EDIT: 40 hours later and finally got 100% achievement completion, and my opinion hasn't improved. If anything, it's gotten lower.
Did you know that there are over 900 planets in this game, but only 430 possible combinations of biomes, flora, fauna, and mineral deposits? Even if each planet only had ONE biome (which they don't) there wouldn't be enough unique environments to cover even half of them.

Getting the Fleet Commander achievement also drove home how utterly useless additional ships are.. You can't even sell them for a profit, because the registration fee is equal to 80% of the ship cost, and the credits you spend on the fee don't go into the Ship Technician's credit pool.
So let's say you've got a ship valued at 40k and the vendor has 30k credits. You pay 32k for the fee. The vendor still only has 30k credits in their pool, which means you only get 30k from selling your 40k value ship.
Congrats, you just made a net loss of 2k by selling your ship T_T

=============================

I've sunk 140 hours and gotten 94% achievement completion in Starfield, and have come to one conclusion:
This game is ASS in its current state.
Starfield is absolutely RIDDLED with bugs - three NG+ runs I had to scrap because those bugs turned out to be game-breaking.
If you buy this game now, you are paying $70 to participate in an open beta.

LIST OF BUGS I HAVE ENCOUNTERED:

- NPCs randomly turning hostile and attacking you for absolutely no reason (which is REALLY bad if it happens to a certain essential NPC who happens to be living on your ship, because it prevents you from ever landing your ship due to permanently being locked in combat)

- game not spawning in assets or spawning in the WRONG assets (again, really bad because this can ruin entire quest lines)

- doors, chests, workbenches and other interactive objects randomly becoming inaccessible (can usually be temporarily fixed by saving and reloading the game in front of the object, but chances are the next time you visit that location the object will once again be inaccessible)

- suddenly being unable to save the game (all auto saves also stop occurring, meaning none of your progress going forward will be recorded)

- quest achievements failing to trigger, necessitating a NG+ run and doing the entire quest line over from the beginning

- NPCs being stuck in walls or inaccessible areas, which is bad if they're necessary for a quest

- Quest NPCs not following their scripts (biggest one is when you're supposed to follow them to a location, but they refuse to get out of their chair)

- guns on your ship jamming and refusing to fire until you refit your ship

The next few bugs are more amusing than malicious, but there all the same:

- the classic clipping through walls and falling through floors

- your old ship model not despawning when you change ships, meaning you get the weird experience of walking through a ship inside of a ship until you take off

- Enemy NPCs still being "alive" after you kill them. (they count as dead, will no longer attack, and you can loot them, but will continue to move around as if they're alive)

- companions with personal cloaking devices not decloaking or only PARTIALLY decloakinig after you exit stealth (I once spent an entire hour with Andreja whose head was stuck as invisible)

- piles of dung spawning on planets with no animal life

- entering a cave to find all of the creatures inside are already dead

- enemies on planets with low gravity being launched into high orbit when you shoot them. (and I'm talking ordinary bullets here, not even explosive weapons)

I can't believe they spent EIGHT YEARS developing this game and didn't even manage to finish it.

By the way - this game is INCOMPATIBLE with HDDs - you absolutely NEED to install it on an SSD, or the game WILL fail to run properly. All those bugs I listed before? Yeah, that's from playing the game on an SSD with recommended specs. If you try to play it on an HDD the game becomes 100% unplayable. Expect crashes and freezes every 5 minutes and NPC dialogue to take 15 seconds to load between the time they start moving their mouths and the time the audio plays and the dialogue options appear.

Take my advice and DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. Wait for the Enhanced / Definitive Edition to come out in 5 years or so.
