So, I've played most of the Persona series, with some of them being my favorite games AOT, and as this from Atlus, the comparisons are plenty. But for me who has been following these games since P3, I can confidently say this is my favorite Atlus game, my GOTY, and easily top ten games of all time (for me).

I've connected with more High Fantasy/Medivial settings then others, mostly attributed to D&D, but I've still enjoyed the settings of other Atlus games, so hearing about a Atlus game set in this world made me pretty excited. And I was right to be.

The world , characters , and story felt deeply personal. All of the world building was wonderful, the hidden secrets, the differences, the little tidbits about each tribe that made them wholly unique was wonderful. The designs and concepts of all the different characters felt wholly unique, distinct from each. Their traits and story themselves as you progress I connected with then I have with any other Atlus game. The tone of this game is also much different, more serious in some aspects and much more realistic to modern day struggles, which is a pretty welcome change. Atlhough, dont' get me wrong, there is plenty of actually funny as hell moments (Don't let the gang find more pots and pans)

I'm not going to go into detail about the story or the characters themselves, as I believe this is one of those games you go in blind and enjoy the ride. But every Persona game has had some kind of themeing, like with P4 being to looking for the truth or with P5 about free will and breaking free from the oppression of society (rebelling). And the theme of this game is that I resonate with: That fantasy can shape reality and inspire change. The story very heavily leans into this and goes full send into that idea, with many, many twists and turns (and a lot of twists that genuinely caught me off guard) and it deeply resonated with me.

Besides how it connected with me, the gameplay was actually a fresh change for me. Confidants we're more streamlined, I didn't have to pick a choice to gain more "social" points , I could pick the dialogue option I would actually like to say. I usually would have to min-max to get all of that up in a persona game, but I maxed all of them without even trying, with time to spare. The travel system and the different activites you could do didn't feel superfluous. The concepts of Archetypes are also pretty fun to me, I enjoy more singular, evolving power then a billion different personas (imo). Also am I glad that each party member can use ANY archetype, so having customizing a team comp was actually pretty great. The turn system with the half-turns (similiar to a one-more) I kinda of preferred, you could utilize this in a way other persona games couldn't. The back and front row system (borrowed I believe from the older SMT games) felt cool, a lot of mechanics utilized positioning and having set up with that felt great. Bosses and enemies felt more varied with more mechanics.

The design of the game also is just gorgeous. I feel like I don't even need to explain how amazing the UI is, as thats just an ATLUS staple. Besides the UI, the map and areas are great. But good god, some of the locations in this game are amazing. I know they are basically a glorified jpeg, but the art direction and the concepts of these locations are just beautiful and very screenshot worthy.

I could probably wax poetic about this game for a while, but I think the most important thing to me is the heart of it. Going off on a fantasy adventure with your friends, with a lot of twists and turns feels, exploring in a gauntlet runner, traveling the land, camping out and training with Hulkenberg or cooking with Strohl. Just the togetherness feel of being with your companinions throughout all of it and how close nit the group is, is something I haven't felt in a while in a game.

The bias for me strong though, as I think majorly of how this just brings me into the world of playing D&D with my friends, going on that grand adventure. Of the power of what fantasy can achieve. Of all the things this game has showed, the power to believe in fantasy and have it connect those around us is something that connects with me deeply, and if there is one more thing to say:

Fantasy Lives On. 10/10.

P.S Strohl is the best homie in any Atlus game. Fight me on it.
