Good low stress and fun execution of the causal "cleaning" simulator genre where you get to build WW2 tanks.

This is actually a great game, if the NPCs would shut up.
Gameplay wise, it has the same vibe and soul as all the previous titles but refined.

One other gripe I have is that the characters don't really feel as unique as previous titles. They all seem to play way too similarly compared to BL2.

Will change review once this is resolved so I can actually play the game

Campaign feels so scripted feel like I'm playing a click and point adventure game.
Also the game has so many weird ass UX design decisions.
- Random scripted quick time events no one asks for that makes you break your keyboard
- Have to watch the same helicopter crash scene every time you enter the main menu/exit the game
- When the game script kicks in for you to move to the next area, you can take 30 shots and still be alive, otherwise you die in 2 shots
- Unskippable cut scenes which you have to watch everytime you die

Probably my favourite indie game of all time and one of my favourite games.

It's probably not the most intuitive game on the first play-through but things start to make sense pretty fast when you understand what the game is trying to do.

Some minor quality of life stuff that can be improved on but nothing too major that you would'nt expect from an indie game of this type.

Only American Campaign. Dialog/Scenes are overtly chauvinistic makes the characters feel super unrealistic and disconnected. Basically the same battles captured by every other film & TV. D-Day, Rhine, Bulge. No new substance but didn't really improve the nostalgic experience of previous titles. Game feel super scripted

A lot of bugs that really shouldn't exist with these AAA titles. Had to restart few missions because certain scripts didn't run.

Aside from the bugs, gameplay felt smooth. My guess is that they didn't really invest a lot in the single-player and focused more on multiplayer aspect.

Ultimately this game is boring. Play Civ5 instead, it's way better.

Key Features:
- Districts is a nice idea, but I don't think its executed too well. Major concern is that there's not really a lot of build choices within each district and the majority of build time is in building the district itself which locks you in and you're just waiting for majority of the game.
- More emphasis on tile management rather than build ordering

Pros:
- Districts could be interesting
- Different win scenarios (Religion pretty interesting)
- Causus Belli as opposed to the simple warmongering system
- Unit stacking and armadas gives more dynamic unit compositions
- Simple map view takes less CPU/GPU resources for lower performing computers (laptops, etc)

Cons:
- Weird cartoonish "politically correct" models
- Very linear build orders with emphasis on districts rather than buildings
- Can't stack wonders, wonders must be built on tiles
- Too much waiting without much to do and bonuses are so minimal that you don't really feel like anything was accomplished.
- Too much emphasis on tiles and once those tiles are occupied mid game, there isn't really much to do as building options are really linear and limited

I didn't like the controls or the way the the camera works. It has this auto rotation feature which makes it hard to click on the spot you want. The items you pick up are typically garbage and you can't really grind. The end game is essentially a dodge fest where you get instant killed and has to fight against the awful controls.

Also the multiplayer is really stupid, you can only join and help the host essentially, no benefit to your character in anyway.

Perfect game if you like wasting time playing a chill & relaxing turn based game. This game takes a lot of time, but it's my favourite 4X game and my favourite Civilization game. (way better than Civ VI)
Although there are some minor annoyances, mainly the notification UI could be polished abit and other civs like to sometimes pop up and tell you how awesome/despicable you are and it gets pretty annoying with no option to turn it off.

Takes a bit of an initial learning curve, but if you start on an easier diffculty, the game isn't too punishing. After that its basically the same drill. That's why I recommend getting some mods or making your own. (They're just XML files, its fairly easy to do if you're not doing LUA scripts, lots of documentations)

The DLCs add some depth but not worth the $20 each when I bought it. Its arguably worth it when its on sale for like $9.
