Is Pokemon TCG or Rock, Paper, Scissors just as competitive as Chess? *Note: I was tired and did not proof-read my comment, I meant to use the question mark instead of the period.

Furthermore, just because an activity is competitive does not mean that it is just as competitive as other activities. Is Pokemon TCG or Rock, Paper, Scissors just as competitive as Chess. There are certain elements that make an activity more or less competitive when in comparison to another.

The structure and rules of the activity dictates the level of competition AKA "how competitive an activity is" in that it creates an artificial skill ceiling. This creates a situation in which players cannot improve and become equal with everyone who has hit that ceiling. Those activities with rules or structures that create a lower skill ceiling are less competitive because it creates more limitations on competition than those with a higher skill ceiling. Mind you, it is not to say that the activity with a lower skill ceiling is not competitive in its own right, especially considering that any activity can be competitive as long as there are parties contending for the same end, but it is not as competitive as an activity with a higher skill ceiling. And in sports there are no artificial skill ceiling that inhibits a player from improving created by the activity, which is why you could argue basketball is just as competitive as baseball.
