Good so far. Will keep you posted.

Actually I won't because who has the time to go back and edit a review.

Just know that if you're reading this, the game was good even in 2024

Arlo needs to review this damned game already.

I haven't beaten the game yet, so I'll update the review after.

Bug Fables' mission is to fill in that Paper Mario void. The first impressions of the game will satisfy this void, whereas the hours to follow really make the game feel like a distant spiritual successor with its own totally unique identity. To the reviews saying "If you like Paper Mario, you'll like this game", I would say don't limit this game to that frame of mind. This game is quite unique, with a variety of mechanics. If you play on hard mode, there is a strong amount of strategy that takes place. If you die to a boss, you are given the option to retry the fight after modifying your badge loadout. In this game, badge effects are incredibly varied and allow for many countless ways to take on a boss. You can face a boss and get absolutely obliterated, learn how the boss fights, then change your loadout accordingly in order to then do the wrecking.
There are bosses that I have faced at approx 10 levels lower than what is the average (based on what I've seen from online gameplay), that I have been able to beat after optimizing my badge strategy and exhausting my options.

Hard recommend. This game is its own thing. I've been following it for months up to release. All the reviews are positive for a reason.

Going to just throw the review in here and say congrats to the creators of this game.
Your marketing, quality of game, and intelligence has earned this game the undeniable status of VR Staple.

There are VERY few games that an average VR player will go back to more than once, very... VERY very very few.

You will come back to this game.

It is criminal how few songs Beat Saber has. Hop onto it. Update fast, and impose yourself as a VR household name. You can do it, but you gotta push.

Congratulations again, fantastic game. I recommend it, and even my girlfriend who can't play it due to fears of VR objects flying in her face recommends it.

Have you played the original?
If you have, and any of the tunes got stuck in your head, get this remake.
If you have, and none of the tunes got stuck in your head, get a doctor.

VR REVIEW---

I'd love to rate this game fairly, but I can't.
I've owned the Vive for a year or so, and I've never really felt sick until this game. It was a pain in the buns to get this game to finally work on VR (the game hard a hard time tracking my location in the menu area). When I finally learned that the menu was the only part having difficulties, the game's controls just did not sit right with me. If you move the mouse slightly, the ship rotates in that direction indefinitely until you move the mouse in the opposite direction. This is a major issue for two reasons, the first of which being the formation of carple tunnel in my wrist, and the second being the insane unintuitiveness of the controls and how nausea-inducing it gets you.
Also, the text is very hard to read, which I'm aware is a VR-only thing, but that doesn't excuse the fact that there was no real attempt to make the text readable given this handicap.

This is a VR review only, by the way. I haven't played the game on my monitor, nor am I interested in that. If you are buying this for VR, wait for fixes.

Before you hit "No" to finding this review helpful or not, take the KingPeuche challenge and go over to the reviews section of the store page, hit Ctrl+F and type in "VR", summarize the first five reviews that have "VR" in them, and take down notes.

What a great experience, with a very compelling store page.
The soundtrack and promotional video won my vote, and I'm not disappointed.

In terms of content, there isn't all that much at all. Look at the amount of time I have spent in this game - you will likely have anywhere between that and double that as of this version.

As it stands, the game definitely boasts some pretty fantastic promise. I was able to quickly envision the characters in a series, easily. The main character seems a tad too comfortable with the situations she is placed in, however I feel like this will make more sense with more of game being released.

The visuals are fantastic and every aspect of this game is refined, for what little there is. I bought this title because I see a lot of promise in the dev, and for what there is out now, it is most certainly a well placed belief. This game feels like the next Starfox 64, but in VR. That said, the gameplay and style are very consistent.
In terms of gameplay though, some kind of variation in weaponry would be much appreciated, and perhaps a better use of the touch pad and grip buttons, as they are wasted Vive Controller revenue at this point.
At this point, buy the game to support the Dev, or if you've read the Early Access notes and are all right with them. Huge thumbs up from me, but it's up to the dev to really kick things into gear and continue to release content.

I really like what I see so far, and I know the VR world is tough right now, so if there's any way I'd be able to help, please do not hesitate to reach me, I'd be willing to invest time in this project of yours.

We've come a long way in VR, over the years. I've had my Vive for around a year now, and there has never been something quite like this. Though, as a person who has bought VR, it's likely that you want to feel like you're an early adopter of something that's going to be big.
Janus VR will most likely not be that program to make it big in the online metaverse idea, simply due to it not being a big company product. It is, however, the first step to achieving that kind of universe.

As it stands, the game is horrendously buggy, and a lot of decisions layout-wise have been poorly made, for the HTC Vive's controllers at least. The game is severely underpopulated, and this makes it less engaging.
On the flipside, the community creations are impressive. The game already has a handful of websites that are supported, and the lobby features some very nice and hidden easter eggs (I found the church, devs). This game feels very similar to AltSpace, and anybody who has played that will feel at home.

Why do I recommend this? Here are my three reasons:
-It's free.
-The devs show a lot of promise, I just hope it follows through (I'll be willing to help out in any way if necessary).
-This experience will be a first for you, and you will feel like you're going to be an early adopter of something huge.

Try it out. In spite of all the glitches and unpolished features, there are a lot of things to enjoy here.

I have played this game for as long as I've had free time today, so I'll only give a quick review of the most important points.

The game is well thought out in terms of mechanics. You can choose between teleporting or manual walking, which for some is fantastic news. The game offers a tutorial in the main menu, but there is no form of tutorial in the campaign, so be sure to play that first.
Within the first hour of gameplay, there was a really fantastic mechanic used that I am shocked other VR games haven't taken advantage of. I won't specify what that is for the sake of keeping it a surprise, but it happens near an elevator.

I haven't really gotten to fighting yet, so I can't comment on that.

My two very personalized two cents: the demo was fantastic when it came out, and the boss fight was like nothing I had ever seen before in VR at the time. The full game so far feels very polished and professional, and for under 20$, I'm very comfortable in saying that you will feel like it was well spent. Give it a VertiGO!
