Okay, this review is probably insignificant to the many others that are out there, but let me tell you, THIS IS THE PEAK OF MILITARY SIMULATION. PERIOD. The amount of mods and support after all these years is still one of the greatest i've ever seen for a game and I hope it continues to grow. Although i'm personally running through some problems at the moment with my online play, all of my past experiences have been exactly what I was looking for. If you haven't already seen the crap ton of videos on the internet, please indulge yourself.

"Great game, even though its still in the Alpha, i recommend getting it for the sake of not having to pay for the full game when it does come out. When you do enter this though, just remember IT IS STILL IN ALPHA, and THERE WILL BE BUGS. If you cant deal with them, dont buy it or dont play it."

This is what I said back in 2014. The Arma 2 mod was the whole reason I got into PC gaming, and I still play the mod from time to time. Me and my friends enjoy the aspect of team gameplay without the confines of a small map, but a large, open world.

I remember waking up one morning in October of 2013, checking some social media before school, and saw that DayZ standalone was set to release in December. Thank God! All I could thinnk about at school that day was the realease of this game. At this time, I would be about halfway through my 8th grade year.

It is now July 2017, a month before I begin my senior year. I always check the BI twitter for updates every week to see if theres anything going on with development. "Updates to Zeleogorsk", "Bug Fixes", and "Stability updates" are all i've seen the past few months. I watched a video this morning, where two guys were comparing this game to Playerunknown's Battlegrounds. Some points that they brought up were pretty good, but I still couldn't figure out why they were comparing the two.

The way I see it, PUBG is a simple copy and paste from an Arma 3 mod to the Unreal 4 Engine, and is a great way to put out a product early on, but will limit what they can do with the game later down the line. DayZ, on the other hand, tried to make it's own engine based off of the Arma engine. Although this engine is great for Arma games, it was a poor choice on the original BI dev team due to how buggy it is, and is the reason wh ythe current DayZ team is recoding the entire engine, which should push this game into 0.63, or beta. On top of that, while they are recoding the engine, the game is still techincally playable. If PUBG had to recode an engine, it would easily double the time it took to develop. PUBG also hasn't had the mastermind behind it up and leave a dev team to figure out what to do on their own.

Three and a half years is a long time for a game to be in development, but for a game on this scale, it's doing relatively well, especially with all the problems BI has encountered. But, to this day, I still have hope for this game. One reason is for the fact that BI has usually done what it said it would do. I mean, Arma 3 is trucking along fine and well with its road map, and its on the smaller side of companies. Rockstar Games took five years to make GTAV with at least ten times the amount of devs working for them, and the game doesn't even have half the mechanics that DayZ has (Realistic ballistics, carry weight, etc.)

I refuse to let this game crash and burn. The mod has made some of my best gaming memories, and i've sunken countless hours into both the mod and standalone. It's the basis for tons of other copies (H1Z1and State of Decay, i'm looking at you two) and still has a fairly large player base on both the mod and standalone. As the famous rapper G-Eazy once said in an interview about his career, "The longer it takes, the longer it lasts." I think we should all just let BI do its thing, pass it into beta, and put all of this crap behind us. I mean, come on, nothing can be more of a disappointment than No Man's Sky.
