Community United.
Dev's supported the community the best they legally could.

the people spoke out, and democracy returns with vengeance.

Prepare to dive again soliders.

This game was on a wish-list and found it on sale that made crazy cheap. And that felt like a 'good' price for this game.
The animators here put in a lot of work, there's plenty of writing and jokes here and there, and i like a bit a humor in a game, it helps immersion within. But this game...

I was all excited about building/customizing a ship, using crew etc, and so I started with high hopes, the trading system seemed a bit. cumbersome with the UI, but then MAIN quest was like "intro tutorial to combat, go!" But then comes the fatal flaw of the game, combat is horrid.

You have no control over ship direction/movement. You get 'flee/ram/circle/flyby' options to give to navigator, which.. okay neat, but the application was failure, those commands don't really even do much. Raming, the ship has a 'hard' time turning (say over 1 minute for less then 90degree turn) and the others have similar results, which made Directional-dependent weapons practically worthless. So I had a ship full of ammo bays (figured tutorial mission could be done with basic 1 weapon/1ammo bay) i channel my inner no-such-thing-as-overkill came in 3 weapons 5 ammo bays and shield ... and i ran out of ammo on the tutorial fight mission (phase 2).
--- fine whatever can do minimal fights and try to complete it in more passive modes. but even retreating took awhile, (multiple minutes) of just.. watching the ship move pixel by pixel away from the other ship which apparently could navigate and spin on a dime.
--- which then got to my last straw, the time delay and just .. waiting in travel time. no interactions, just.. waiting the 'fast forward' button there, doesn't help enough. Normally i alt-tab to read/surf while waiting for these voyages in game, or just fast-forward.. But this game doesn't come with a windowed-boarder-less option AND pauses while alt-tab (not able to run if not focused on) so i can't even pass the time waiting doing something that's entertaining vs just.. waiting for a game ship to fly.

if the devs had some simple options it'd make it more enjoyable for me at least, and if the devs abandoned both their games as they have of this post, this wont change.
It's worth the time if it's on sale, but otherwise avoid. while i did enjoy this game, the art/music was good, the story, streched but kept kinda interesting a bit, but forced-combat,bad-combat, forced waiting killed it for me.

Early Access Review
First off, It's a NO to recommend.

Simple reason, it's been in "Alpha" Development (Early Access) for over a decade. The game has made major updates, but I come back after waiting a few YEARS and not only has there been very little change in overall game-play. Some things are more variety of blocks and customize buildings with AMAZING detail, with some really intense moments, yet they still haven't fixed some basic quality of life fixes. And what also grinds my gears is they practically removed Solar Cells from the game, of course there's a VERY slim chance that a vendor gets one, every.. x number of days, or doing high level missions for a slight chance, while removing the ability to craft it. Not make it more complex, rarer/harder to build, or say even require a special drop in ORDER to build, they made solar basically useless as a reliable source of power. Sure you get the generators, but.. they haven't fixed the fuel issue, i dont want half my game just being mining for oil to get gas to fill the tank just to run out before doing anything, Can get complex with base building, but their electrical application with 1 parent only, is @#%#'d up. even putting a single item in game that'll allow say multiple battery parents to it would greatly allow larger builds to operate, if they were to make this solar unreliable from loot.

keep in mind I'm not creative player, or going to admin on a public server but as vanilla server.
Most of the updates I've read are nice, doing good, but fine tuning a game mechanics and balancing can safely and generally be done AFTER release. Get the basic end-game builds operating. Then add in the pretty blocks, or remove some (upgrading did become easier by removing steps involved, kinda had mixed feelings cause one side it's easier/cheaper/faster, but the other has more 'accomplishment' feeling when you make a steel-reinforced underground solar-powered, auto-detecting-door/turrent defense that most wouldn't even see in a forest was quite enjoyable.

don't get me wrong, they are "working" on it, and making progress, but 10 years in Early Access is just insulting IMHO, and leaving after years, to find it almost exactly the same, besides eliminating solar basically, and more block choices, And the main game UI being the same and multiplayer menu could do for a complete overall for user-sake alone.

Wait for a sale only, then pick it up, but full price for a game that may never be finished, ehhhh...
You can have fun with this, and get lost in the time. But if you find a good 'crew' of people or a nice public server it could change the base fundamental play of the game.

First Screen, right off the bat, trying to fix sound and screen settings, but typical click on what you want to change or effect... does NOT work, you got to first, from Option menu itself, click on Options first, THEN the next 'category' before it'll show you the actual options, (and right click to cancel to go back 'up' to previous choice)and even then, you can't click on the bar but make it go up/down 1 click at a time. So it DEFINITELY feels like strictly made for controller with mouse support as a side-afterthought. Even the on-screen controls show "select" with spacebar and "ctrl" for back. if you aren't going to have proper mouse support, don't put it in at all?

