I dearly love this game, have been playing and following since the first playtest and have hung on through the growing pains. I did take a hiatus and missed a couple seasons, so when I came back I instantly noticed the giant difference. The balance feels fantastic, the end of the battle royal format actually lets new players rat and old rats thrive. Iron Mace has been active and receptive to feedback the entire development process and has my respect. I hope the game continues on its current trajectory and am excited for future developments.

This game is fantastic and has the potential to be truly phenomenal. It scratches the itch that i usually scratch with Project Zomboid and Rimworld. It's got a rather steep learning curve, which frankly just adds to the appeal to me, and I had several "dry" runs before I really got the hang of it. Even then, I'm always kept on my toes. Excited to be a part of the early access of this game and for those of you who know how to handle early access games I cannot recommend it enough.

I did not like it at all at first, but when I came back and started using advanced settings to get the game experience I wanted, the game shined. It felt just like RobZ, I was pleasantly surprised.

I put in a solid thousand on Warband, and did 150 hrs in less than 2 weeks now on Bannerlord. Hits the vibewell, can't wait to see further development and Steamworkshop. Highly recommend, but be prepared to get trounced in multiplayer. Folks out there got skills.

Kenshi scratches many itches.
The 'Build you own Story' itch of Rimworld.
The 'Find your own Fortune' itch of M&B: Warband.
The 'Dark Mirror of Human Nature' itch, of classic Fallout games,
and a modding community that constantly breathes new life into this experience.

I dearly love all this game is, and all it promises to become as the community endures and the sequel is developed and recommend it to anyone looking for the kind of gaming experience that only becomes deeper and deeper as you're left to your own devices.

I've lived through chapters of my life on this game. The nostalgia is almost overwhelming P:
The graphics may not have aged well, but my love for this game never diminished.

I love this game with a passion, to the point I believe it should spawn a genre of its own.

First 5 hours I didn't have an operational gun, i wandered aimlessly and glitched to death 3 times in a row, then was killed by bandits twice.
(Roleplay(ish))

Just as I though maybe i should take a break, meet up with a random other freshie who'd never been on this private server before. He and i hookup and we begin the lootathon towards Elektro. In one of the small villiages outside of the city we heard a voice, I hid, he talked and we found a new member. We then took over Elektro, not resorting to banditry, simply warding folks off. One bandito gets too close chasing another guy and is killed instantly, and we have our fourth member. While looting his body, we learn that this was no ordinary bandit, but a cannibal.

We continue to loot and patrol Elektro, and find another bandit stalking an unarmed survivor. Again, we kill him, and even manage to save the survivor. We let the survivor loot the body, and upon further inspection find it was another man gone mad and turned to cannibalism. We wish her luck on her travels.

As we continue to loot we hear a voice asking us if we're friendly, the four of us surround this new survivor and find a heavily armed and geared survivor standing outside, who to our surprise, was a pacifist! In this world, who would have thought. He then proceeds to give us military weapons, ammunition, food and medical supplies and joins us for protection as we continue to loot the city. We finish up the day sitting around a fire, with matches supplied by our pacifist quartermaster.

A perfect end to a perfect first day in the DayZ standalone. I recommend the hell out of this game, but only if you're mature enough to handle constant and inevitable loss, as well as the typical Alpha hiccups. Come in with a positive attitude and a love for a challenge; the little personal challenges and stories such as playing as a pacifist, or a cannibal, or a law man. Come in and keep the right mind set and you'll not only have fun, but create it for others.
