I very rarely bother to write reviews, but I feel compelled to in this case for three reasons:

1. This game is infinitely better than Rome 2 was at launch. It runs well and the mechanics all work. Since R2 I have waited for months to play a new TW game because of the state that game was in and the amount of time it took to fix. This is much more finished at launch than that ever was.

2. This game is a scapegoat for issues with CA. Increased prices, DLC quality, and the fact that a lot of this game has seemingly been taken from Troy. None of these reasons make this game bad, but a good game made by a company that needed a reality check.

3. The game is actually good fun. I know people didn't bother to get it for the above reason, or that they just don't care for the time period - and I wanted Medieval 3 as much as the next person. But this game is fun, and takes us to a different period in history, is polished, and now (after the backlash) is cheaper, and will get a free update.

I'd like to see a large Bronze Age 'mortal empires' map featuring the Greek civilizations and Mesopotamia - hopefully that'll happen. I think for the price it is now, it's worth the money and even if you got 30 hours of fun out of it, that's about £1 an hour - that's not bad right?

And ultimately, if a company reuses assets to make a new game, why not? They exist to make money and we have no obligation to buy the games. And if the product they put out is actually decent... I don't see the issue.

As good as the original but much easier to play online without faffing about with LAN cables!! 9/10

I absolutely love Total War games; my favourites being Rome and Shogun 2. Unfortunately this game seems to be a step back from the more recent iterations of the franchise and to be honest I'd rather play those instead at the moment.

In about two years it'll probably be fantastic...
