As a (now) free-to-play game, PUBG is fun and I can recommend it on this sentiment alone. The barebones, somewhat realistic, battle royale shooter is overall calmer and more calculated than its competitors (Fortnite, Apex Legends). But the dated graphics and controls take away from this experience. Most unforgivable is the cosmetic economy that was ushered in with the shift to F2P. I have never experience a more convoluted system, with several different currencies and materials with no explanation on how things work, let alone how the player might even begin to optimize what they can earn.