First level. Game freezes for 5-10 seconds, no keyboard controls work.
Trying to get in-game menu to try to get options, Half the time ESC didn't work or P wouldn't open menus, so had to quit the game to try to lower the settings even further, which was on default low, then lowered resolution few times.

Any game you have to do so much, just say your a controller-based game, and say keyboards not well supported. don't make me hit 208 buttons just to reset the level or escape, or even change volume. So bad startup impression I would refund it cause it'd take more then 2 hour to try to diagnose just exactly what's going wrong.|Went to borrow controller, and low-and-behold the game functions so much better, just proves it wasn't designed for keyboard/mouse for me. Should be posted on main page.

Edit : Plus after getting out of the first mission, had to reset the controller a few times (fully charged and default Xbox controller) cause the game chose to ignore the left stick's input after a load screen (fell off edge, oops). I haven't been able to get around first map without issues. then load screen tells me how to change outfits, cool, go to title screen... wait how do i get there again? ... after 5-10 minutes of exploring the menu, found no way to return to main menu.. so Alt-F4 it is.... Menus are NOT this difficult to make quite user-friendly

Editx2: Played for awhile more, using both keyboard/mouse (to test) and controller(to play/enjoy the game). This game is great if your console/controller based. But if PC, I would expect some basic fundamental UI ... well "basics" IE: you click on an option, it goes to it, not 3 other options so it will "unlock" your sound bar. can't just go to it and click. not major, but this applies to EVERYTHING in the game.

Yes, there are "Free" updates, and they are doing changes slowly, sure. It's the AAA price-tag and to put it kinda bluntly, a crap-show-poor PC-port job. As a console, sure put that Price up, but come to the PC world, there's basic standards for AAA games, such as FAR more control (without moding/file editing) on your graphic settings.

Some things I don't mind options being limited in like graphics, such as framerate, why are they making so few options? idk, but since the human eye for 90% of the population can't tell much above 60 fps, anything above that is basically useless for me.

TLDR: Great game, horrible price for POOR pc port by Sega. MUST have controller to really 'enjoy' and control the game. Get it under $30 and it'll be worthwhile buy, but there's no "recommend on sale" option.

I WANT to like this game. It's been out a short awhile, had a sale, bought copy and for a friend.

WARNING: Co-OP is Broken..
--Now, newer game, maybe new crew, awesome. Learning & creating a game is great. so they get plenty of lee-way on this, plus they have to compete with other similar games (Like Raft) and they start with what i wanted to try in that game, the base building part. Nice world creation idea to.

The part I must WARN people who are looking for co-op or any multiplayer, the game forces host, and all other players to 'sync' up, pulls out all the players into a new load screen, which may or may not actually connect. (black screen with loading word on it) so you can't even play while others attempt to connect, (if it was seconds, or maybe 1 min game freeze, doable) but sitting 4-10 minutes to have it connect, not feasible. (which, while doing this, put us over the "time played" to not qualify for refund)

Until they get this fixed, it really made the whole interest of doing this with friends and exploring the world of this game strictly unplayable.

Disclaimer: besides attempting to join/create other sessions online, I have NOT explored the single player experience, as a general review of other reviews, the amount of bugs and play for a single player does not appeal to me nor do i have confidence that it's been polished enough to be tolerable play for a full-release game. I 100% have the feeling of this is/should be a beta/public test/alpha state of development of this game.

Fun game right now, best with friends and others you know.
Word of warning, right now hacking and poor common person gameplay is horrible.

Quiters are too rampant, causing bad quality games, and apparently you can do it often w/o repercussion.
Common game settups from that start, are favored to the imposter a bit much (5-10 tasks with a 10s CD) kills and vote wins are likly.

But, it's like digital werewolf, which is great, and voice talking about it is even more fun, so has a GREAT setup for a game, once they fix the glaring hack problems,

Good Game, it's oldie.
But the story is nice. Few tough areas to get past in the game. But for a few hours, you can get the whole setting done. Very enjoyable quick game. For the price, it's well worth it

Unable to get the game to load at proper resolution. Steam community had multiple 'fixes' but none worked. Not going to play a game that's unable to load it's screen properly.
Tried going to lowest window mode, and all options the game had. None took. Not going to spend more hours just trying to figure out how to load the game.
If this is fixed, will revise.

Early Access Review
Tried to play multiple times. Coming back every few months. But can't even really get the game to run.
Mouse wont move much, can't change the settings easily, if at all. Crashes in the options menu.
Dev's haven't updated in over 14 months.

Even a simple *hey we haven't forgotten* would prevent this from what it seems to be.
Abandonware.

Good potential. But. I can't even get 15min of solid game play before crash or freeze.
