I highly recommend if you have not played this game to give it a go this game is fantastic in every way and deserves to be talked about more then it is!

So this game has been one I tried for a very very long time to enjoy, i first tried playing this game back on the 360 back when it was released. I enjoyed it a lot back then because I was a kid who didn't get new games very often and it was a shiny new experience to play.

However I never got too far back then.
I probably got to around level 20 and got bored and went back to fallout 3.

Now alot of people hold this in their top 10's of all time and if not that highly ranked as a game, and i get that.
But for me there are some major drawbacks to this game compared to the others in the series and on top of that gaming has evolved and now trying to play it with the god knows how many years in between my play through of gaming I've had since then.

Let me state I could never get into skyrim either, always want to but never can, which is sad because I have so many irl friends who tell me about their new play through and how much they are enjoying it.

The big problems I have may be subjective but I feel it's worth being said because maybe others would be able to relate to it.

1st: The game is like 80% storytelling and 20% gameplay.
The game starts slow. And what I mean by that is the world is big but it feels empty, like it's realistic but when you leave Goodsprings to get to most locations on the map there is just giant stretches of boring empty desert that can take a long time to go to and from. And I may be biased a tiny bit because I just have a negative disposition to deserts in games (like bro yellow and grey is your color pallet and maybe a cactus or some greenery every now and then.
Another thing I personally dislike is the player character being a blank slate, I loved the story of trying to find my dad in 3 and trying to find my son in 4 (even if sometimes it has the botw effect where things are going crazy in the story but i'm off doing things completely off topic) I felt a reason to keep playing and especially dad in 3 you really get to know him before things go to ♥♥♥♥ and gives you good reason to care. I am not good at making up storytelling as I go so the blank slate is very hard for me to care for on the basis of get revenge alone.

2nd: If the gameplay is not enjoyable I can't power through it to enjoy the story. This game's gameplay is infuriating at times compared to 3 or even 4. You can just walk to a place you think is cool and run into an enemy that just one shots you or is unbelievably tanky and it's just not fun when my favorite thing to do in 3 and 4 is just roam to whatever looks cool.

3rd: The hype kind of kills it for me, like skyrim I BEG for those feelings my friends have who keep telling me how good this game is, but is so disheartening when I just never reach any of it personally.

Like I said this is purely my point of view on this game and i'm glad those who enjoy it can but it's just not for me. I will say however this game definitely has my favorite soundtrack of the series by far, and the background story for your player is a nice blank slate if you're into that.

For me personally I am pained that on top of all this the steam version of this game is SOOOOOO SOOOOOO buggy for me for some reason from water glowing a blinding blue light from miles away or all characters being bald or needing mods to fix fps only because my monitor runs at 144hz.

All of these things will probably get me crucified for not enjoying this game but unfortunately I could just never get into it the way i could the other games. I would rank this my least favorite in the series excluding the first two because I have never played them and don't plan to.
