Street fighter 6 has got to be the sweatiest fighting game I've ever played. I spent well over an hour trying to get ONE single string of an intermediate combo with Cammy on modern controls. No quarter or z inputs. I don't have a problem with those, but I wanted to give the new modern controls a try and they felt good so far.
I couldn't land this FOUR INPUT COMBO. Just a doo doo baby easy input. I turned on the frame timer, and the combo requires damn near frame perfect input on the 3rd leg of it. At that point spending 3 hours in practice mode and feeling like I've made zero progress is just disheartening, and honestly, a little boring.
I can't help but compare this to Guilty Gear Strive, that game feels so much more rewarding to play. From Training to climbing the ranked ladder. I always felt like I was making some sort of progress. I made two custom fight sticks just because I enjoyed it so much. This feels like bashing your head against a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wall in training until you can get to about a 75 percent chance of actually landing a useful combo.
Frame perfect timing is cool if you're playing this game at a level where it can separate the high ranked players from the literal pros, but it makes it just way too much of a time sink to even feel remotely good enough to play online.
The game is stylish and has plenty of content, but in 2023 where systems like Strive allow for just as much complex and rewarding gameplay with out all the fuss, I fail to see why this is so popular.

I want to like it. I'll keep playing it. I'm going to keep slamming my head into the wall, but man, does this feel unintuitive.

This game has fantastic bones. The gameplay loop is incredibly fun and challenging. So far the only bugs I've encountered have been lobby desync with buds a handful of times. The setting and art direction is so cool.

This game does support ultrawide, and the people that are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. (also who complains about controller support on a day one PC exclusive indie FPS)

Naturally this game will get compared to Tarkov. I have around 1k hours in tarkov, (been playing since 2015) and I can comfortably say that this game on launch is leagues better than where Tarkov was at this point. Tarkov still feels like a wacky mess sometimes, but for what Marauders is, it's off to an incredibly strong start.

Maybe a little bit more space combat/incentive to board and destroy others, but the loop as a whole is fun, fast, and rewarding.

Mortal shell is a game that does not deserve the negative reviews. I've played all the souls games multiple times, and I seriously don't understand the "comparisons" and nit-picky criticism. Sure, its got a familiar set-up to a souls like game with checkpoints, "souls", and respawning enemies, but the gameplay feel is not Dark Souls. It's its own unique brand. I really like the item identification system.

You can tell a lot of love and care went into the development of this game. From the Art, to the small Easter eggs, and to the balance. The combat is meant to feel weighty. Enemies "swinging around" to hit you is just ridiculous. THAT HAPPENS IN THE SOULS SERIES ALL THE TIME! Ontop of that the devs thought of a universal skill that lets you frame cancel any animation that doubles as a long block. STOP CRYING AND G E T G U D.

If you are even mildly interested in the "souls-like" genre, pick this up. What a cool world Cold Symmetry has built and I hope these reviews turn around because grognards want to cry about polish when they could see it if they had Kiwi Tins strapped to their face.

Solid game, solid price, love was put into this project. Buy it.

Fun F2P machine builder. Super cool build systems, creative weapons and equipment, and an active community. Slightly grindy like any F2P, but you can still have fun with basic weapons. No real pay to win elements because your creation has a power score which acts as a "Rank". As of this review I've got 195 hours.
