Ill preface this by saying I completed the story at the second hardest difficulty (KOTJ) but with nutrition depletion at normal

This game Is great, it is challenging and makes you think on your feet, it makes you take precautions plan your trips ETC.
The food and hunting mechanics mesh well together and feel relatively realistic, I wouldn't personally recommend maxing out the food difficulty though as it became a bit absurd how much water, nutrients etc you needed to consume every two seconds.
The map is interesting and feels alive, when combined with the challenge of the hazards it makes the game a real challenge. Everything can kill you basically, but if you don't do stupid things and keep your eyes open you can survive.

Probably heard this compared to the forest and it is similar in a few aspects but considerably more dangerous survival mechanics.

Kinda mild spoilers
****************
My main gripe with the game isn't that its bad at being a survival game or being a bad story game, but there is one or two instances where i felt the two didn't mesh properly and ruined the gameplay a little.
There's several sections to the map slowly discovered over the game but once you realise that soon the story will take you to the next section building bases and setting up proper camps became meaningless to me. Why would i build a camp when i'll have to move on soon, there's also several man made structures that you find and they often had a bed, and a place to sleep which is the main issues, I couldn't justify setting up a base, spending ages collecting resources when all i had to do was walk to one of these structures and i had all the structure i needed.

This is all a long winded way of me saying i felt the progression of the story and some pre-made buildings very much discourage making any meaningfully sized base which removes lot of the time and fun you could have.
Obviously a lot of people wont care about this and will build bases regardless but for me it felt too pointless, if i had to recommend a fix it would be to start by removing the ability to save at the pre-made structures make the player invest some time in building something to save at.

If you can over look this the game is excellent, has a fantastic story and the survival mechanics really make you feel like you could die at any wrong turn! Worth the money

Used to play stellaris a decent amount its a fun time waster and enjoyable experience for the most part.

Hadnt played for a few months then tried to start the game today. Now apparently the game need to install some new launcher but the launcher wont install so now i cant start the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. Why!!! it started fine before this addition never had an issue. Uninstalled the game now because it literally cant be played, thanks paradox what were you thinking

My advice is avoid this game until you know at least this issue is fixed because it would literally be a waste of money.

Edit:

Whilst this problem still persists it will now sometimes load by running the executable from from the games files, although this is hardly a permanent solution for me.

I preordered the game. Despite its bugs this game is pretty solid, most of the gripes people had at launch have been fixed. The Ai for me has bee quite detailed and made decent decisions based on events, I made an alliance with one faction and we plowed through most of Europe together.

I still feel the game is not too well optimised though as there's a few frame drops even on the campaign map however it doesn't affect the gameplay as a whole
I played Rome 1 extensively and this is a nice change to the mechanics compared to Rome 1 I like the idea of sea battles although I always lose them, and the diplomacy is much improved, alliances mean something and map information or trade agreements actually net you a gain

Ships no longer sail on land as well, immersion level over 9000
I r8 8/10 wud recomend

Edit:

I have to say my piece on the ridiculous number of paid dlcs CA continued to force out, whilst I appreciate more and more content many of these dlcs feel as if they should have come with the base game, especially the blood and gore one, its ridiculous making players pay an extra fee to effectively turn on a mature setting, something which is included in any other game free of charge, shame on you CA you're becoming microtransaction shills, I'm surprised you havent implemented ♥♥♥♥♥ loot boxes

I like how you can throw villagers of high cliffs and they live, apart from that one guy who went splat and died, and my pawns then wouldnt shut up about the dangers of cliffs after they watched me kill him.

Pros:
-Boss battles are epic, climbing up and smacking them in the face, well designed bosses.
-I like the pawn system you find some funny character creations.
-Class/"vocation" system is great can change at any time between mage, fighter or ranger or any combination of those, allows you to find your playstyle.
-Massive map
-Balanced difficulty nothing is so hard you dont think you can ever do it (played on Normal mode)
-Pretty awesome special attacks and mage spells keeps combat interesting

Cons:
-Game needs fast travel its a chore walking everywhere in this huge map
-enemy respawns are ridiculous, you cant clear any areas because the enemies will just spawn again once there out of view.
-Voice acting a wee bit repetative. Most of the pawns speak the same. However theres a lot more diversity when it comes to main quest NPCs

Recommend this game if you like RPGs the boss battles are worth any cons personally
anyway i rate 33/38.2 wud play ageen
