Early access with a responsive developer, solid single player building to multiplayer so issues as it grows, that accepted a 3rd person pressure filled sunset is very bad kind of game, very fun for me. A game mixed of survival, explore, craft, base build, horde night, rpg/mmo like skill trees, cooking, fish, but if you don't keep your base design revised as the threat grows daily, you might regret your life choices.
The game is flexible enough to allow you a custom setting so if the speed of the day, the size and quality of the hordes attacking at night, resource respawn, adjustable death penalty and more. A sophisticated collection of mechanics they are currently implementing allows you to melee and range, however there are biomes that are inhospitable to you requiring potions, special armor and more.
So have fun while you find and fulfill your destiny!

A solid survival game, although brutal, once you understand the mechanics of death thru either combat or environment you can easily adapt to succeed.
