Putting this up now to get the review number to 100.

This game rules, it's a 2024 Final Fantasy 1/3 in the best ways.

Your own curiosity is gonna carry you through an interesting world with a simple but still thoughtful combat and progression.

Rolled credits pretty quickly at 2 and a half hours, but seems to be replayable due to a randomly generated dungeon on launch and conflicting class options.
It's not gonna blow anyone's socks off, but it is a very good on-boarding for old school dungeon crawling mechanics. It's a bit too easy, but I also have a degree of experience with the genre
That said, nothing wrong with a game just being able to have on in the background doing normal JRPG/DRPG stuff. For $7 it's totally worth it.

I had fun, and short little RPG experiences are few and far between, love highlighting good ones that exist.

I have finished the main story for this game, with the dark ending.
In a year I have finished Xenoblade Chronicles II, Bravely Default II, and finished 5.0 in FFXIV, Strangers of Sword City Revisited is my 2nd Favorite RPG I finished this year, and would recommend it by itself very easily.
I almost refunded due to errors with the launcher, but after a windows update I had 0 problems with this version of the game besides the gamepad issues people have said, I simply played on keyboard. If it's that frustrating, the game is on Vita and this dual pack is on switch.

The music, the art, and even the story which surprised me, are all excellent, but it's the gameplay in this that will stick with me. I haven't had a "fist pump" moment after beating a boss in a JRPG in a while, since Nocturne a few years ago probably, and I had several here, and that was even on easy. Even with minimal Dungeon RPG Experience, with Beginner and Easy available you should be fine with not too much grinding til the end, and even said grinding sessions were not too bad due to speed up options in battles allowing other things in the background.

I'm sad to see the reviews mixed on here which may turn people off, and there are genuine issues with the port, but keep your computer up to date or buy on Switch/Vita, and you have an amazing DRPG at your hands.

Might be the most engaging 4 hours I've ever spent in a video game.
