Convinced my people to eat water, failed a doom and everything turned to snow. Water soup is back on the menu, boys!

Love the art style and the gameplay is SUPER engaging, it just needs more enemy / location variation and music variation, I started to listen to podcasts at the hour 3 mark of the same battle song.

Also, perhaps I'm just not clued in at where I am in the game, but it almost feels too easy. I've been able to beat what I *think* is the final boss twice now with two separate characters in my first time playing them. Maybe I'm just lucky? There are difficulty settings you can use to amp up your game post-defeat, so it could be a Hades situation and I'm just missing the memo because plot.

A VERY compelling addition to the creature collector genre! This game was plenty of content for me to eat up and I'm going to be excitedly waiting for more!

Cassette Beasts features RPG-like exploration and (of course) turn based combat, where monster types don't deal extra damage but instead inflict status ailments. No mechanic in this game feels underused or ignored, you truly do learn to use everything at your disposal long before you reach any kind of ending!
My only gripe is certain things could use tweaking (if I see a monster using Wonderful 7 for the 5th time in a row I just scream) and that quests for companions could be better scaled (the 2nd person you meet in the game, I wasn't able to befriend until nearly the end game. I think it would've been better to make his friendship progression tied to the events of his quest. Meanwhile, another companion literally just wants you to walk with them until you reach a cave, and then you fight and are instant friends.)

Also they did the open world idea MUCH better than a certain highest grossing franchise recently did... And it's impossible for this game to have poor performance. Just saying.

The horror fishing genre is VERY niche, but for those that appreciate fishing up fish, being accosted by horrific things at sea in the dark, and encouraging your peers to consume eldritch abominations, this game is for you!

Also the sound design and art design are really good too. Mornings really do feel like a totally different world from the mental nightmare that is "the night fog."

Definitely worth a wishlist!

Wandering Village has you manage a village in a traditional city-builder-esque way, you have farms for food, trees to chop, rocks to mine, etc.
The twist is that you're doing all of this on the back of a MASSIVE ADORABLE LIZARD and have to guide him along winding paths, avoiding storms and unfavorable environments while scavenging what you can't harvest from the lizard along your way. I personally have played on easy and medium difficulties, and I recommend after you do the tutorial in the easy difficulty (maybe it should be in every difficulty, with an option to opt out of it each new game? Just a suggestion devs) you move to hard as it will have your brain scrambling to manage your villagers and lizard the most.

As of this current release build, the game is lacking in some aspects but strong in its core mechanics with a lot of room to build up. There could certainly be more buildings to research and build, as well as more unique hazards and benefits as you move along the path. There are only 4 environments so far, with each offering a different hazard and minor variety in lifestyle for your village.

This game doesn't just have potential, in it's current state it has PLENTY to entertain people for a long, long time.

It's essentially a mix of RTS (you yourself don't control units as much as place them in spots to defend) and tile placing games like Dorfromantik. You have to place matching tiles to get more money, build defenses, and otherwise survive another night against the ORX hordes. I've only played two of the four factions (don't quote me on this but I THINK they're the only two available right now) and the default faction is more focused on building huge castles with turrets that attack enemies, while the other is focused more on buffing their land armies to ludicrous levels.

I honestly cannot wait to see what they do next, there's just so much content in this game so far that they may just be in the finishing touches phase! Definitely worth the purchase.

It honestly shocks me that people think this game is even remotely close to 1.0.

This game is a genre similar to games like Rune Factory, you have a farm portion and a dungeon-crawling portion. In the dungeons, you can tame the monsters by throwing food at them and playing a minigame, and in town you can talk to NPCs and befriend people while participating in festivals.

The game is nowhere near complete. Each NPC has 1-2 lines they'll talk to you with daily, and they don't have routines as much as "Everyone is always in their shops until they aren't." Not to mention the game is RIFE with bugs, some of them near game breaking, I distinctly remember every exit in the center of the town pushing me back away from it for no reason, and the only way I could get to my farm to sleep on time was to teleport. A more recurring bug is that if you sprint while exiting a scene on a monster, in the next scene the monster will simply scoot their butt across the ground instead of having a running animation, and your arms will disappear. It's sad.

This game could be great. But unless there's a serious upheaval of the game in the 1.0, I have no intention of playing it further, and I can't recommend it.

P.S. A message to the writers as a gay guy: Make your gay stereotype more interesting. His only two lines being very unsubtle elbows into my solar plexus about having sex with him are boring and overdone.

This game was such a fun way to de-stress from a long work day, it doesn't take much thinking, has very satisfying mechanics, and you get to be a cute little jumping spider! Honestly while I wish the game was longer I feel it had the perfect length, nothing overstayed it's welcome (except maybe the whole 'moving really heavy objects in ways that require some modicum of precision' thing) and I felt rewarded for taking my time exploring a level.

All in all, worth the money you pay for it, and I would absolutely love to play more games like this in the future.

This game was completely worth the ride that it gave me.

The rest of the reviews and discussions on it are valid, the graphics are iconic, the music is delightful, and the story is not too complex but just enough that I'd have my fair share of "ah ha!" moments. You wander a strange island and discover various clues and puzzles to solve as well as a delightful cast of people to interact with in various ways.

One thing I didn't like was the voice over lines. I loved the voice acting, all very iconic and interesting, but I feel they were played too repetitively and a lot of the time inappropriately. You'd have a character feel angry about something totally unrelated and they'd say "WHAT ARE YOU ACCUSING ME OF, YOU'RE WRONG, HOW DARE YOU, I'LL KILL YOU" and I'm sitting there like "OKAY CALM DOWN MARY IT'S AN OPINION." This is easy to fix in whatever game comes after this one, it's mostly just a case of saving the 'breaking the mask' lines for later and playing lines that make sense where they need to be. There were a few times where a character said something akin to a catch phrase and I'd heard them speak it the line prior (where they said something totally irrelevant) and say nothing on the line itself. Just fix that and keep this talent and formula and the next game should be as good as product as it possibly can be.

THOROUGHLY abandoned by the developers.

I like the game, I have had plenty of good times in it, and when I was playing it with friends we all found it hard not to have fun. But it really could have been a lot more if the devs didn't burn out and check it off the list as done when it's got so many still yet unimplemented things they wanted to do. I can't ever in good conscience recommend a game that will never truly be finished.
