So after a very long play session of this game. I found myself in a couple of thoughts that I really understand and appreciated.

This game absolutely nails it's atmosphere and it made me appreciate so much more. The start of the game is very eerie and fearful, I was genuinely scared as it feels alien and dangerous but as time progresses, I gained confidence and got more familiar and to me there was a sense of 'This is the world I live in.' and frankly I've only actually 'died' maybe twice in total, thankfully insurance saved me. Once because I got mauled to death (if you know. You know.) and once because I thought I could charge through and quick snag some loot and get out before the radiation killed me. That being said. The first few times I went to a location, I was genuinely scared. After a few runs, I got familiar and more comfortable. Finally towards the end of my session, I came to a chilling yet awesome realization, I was no longer afraid of what lurked in the dark. I was what lurked in the dark.

I can forgive the bugs and some of the minor issues since it's very early on, the progression genuinely is pretty decent as I was never swimming in money and stuck by the rep grind. Although one of the item guides helps you by giving you a hint of items to save for quickly finishing a couple of the tasks which I found so late into my playthrough, I used it for one task. Overall, I like it and the immersion is quite good, much as I wanna eat something other than crackers. Lmao.

Sooo. Where to start. In general. I like roguelikes and since you can see my playtime. Yeah. You get the picture probably. But I can't being myself to give a negative review. The game has an unmistakable charm to it that I haven't felt replicated elsewhere. With the addition of multi-player (which I have no friends for) making the game seem like an absolute blast. Although the progression is slow, very slow in my opinion and that's what initially held me back from enjoying this game. I'd love to invite a friend to multi-player (if i had one) and use the other possible loadout so we each have a different setup/build and can focus on complimenting each other but I haven't unlocked it yet. It's a lovely game and I'm excited to see where they take it next. I did mention the slow progression in the discussions and actually got a response from the dev(s) so it's nice to see.

TLDR: Buy if you like the idea and roguelikes in general, but more content is definitely needed.

Pros
Charming
Fun
Solid Roguelike Experience
Multi-player

Cons
Needs more content
Slow progression.

I used to like this game and it was good but with the membership and the marketplace, it feels like the decisions that Ubisoft is making are just bad ones. It really turns me off to this game and while I have been playing less and less. That finally gave me the reason to uninstall it and just drop it all together.

You did this to yourselves, Crytek. You screw me with my charms, here is the finger back. Also, new challenge system is a massive downgrade. MASSIVE DOWNGRADE.

I played on console for a while and had enjoyed it there but now that I have moved to more of a PC gamer, I dont want to put the work, time and money back in to play it anymore.

Despite all that and my previous review, I decided to update my review,

Playing this game again is great and being a veteran player really helps because the more you learn about this game, the better. If you know what you want and how to get to it. You are in good shape. They really should fix progress transferring but I understand how it is a major challenge for them and that they would rather focus on adding content rather than taking the time to set up and balance PC/Console Cross-Save or Cross-Play.
