Best 40k game, period.
While there are some issues, I think the core of the game (the campaign and operations modes) are fantastic.

On the issues, there are a few quality of life problems, such as the armory not being linked between pvp and operations, meaning you have to spend a lot of time putting armor and colors together for classes on both.
Also navigating these menus, by moving through the hub, can be annoying as the game wants to find and get you in a match while you're trying to do something else.

And pvp is just very underwhelming. Mostly because of combat jankiness that clearly was not designed for pvp.
(With more playtime I would correct this by saying that combat in pvp takes time to get used to, much like learning how to play pve. Once you do, the pvp is incredibly fun, just needs more content)
I definitely recommend this game and hope the devs add a lot more content in the future.

TLDR: mixed bag.
Lots of good stuff, and in some ways an improvement over R1, however a lot of issues plague this game that make me unable to recommend it to anyone until the devs can drop several nuke-level patches.

Good:
- Solid gunplay
- Visually nice
- Unique worlds and designs
- Some cool boss and miniboss gimmicks
- Coop/online play with Offline available
- Good enemy variety and designs.

The bad:
- Runs like a man without legs (no joke I'm running this game with DLSS on ultra performance and all graphics settings turned down to Low in order to play with a stable 100fps, its THAT bad)
- Lots of "Bs" enemy design that is far less "difficult" and a lot more "I might as well just run past them because fighting them is a giant waste of time"
- Game's sense of difficulty is pretty much just overwhelming you with different enemy types. They're great enemies, but they're always bunched together to overwhelm you with numbers.
- Messy UI. Feels like a console game
- Game was made for COOP with singleplayer ignored. It sounds so strange to say, considering the opposite is what usually happens. In most games coop feels slapped onto the side, in this you can tell with every enemy encounter that 2 players are almost always required, especially with a lot of bosses. If you play solo you are putting yourself at a severe disadvantage that the game does not account for, making many enemy encounters (as stated above) downright frustrating.

The good stuff is good, and I loved remnant 1, but in so many ways this feels like either a step back or just too much of a mess to recommend.

After 20 hours and playing some Vermintide 2, I think I need to redo this review.

Darktide is a great, but very undercooked game.

Crafting doesn't exist in the game, but it will. What does exist is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cash shop. Because of course.

Looting is basically non existent. At least, I cant really tell you how looting works, sometimes you get loot, most of the time you dont. Most loot is earned in the in-game store, where you need to grind to get enough coins to buy anything. Most of it is garbage.

There are weekly tasks, these vary from kill X enemies to finding X items and doing X amount of missions.
It's terrible.
If you don't have the time to spam several missions a day, it's difficult to keep up with and most of the good loot comes from completing these tasks and getting the currency required from them to get the good loot.
Not to mention, one of the game's main features is the changing missions. Sometimes certain enemy types will or wont spawn, along with other factors. Good system, terrible if you have a task to kill X enemies, but that type wont spawn in any of the missions.

There's also a lot to be said about character customization. The character creator is great.
But you're stuck with one ability per class, one grenade type, and very little armor/cosmetics unless you use that functioning cash shop.
You start by feeling limitless, then you play and realise that's all you get.

There's a great variety of guns, but after a while you end up sticking to one type you like, and unless you purchase cosmetics (which can be bought with in-game currency) you're gonna be stuck with the exact same looking gun for the entire game.

I like Darktide, I do. But after playing Vermintide I've realised just how big of a downgrade darktide is compared to fat shark's previous title.

I expect this game to be frequently updated until all these issues and more are addressed.
I expect. Doesn't mean it will happen.

Its okay.

If you want cod, you got cod.

My biggest issues with this game are all the things it changed, not the things that remained the same.

> Weapon balance is still bad, as always.
> Progression is a mess, you grind one gun to unlock an attachment for another gun that requires you to grind a different gun to unlock.
> The User Interface is awful, I mean seriously bad like whoever made it should be fired... from a cannon... into the sun.

But its cod. Gunplay feels great, movement is good. its cod.

The campaign isn't as good as I'd hoped. Yes there's a lot going on, but the story is weak at best. There's also a lot of "hey, member this thing? Well, its here, just not nearly as good in any way and completely lacking the context which made it good in the first place".

The addition of a 3rd person moshpit mode is great, and I honestly enjoy it more than first person, due to the movement systems. Wish they'd expand on it.

7/10

This feels like every shooter combined into one... or crammed... crammed is a better word for it.

Hero/operators? Yep.
Survival-ish mode? yep
Pretty much every mode you could think of? Sure.
Guns with accessories? definitely.
Skins? You bet.

That should be good, right? Well no, because it's all of these things but crammed together but no quality behind it.

The operator's have trash abilities you almost never use because there is no point, just run and gun and hope the ping is stable enough for you to get kills. They also have unique access to certain areas of the map, and specific interactions with objects, which seems cool except then it just feels like operators are more limited, as you can't do all the things only one of those things. Just let me jump up onto high areas or kick things around, the less limitations the more fun.

The gunplay is just plain bad for an fps. Bullets spray like crazy unless you aim and you BETTER have good ping or you might as well not bother playing.

PvE is that new type of open-world do the objective type mode. It's just as meh for the other issues the game has.

Overall I just dont see the point playing unless you dont want to spend money on any other game that does these things but better.

Early access? Yeah no, this feels feature-complete, just unpolished.
