Build a super cool fany robot. What happens? Someguy builds a box and plants 30 guns onit and kills you all the time. So you try your hand at that, then a guy with a tiny brick flying at the top of the sky box snipes you. So yeah, you can poor hours into a maserpiece just to be defeated by explotrons.

Alsight, I do not really find this that fun. It requires too much suspension fo disbalife. I can put up with game logic, but the game must give me somethign in return, its hard enough survivng a zombie appocylips, no need to make it unrealistically more hard.

-To hard to start off.
-If you clear a town, it should stay clear for a few days.
-Not every town and settle meant needs ot be FILLED WITH ZOMBIES.
-Unrealistic spawning. I was sneaking around and PIFF! Zombie spawn beside me.
-Zombies are fast as and stronger than humans. NO. Just NO. They are rotting corpses, they should hardly be able to walk.
-Ammo but no guns? Who buys ammo for guns they don't have, if I find lots of ammo in a house, there should be a gun. Logics, and donèt say: Well a guy escaped with it! If they escaped the house would not be surrounded by zombies, and the ammo should be gone too.
-Spawning with no clothing, yet zombies spawn with full on attire.
-Not begin able to loot cloths from zombies.
-Its PEI, were are my potatoes. :P
-Haveign the audacity to ask for money for a prenium account... Really? Not for this level of game play. Anything youc an offer in prenium should be immediatly implimented into the normal one, because francly, this game needs all the gameplay boost it can get.

I feel like this game is some sort of DayZ wanabee, but its not delivering. There are some things they could greatly improve.
