who hacks in fall guys? like what

If I can convince one person to take a chance on this game then I’m gonna try. This is one of my all time favorite games (I still own my WII U copy), and the most platinum games experience there is. It has a very Saturday morning cartoon vibe that borrows heavily from things like Super Sentai, and feels like a true spiritual successor to Viewtiful Joe (thanks Kamiya)

You control a group of 100 heroes tasked with defending the earth from an invading alien terrorist group bent on eradicating earth. Combat revolves around controlling 1 central character and drawing different shapes with the right stick to use different weapons such as a circle for fist or a straight line for sword. As you go throughout the game you unlock different moves much like other character action games, so even though your initial pool of moves may seem limited the game has depth. The game also likes to switch genres such as a shmup or an all range star fox esque section, which gives the game some variety.

This a truly unique experience and one I will happily recommend, however this game is not perfect and not for everyone. It has some frustrating aspects that may be too much for some people. The game has tutorials on screen by default, but they can be kind of confusing and sometimes not very helpful. This can lead to some confusing puzzles where you take damage since you didn’t know what to do. The game can also be very chaotic, and with the pulled back camera. Combat might be too much for some people to focus on (there can be a lot on screen making tells a bit harder to read). The game also has a high learning curve for it’s different mechanics. Early game shapes are easy to draw with a circle and straight line, but as you get late game shapes it may take practice for you to get them to come out consistently. The S shape and Z shape tend to get confused which can be frustrating under time constraints (time slows when you draw a shape, but not on higher difficulties).

Despite these faults this is one of the best action games of the last generation. Once you get the hang of drawing shapes you’ll be comboing with the best of them. The story is over the top action fun with one of coolest rival characters ever (think Vergil). Has a truly unique combat system that’s fun to play around with. Has a tone of collectables and unlockable content/characters. The standard platinum ranking system is here giving the game replay value for those that want those perfect platinum trophies. This game just feels like the complete package and a true labor of love. You can feel how much fun the team must have had making this game.

Replaying this game has reminded me how much I loved it back in 2013. I had a huge grin on my face the whole time I was playing it. The amount of times I said “That was so ****ing cool” out loud to myself was ridiculous. I hope that people give this game a chance. It’s not for everyone, but for those that can get past it’s barrier for entry it’s a masterpiece. Stay Wonderful
