Was an original Kickstarter for this game and can say it lives up to all expectations. I loved the original NES Shadowgate as a kid and am thoroughly enjoy this sequel as an adult. 10/10!

Early Access Review
I REALLY wanted to be able to recommend this game, as KSP 1 is truly a masterpiece. Taking the current optimization issues aside, in it's current state I truly cannot recommend anyone buying the game. Unless they wish to support the early development of the project.

While the tutorial system is excellent, the rest of the current game is rather lackluster given how long it has been in development. There are a lot of significant features still missing and really hope that we see their implementation within the next year. As things stand, I would recommend buying KSP 1 and wait until much later in development, before buying KSP 2. All in all a rather lackluster early access release.

This game is simply brilliant. Addictive gameplay combine with a creepy pasta conspiracy driven story! Tons of fun!

EDIT: With the latest 1.06 Hotfix the save game issue has been eliminated along with overall performance enhancements. I am happy to say I am thoroughly enjoying CP 2077!

What can I really say about this game that hasn't been regurgitated thousands of times already, choom? It's a hot mess and sadly one I cannot recommend, despite how much I wish I could.

While I have not encountered many of the bugs that others have (invisible vehicles, falling through floors, etc.), I have been privy to numerous clipping, NPC 's walking through walls, and T pose issues. None of which have been game breaking though. In all honesty, if the aforementioned bugs were the only problems, I'd probably recommend the game. I love the story, graphics are breathtaking and it's an overall enjoyable experience.

However, I am a "completionist". I love to explore every nook and cranny. Complete every possible quest. Craft and/or acquire every item that I can. Yet now, I cannot do any of these things. Why? Well, the game rather stupidly has a limit on save game size and any save above 8 MB, becomes corrupted and unplayable! All of the aforementioned things add to save game size, including amount of time played. CD Projekt Red's (CDPR) response, I am paraphrasing here, "Don't play the game so much!" Truly unbelievable!

So while I hold out hope that the game will eventually get fixed and optimized into a truly playable state, I simply cannot recommend anyone buying it; given the myriad of problems that currently plague it! If they fix the save game problem and numerous other bugs, I will happily recommend folks buy it, but for now...stay away!

Another Kickstarter backer here that is tremendously disappointed in what this game has turned out to be. This game should never have been released in its current state with the number of glaring bugs that haunt this game. Moreover, I don't know whose BRILLIANT idea it was to not allow for save games, but for goodness sake talk about a dumb decision. Don't get me wrong, the game does have a "save game" feature in NAME ONLY, other than that it transports you ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE BEGINNING OF THE LEVEL! Sure, it might save your items so you are now clogged up with duplicate items in your inventory, but having to start from the beginning is simply ludicrous. This is a completely game breaking aspect to me as the levels continue to get more complicated and longer as the game continues.

Furthermore, the physics are WAY off. You bump into a table that states its weight at say 60 lbs., and it goes careening off into the darkest shattering everything in it's path. Let's not forget about the annoyance this causes when stacking boxes so you can jump to a higher ledge. Spend a few minutes stacking boxes...spend an ETERNITY placing them back on top of one another as the slightest TOUCH sends them flying all over the place...AAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! It is simply infuriating!

The game is not without it's charms though. I think there are parts, like fire burning wood items down, quite cool. I also like the ambiance of the levels and think this could be a good game if they REALLY dug deep and fixed all the bugs and allowed for a save anywhere game state! As of right now, I am holding off on this game in the hopes that they will fix the completely unplayable nature of the game. If they can do this then I will gladly come back and play, but for now this was a tremendous disappointment and waste of time and money. Stay far away from this game in its current state!

I had held off on writing this review because I had hoped that the game would improve and over time get better. Quite simply, it has not. If anything it has gotten worse, as the focus of all new content has shifted to things that can be monetized in the Add-On store and not fixing the many bugs and unbalanced aspects of the game. They say they are working on bugs, but they introduce them as quickly as they fix them. It's horrendous!

As someone who loved the Ultima series, I was highly excited by what I was led to believe would be a "selective multiplayer" experience with a focus on an engaging and interactive story. Similar to what you have in Larian's Divinity Original Sin 2. What ended up being developed, was an MMO that was completely lackluster in any engaging and coherent story. Let me be very clear on this point, I have near 2,000 hours on record playing this game and have completed the main story line twice online and once offline and it is absolutely abysmal.

First off, the story is completely boring. It doesn't grip you with compelling lore or any reason why you should care about what is happening in New Britannia. Add into the mix that NPC dialogue is extremely limited and often times non-existent with NPC's responding, "I don't have anything to say at this time." Trying to find out where you are going is impossible at times as well, unless you ask other players, since NPC's are virtually useless. The worst part is, this isn't the exception it's the rule! Those that do have working dialogue, might as well not, since it is completely uninteresting commentary that doesn't compel you in any capacity.

Aside from the main story being dull and uninteresting it is still riddled with bugs which can completely break your progression if not done properly. This has happened to me twice playing online and I had to wait months until a patch finally fixed it. What's worse is that there are still players who cannot complete it due to similar types of bugs. It's completely infuriating to say the least.

Taking the story as an aside, for those that might not care, everything else in this game is a repetitive grind. If you want to level up your character, grind mobs for hours on end. You want to craft gear, go harvest resources endlessly to grind more hours trying to craft one item. You want to buy a house with in game gold and not spend thousands of dollars in the Add-On store, go grind for gold. GRIND, GRIND, GRIND, GRIND and for what? To complete a story that is completely ridiculous in it's narrative that my ten year old son could have written it? Or maybe for that epic loot...think again.

Which brings me to my third aspect of why this game isn't fun. It is a player crafted economy, so all the high end gear is made by players and sold at an exorbitant price! You literally need millions of gold pieces to kit out your character in order to even be remotely viable in some of the higher tier zones. To add insult to injury here, you could take down a flight of dragons and the only loot you will get is: 20 gold pieces, a gem and a rusty sword. I ♥♥♥♥ you not. There are very few high end items the player can acquire in game. Those that you can find, you need to guess what...grind, grind, grind to get them and even if you do, they suck compared to what players can make. So once again, what's the point? They should have called this game Grind of the Avatar, because really that's all there is to do. Whether it's playing through the boring non-intuitive quests or trying to craft items. You literally have to grind hundreds of hours to do these things and be successful. Unless you are ok with buying resources from the countless "Real Money Traders" (RMT) that are in the game, with real money. All of which is supported by the company.

In conclusion, I simply cannot recommend Grind of the Avatar to anyone that enjoys games with a strong story, compelling dialogue/lore, and consequential actions. If you were hoping for a new Ultima "successor" as they stated during the Kickstarter, think again. It is nothing reminiscent of an Ultima game. However, if you love grinding thousands of hours in a game only to have them "nerf" your character build in the name of balancing, then this is the game for you. Besides, the game is clearly doing so well that they made it Free to Play, right?
