Wishlisted this game and then forgot until it launched, immediately bought it on launch. Devs have been active in the community, and the very quickly put out patch that addresses the community problems shows that. The community's really nice too!

I wrote my first review when I only played 5.8 hours of the game, and even then, I had a blast with the game. Now, with 195 hours in and getting 3rd place in a community run tournament, and running a tournament myself, I came back to revise my review.

The gameplay is much like competitive pokemon, you and your opponent bring in a fighter, and you select a move without knowing the opponent's selected move. However, what I find most interesting in this game is that it does not have the random effects that can happen in pokemon. Statuses are not applied by chance, a critical hit is not random, and neither are misses, which are parries in this game. However, other reviews will talk about this at length, so I'd like to focus on another side of the game.

The community of Bravery Network Online, or as we call it, Beano, is welcoming and kind. The discord server has about 1500 members, although not that many speak, but there are definitely dozens of helpful and kind players that are active in the discord. Along with the players are the devs who might drop by to let us know if an update is delayed or when it is releasing, or letting us know there's a bug fix stream soon, or even sometimes, just chilling with everyone else.

Strategizing the game has been made easy by the numerous people ready to help you make your dream team, the community is familiar with obvious game plans, and have started to go deeper into more obscure, weird strategies. What this means for newer players is that whatever you need to know about a fighter in the game, or even a play style, the community will be able give an answer. Not only are there people to answer, but there are a few videos out there that can help in creating a team, or on certain team archetypes, made by the community itself!

The Beano community doesn't just strategize of course, we like to talk about everything in the game! To the art style, to the character design, the tiny little details of their clothes, and even what we think about a character's personality. The character design of beano leads to beanosonas, which are very much welcome!

So what is Beano missing? Personally, I think it needs more players. If you are in the US, it will likely be easy for you to find a game, and if not, you can find a match in the discord. However, if you are in other areas, it may be a bit harder. That's why we need more people! If you like cute, queer character designs and a skill based combat game, Bravery Network Online is for you!

Cute, quick, and fun! If you want a quick (less than 10mins) deckbuilder to play, this definitely scratches that itch. simple enough but can get hard if you don't work your way around the board well.

For those who are unclear with the deckbuilding aspect, the potions and weapons that appear are limited by the amount in your deck as far as I can tell. Killing bosses can add more weapons to the deck, and progressing will lead to getting tougher enemies added in to the mix that can also drop items.

This is the best game ever, if someone buys a character its not unfair because you'll unlock it later on!
