TLDR: If you are ok with UI and some interactions being a little wonky and you enjoy card games / adventure games then I can 100% recommend picking up AtO.

Now a little more detail. Exploring this game is a genuine pleasure, sure at times some of the story dialogue feel like they could have been written by an AI but interactions are still often funny even when it appears as such. When playing as a group all map options are attractive enough to encourage fun debates over what you want to aim for. The rounds take a decent chunk of time and there are so many things to do and unlock before you even touch the madness multipliers (challenge mode) + rogue lite maps where the maps change so plenty of content to explore.

Card mechanics are fun, I might say that some cards are worded a little strangely HOWEVER this does not take away from the enjoyment of experimenting with these options. Sometimes deck building element is a little on the lower side for me unless you stock up on gold from previous runs but there is still enough going on in game play that I wouldn't necessarily paint this as a negative.

Multiplayer. To set one thing clear as I couldn't find any information on this: When playing with less than 4 players you can just allocate that people can play with more than 1 character. (you can even let one person play 3 characters and the other play 1). Multiplayer is a huge part of the attraction of this game to me. I do really enjoy card games but with all the choices (maps items challenges) the game is 10 times funnier when you have to rope your friend into an insane challenge purely for the chance to grab one new card for one of your characters and to make sure it is unlocked in the future. The ensuing chaos as you barely make it through alive and are demanded to use that card every round from then on or suffer the consequences really bring the fun to a climax.

Now the big Eh. The UI is pretty crap. In general this came as a point of amusement. One example of this why in the hell on the main settings menu do we have an option to remove all saves etc and why in the heck is it a toggle, what does that even mean do I toggle it then close the game, does it happen instantly all I know is I feel uncomfortable every time I open the settings panel. There are also some other issues such as combat log BUT the Devs have already made announcements that they will be tackling combat logs etc in the future so fingers crossed.

To summarize bring some friends and you'll have a fantastic time and the purchase will feel well worth. Devs seem to actively care about their game and that is a huge plus to me. my only hope for the future is that they overhaul their UI and on a lesser note consider rewording some of their cards / effects.
