My friends and I were looking for something to do, so we decided to buy No Man's Sky.

The first mistake.

The entire first hour of gameplay consisted of feeble attempts to join the stars among the ether of space, only to die over and over and over to heat, suffocation, and terrible, terrible robots.

Our first planet we started on was absolute hell to traverse, as we needed to find scarce materials in order to stay alive to complete any sort of objective, and right when we would find sodium to recharge our heat protection, our life support systems would die.

The game is tedious and boring after the first five minutes of playing in a state of wonder at the world before you.

I was under the impression that the game had undergone a drastic metamorphosis after the trainwreck release, but I was sorely disappointed. There is so little to do in the game without getting annoyed with just about every part of the game.

In a game inclusive of soaring through the cosmos, the ship feels like playing skee-ball but the lane you roll the ball against is made of ice and someone oiled the ice. The target is also always smaller than the ball, so you're guaranteed to never, ever land your shots on enemy pirates.

No part of me wants to return to No Man's Sky, and I would much rather break my own knees with a cast-iron skillet than play another minute of this awful, awful game.

This game starts out quite tediously, as you cannot do much to fight against the monsters lurking in the night and in caves, but as you progress through the game, you can see yourself getting stronger and stronger as you obtain new items and accessories that give you that winning edge. The game can get boring after playing it over and over, but at that point, you can download various mods that make the game that much more fun, and each mod will usually add double the amount of content in the game.

The combination of skill and blind luck make the game so exciting, and it's so pleasing to the eye to see that white bag with the illustrious blue string. The only qualm I have with the game is that it is supremely pay-to-win, and pets make the game easier when the permadeath game is meant to challenge the player. I think that Deca Games is doing a phenomenal job with the game, and that they should keep doing what they're doing.

Early Access Review
Salt is an amazing and immersive online experience that makes you feel as if you're swashbuckling pirates on the coast of an alien island. The lack of backstory for your character gives you so much space to improvise and be creative with your own legend. The massive open world game gives the player so many opportunities to explore for themselves and find all sorts of lore-based items. The boats, although glitchy at times, are an amazing segue from island to island. Personally, one of my favorite things to do is to while on a boat waiting for the next island to appear is to fish or to read one of the many, many books found around the game. The combat system, although very rudimentary, can be quite stimulating and the player can't help but feel rewarded with the game's looting system. Many of the items, while seemingly useless, have many secret parts to them that allow users to access opportunities along the way that wouldn't normally be an open door. The game works fantastically, and the content of the game gives off a vibe that makes the player feel accomplished. I seriously recommend the purchase of this game.

Edit: I also recommend that the player experiences everything on their own, meaning:

DON'T LOOK THE GAME UP!

It's way more fun to experience everything on your own!
