Good solid game, for those who like the explore, gather, build, and conquer type of progression rpgs.

This game has been a fun (if also punishing) introduction this game format, and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to see the world of Warhammer illustrated in such fantastic, bloody detail. If you like detail oriented tactical battles than I can scarcely recommend a game I personally like more.

So, just got done with the Normal campaign, and thought I'd leave my thoughts on it.

For Those Who Might Want To Play: The game has good opening introduction, a constant dark and oppressive atmosphere that matches the tone of the game, lots of lore tidbits for those who like that, that also reward exp for exploration. The class combination that I chose, Occultist/Demolitionist, was very fun, I liked that there were obvious flexibility choices as far as the styles of combat to choose from. I would have preferred access to better firearms/crossbows throughout the game. I felt mostly pidgeon holed into using two handed weapons to get the most damage done, with the best buffs, though what the dps counter showed for the weapons might not be telling the whole story. I wish there could have been a bit more diversity to the boss fights, like hazard events that you would need to interact with or avoid to progress/prevent a wipe. The extreme majority of the bosses were pretty Spank-n'-Tank, the last boss being the only one that I felt it necessary to regularly disengage from for my own good.

To The Developers: I would stand by giving the game a 9/10 for general enjoyability. It is not "rock-star amazing" like its the best thing ever, but I never once thought in my current 33 hours in, "Why am I playing this, or wow this is boring." I love the progression and escalation of the story. My class combo was very fun, very bursty, which kept the pace up instead of difficulty dragging me to a stand still. I would say that I wish there was more content, after the conclusion of act 4. The story feels rushed to a conclusion, or rather that I don't feel satisfied with where our involvement with the story stops. I would happily comment more elaborately on this, but will avoid leaving spoilers for the game here on the Review. Feel free to contact me if you want more feedback.

I love this game for a several simple reasons. 1) You are not hardcast into a particular role with one story, your reason for fighting can be anything. 2) You choose your own level of game immersion and interaction with other players. 3) Events and Updates occur on a regular basis, there is plenty to do. 4) The game is STILL in beta, as much as I like the game, it is not even close to finished yet. When will it be finished? No one knows, but that just means there is much to look forward to. 5) This game is free to play, in the truest sense. There are absolutely no weapons in this game or Warframes that you cannot get if you are active and are willing to invest time in it, you only have to pay for cosmetic options and knick-knack pieces of gear.

That said I will acknowledge the downsides of this game. 1) There is a lack of lore that makes it difficult to completely conceptualize the story of the game. Warframe has vast potential for what I feel would be an amazing storyline. This is recognized by many Warframe fans and has lead to the creation of many bodies of Fanfiction work and creative drawing. However, this work is not "canon" and so no matter how great the stories created by the fans are, they cannot be used as references for how the game is actually progressing. The only sources of lore available to players are obscure references made during events and from the spiritual ancestor game to Warframe, Dark Sector. 2) The game has a steep learning curve for people who are not used to shooters or high dexterity games. On top of this, the tutorial is rather scant on information and so, many players do not grasp much of the controls afterwards. While this encourages players to communicate with others, it defeats the purpose of a turtorial. 3) If you are unable/unwilling to sink money into this game, prepare to farm. The farming necessary to gather materials for this game is both long in duration and tedious on the mind. If you get bored easily, this aspect of the game will become rather troublesome for you.

The farming is rough, becoming knowledgable about the game is time consuming, and the game does not have a concrete plot. However, my experience with this game has been mostly positive. This game gets a 3.75 of 5 because 4 is too generalized a number, and this game does have its flaws. That said, the game is still in beta, so there is hope for the future. The combat is fast paced, aggressive, and varied, owing to the large selection of customizable Warframes and arsenals. Unlike most gaming communities that I have interacted with, Warframe has a largely friendly and helpful community, and if you so choose, you may minimalize your involvement with other people, no missions in the game HAVE to have more than one person to complete them. More people just makes the missions easier. Digital Extremes, the developing company for Warframe is very active in community and interacts with the players on a regular basis, and hosts regular livestreams to keep players up to date with approaching events and developements.

Warframe is a solid third person shooter with a bright future. Recommended? Yes.
