I've played a few Ys games by now, Lacrimosa, Monstrum Nox, Celceta and now this one.

Nordics was really fun.. I loved Lacrimosa and I think this game is tied with it for me. At first I didn't really dig the idea that we only had 2 playable characters but it grew on me quickly and now I adore Karja, she is a great character and she manages to carry the silent Adol easily, the secondary characters are also very nice.

Weirdly enough I liked the whole ship idea, sailing and all, exploring the sea and reaching new isles was fun even if a bit slow at first. The story was good and kept me entertained, the combat is just what you expect from Ys with a few changes due to the fact that we only have 2 playable characters and the new duo mechanic. The game is very clearly not about graphics since that is its weakest point, the music was very good though and I enjoyed it.

Be warned there's missables in this game! I would have 100% achievements if I didn't miss a People log in chapter 7 (curse you Lux), that being said there's not many of them. I feel like this game in particular leaned a little on the Legend of Heroes formula but it worked out fine imo.

If you already know the Ys series and played a few of them before then yeah get this one, it's fun. If you don't know Ys at all and you are interested, starting with Nordics or Lacrimosa makes sense.

By the time I'm writing this I only have 3 heroes defeated but I already think this game is great.

I've liked everything this game offers so far, combat is fantastic for someone addicted to turn based combat like me, I love the character design, I love the areas and how different they can be from each other and the details in the towns, the game is not next gen or anything but it looks and runs great (you can turn off the motion blur by adding some lines to a file btw), I like how hard the game can be on Classic difficulty, I really like how your choices matter and how they change the world around you or give you a new class if you do it right and I really like how much customization there is for your party with formations, equipment, techs, spells and abilities.

I came in with no knowledge of what the romancing saga series was about and I can say I'm very satisfied with this game.

Loved this game as a kid, this is a good remake to it. I still die in as many ways as I remember I did!

Early Access Review
After considering it for a while, I still miss solos but I at least enjoy squads a little more. I think the best we got out of their removal is the number of new players and the queues that pretty much pop at any hour now.
I do believe this is a good game and even better with friends.

One of the worst ports I have ever played. I don't recommend buying it until they fix it, if they ever do.
Also there is some censorship in the way of dialogue and some character models, make of it what you will.

At first I didn't enjoy the game too much. It felt kinda lacking in story and also the flag system was not very intuitive, I had to guess on where to find them or just go to every map talking to every npc and checking every corner, so it felt that I had to read a guide online or ask someone.

Then the game suddenly turned very fun. I got the 8 flags on my Witch and the last two stages were great. I died a few times and had to learn patterns and mechanics for a bit because my Witch was basically made of thin glass, which I liked, her damage was pretty high though. Good stuff.

After I finished the game I found that the game had much more to do and to learn. Bosses change patterns and add even more to their skills and movesets as you increase the quest level. Items get better and you become increasingly powerful as well. It was really fun to get in there and learn the new mechanics and get new equipment that allowed me to keep going forward.

Also there's multiplayer and it was very fun to play with friends but I don't think you will find anyone playing online these days unless you ask around in the discord.

If you are the kind of person that enjoys a good challenge and if you like games like Megaman Zero and with some gear grinding, this one seems likely to be for you.

I really think this game is fantastic and you get your money's worth, it's a very nice/cute game that revolves around gathering materials to do alchemy and you progress in the game by doing so. Granted the story is not exactly deep or anything but it's very enjoyable anyway.

If you have never tried any Atelier game before and you were always curious about the franchise, I really would recommend starting here. This is probably the one I enjoyed the most out of the Atelier games I played so far.

This game is a 9/10 for me, because it could have been slightly longer story wise, still a good game regardless and we got extra content via DLC now.
