I first saw this game once upon a time ago when Markiplier took a very angry stab at it. It didn't take long for me to want to try it for myself. After installing it, I was met with my first run that took me 6 hours and 48 minutes. Being an achievement hunter, I knew the daunting task of 'getting over it 50 times' was staring me down, and it was extremely daunting. Telling myself I probably wouldn't ever do it, I went for my second clear so I could at least have 2/3 achievements. After beating the game for the second time in 1 hour and 11 minutes, I realised how far I had come, and felt the urge to see just how fast I could get up the mountain. By victory 25, I was getting about 20-25 minutes. After 40, I was getting under 15 minutes. When I finally crossed that goal line for the 50th time and saw how close I was to coming under 10 minutes, I felt a sense of pride that very few games have instilled in me. What started out as such an insurmountable task slowly became more and more easy without me even noticing just HOW much I had learned. This game gets a universal bad rap for being too hard, or even bad, but I argue that this game is just an incredible challenge. While the controls seem so impossible to grasp at first, you start realising that they are actually quite fair, and that you just aren't used to the mechanics of the game. You start realising that you don't have to spend dozens of minutes on a segment you can confidently cross in 1 minute. You start realising just how good you can be at this game if you're willing to give it a chance. You realise that you answered the call to challenge that only a gamer can really truly answer. I recommend this game on all aspects. I hope everyone gets a chance to experience the mountain at least once. I myself just crossed the finish line for the 84th time, and finally got my sub 5 minute run that I've been so hungry for, and I know I'll be going back for more.
And just really quickly as an extra on the end of this review, Bennett isn't annoying. I realise that if you're having a rough go with the game, tempers can end up running hot, but I found the encouragement from Mr. Foddy to be uplifting, and I genuinely enjoy the songs that accompany you're journey when things are tough.
