The game is deceptively good in terms of gameplay, repeatability, and with mods that exist for the game increases it's longevity and fixing any existing nooks and crannies that players might be irked with. It's base content with vanilla and it's DLCs are quite good, albeit the very large price tag.

My personal opinion would be to get the base game, see how you like base building, managing a society, and commanding an armada fleet, and galactic politics at the same time. It's actually very intensive on the macro/micro managing. If you like a challenge and played RTS before, this is a game for you.

Gameplay: 9/10 (-1 pt for old engine and it's inability to handle optimization past year 2350 when playing multiplayer)
Story&Lore: 10/10 (There's alot to read. From anomalies, simple discoveries, excavations, and multitude of other situations)
Visuals: 10/10 (Stunning in terms of showcasing theoretical physics and sciences)

Remember to try out with mods.

80% Shooting 20% Lewd stuff. Actually has better hitboxes than most FPS games oddly enough. You can shoot through gaps properly too.

Extremely good. Like if you like HF1 (Half-Life 1/Black Mesa Remake), this is the game for you. Everything gets creepier and more scary over time. Everything is perfectly alien. While dying & recovering backpack items isn't a huge chore. Staying alive is. There's alot of things that will catch you off guard.

The gameplay isn't the selling point of the product. What they're selling is the art. I've seen a lot of the reviews about this being "too expensive for something too short". These pixel arts are high quality with well done fluid animations. The artist "Namako Daibakuhatsu" is quite famous among the pixel artist community. These aren't easy to make and there's roughly 15 of these including near full body solo animations which if commissioned separately go up to 500-1750 USD easily.

SONY bad.

This game is such a good thriller especially with friends. Don't use Discord if possible. Just use the in-game voice. It'll be more scarier and interesting. Since, if your friends die. You end up doing a solo run and not knowing if your friends are dead or not. The monsters are practically hiding in the darkness if you don't have a flashlight, so far the weeping angels (Dr.Who)/peanut (SCP) are extremely hard to deal with. Spiders are 2nd hardest because of the webs. There's the weird dark monster which my party managed to deal with somehow by hiding behind server rooms and running away super fast, but considering we don't know it's location when it comes around is probably the scariest of them all.

This game is definitely gonna be the top 10 for scariest games for awhile.

18.90 USD for this game, pretty damn good. I have zero complaints for this game at the moment. The comms are especially AMAZING. indoor and outdoor voices and radio voices, so different and good. You guys did amazing on the sounds for sure. Top-Notch.

Updated Review (2024 Feb):
1.) Dead game, takes 20 minutes to get a match ready and start (sometimes you even get people who quit the lobby when the teams are formed or when the forming team process is bugged).

2.) There's still hackers in this deadass game. Thanks for giving me anti-cheat bloatware at this point, absolutely useless. Infinite attack range enemies that shoot through walls. Infinite HP enemies in Arctic base, etc etc.

3.)Dev team doesn't care about us. If anything, they berate and ignore us.

I'm glad I left this clown of a game. But only to dive into another hell hole (GBO2)
