Not fun at all. Great concept that could be made a lot better if resource gathering wasn't so mundane. Although it has a lot of potential it ends up being very repetitive and "grindy". I already have a job, I don't play games to have another one.

Game was rough when it came out but now, is great. Enjoying my time revisiting all the great work they put into it.

Total waste of time and money. DO NOT BUY! It could have been something great, but instead turned out to be nothing more than an unpolished turd.

I may never get to walk on the Moon and with a bleary eye regret the knowledge that I will never see a Martian sunset, but with Elite: Dangerous I know I will make it to the center of the Milky Way and perhaps even beyond!

Firstly, I never write reviews, my feeling always being, "What I love, others might find abhorrent and vice versa!" Yet, I feel compelled to write a wonderful review about a wonderful game.

Let me start by telling what this game is not. It is not your generic Space Flight Sim "FPS" along a set story line. If you are looking for a game like that then I would suggest going elsewhere. What it is, is far more spectacular (in my humble opinion).

Elite: Dangerous is your ticket to an open-ended journey throughout our galaxy in exact, painstaking detail that makes one question, "How could life possibly not exist outside of humanity." Although lacking in a structured "story line" like one might find in Mass Effect or other "similar" games, the story is your own. Your decisions and your actions are all up to you. Do you want to explore the galaxy, jumping from system to system? No problem! Do you want to try your hand at a little "Han Solo" type smuggling? Sure thing! Perhaps a little space bounty hunting is your thing Boba Fett? Man, we got you! Therein lies my point. You can literally do anything!

Now, I will not deny, that if I was not completely enamored by space and the realism behind the "space mechanics" of this game, my interest may lessen but it would not preclude me from buying this game. Look, it can be repetitive, absolutely, but just wait. Wait until you pull up to your first black hole system, get pulled out of "hyperspace" by some "system security", with your ship loaded with "illegal goods", blast him to nothing only after he rips your ship apart to the point where you only have 10 minutes remaining before your life support fails...that my friend, is when it hits you, "It's space, anything can happen!"

The last thing I want to mention is that I said there is no story. That's true in the typical sense, the closest thing to a story is joining one of the factions. In this manner you advance both the "power" you are backing and your own ranking within said faction. When you get high enough in rank, you begin to get access to more specialized ships, Right not for example, I am rocking an Imperial Clipper, which I love!

To sum up, if you love space and the idea that you can create your own story, in our own galaxy then run...don't walk and buy a copy of this game. It is incredible!
