Early Access Review
Really good game, didn't think I would like it as much as I did. The only criticism I have for it is that it needs cut scene skip buttons, especially for the first chapters last level. Other than that it is well balanced for a game of this type!

Wonderful game, terrible data rot

Would recommend if you are willing and able to mod and debug the game on newer hardware. Bethesda should be keeping this game up to date with modern systems as it is still a beloved game by the community. There is no excuse to not be able to maintain old games. (If you are making a remaster and this comment ages poorly that is a different story and you have actually put in the man power to keep this game up to date that way)

Had to mod the game to trick the engine into thinking that my gpu was a really old gtx 7700 even though it is an rtx 3080 ti just to make the game run. Don't make me have to mod a game just to be able to launch the thing. I already have to debug crashing issues in my own development environments, don't make me have to fix your stuff Bethesda, I don't work for you nor does your player base.

If you wish to play the game make sure that compatibility mode is set properly to use admin privileges.

Also, on a better note the game is fun to play when it works, just be willing to put in the technical work to get it to start on newer hardware as it has trouble on windows 10/11 and newer gpus. If not play fallout 4/76 as those games do work on newer hardware.

I would recommend BUT with some big exceptions!

Get if:
-Your systems gpu finds running the game on ultra a breeze and has a good amount of vram in your gpu (Most modern gpus do for fallout 4 specifically) (Also, I do not mean ultra on weapon debris as that physics system fails on modern gpus)
-Your a compleationist or care about your achievements being on and don't want a mod to remove the ability to gain achievements. As this DLC MOD is official and shouldn't get in the way of them.
-You have a spare 60gb's of disk storage you can sacrifice. (I believe this is because they packaged all the textures how they were during development before compression and this is a way to un-compress the original textures officially, thus why it is 60gb's as most data comes from textures.)

Don't get if:
-You really don't care about achievements.
-Your computers storage will be an issue and it is at a premium.
-You are running a budget low spec pc that struggles running this game at medium or high as it is.
-If you are a high level moder of Bathesda games and can do a whole lot better than the general public then by all means this dlc is very optional.

Final notes:
This DLC is extremely optional! I like it because I don't have to go through the whole modding process and it is simple to install.
If you are running a modern pc with an rtx card (Or AMD equivalent) and a few terabytes of storage then there is no harm downloading this. It is by no means better than some mods you can get that are already out there that could do better textures at a fraction of the data download requirement.

TLDR: You a modder? If no, then would recommend. If yes, then wouldn't recommend.

A very good co-operative game that is well designed and very bug free on 99.5% of playthroughs. If you are a fan of games like left 4 dead 1 and/or 2, or other types of co-op team games this is a game for you as it is well balanced, the unlocks are fun and you can make your dwarf look like pretty much anything with the unlocks. 10/10 game from someone who is a game designer and developer. Best money you can spend on a game.

Also seasons are free and you can unlock missed season unlocks through natural gameplay progression. So there is no FOMO. Even holidays you can unlock older holiday items.

New Players Beware

Summary of this game is misleading
This game is no longer given major updates, it is only given constant item additions and community map additions. Major updates have not been a thing since Jungle Inferno which was the last major balance patch to weapons and content.

Casual Mode Does Not Function due to Bots
It is well known that the casual servers that are hosted by Valve themselves are un-moderated and bots infest the entire game. Valve has been "unable or unwilling" to fix the constant cheating issue of both players and bots that make the game unplayable. Only solution to this as a player is to join community servers. Valve absolutely has the power and the financial ability to upkeep their older games (they did a major content patch to Half Life 1 as an example).

The in Game Store is Overpriced
Do not use the in game store as the items there are currently way to expensive to their community market value. Only reason to use the store is to buy the cheapest thing you can to get a premium account.

Note to Valve
(My own personal opinions and suggestions)
I understand why you don't say anything to your community, I get it, it's big and opinions can vary wildly and hurt a lot. In situations like this I have found in my experience saying nothing is just as bad as saying too much. You (as a company) need to find that balance of only saying enough that you can for sure know you can deliver on. I understand how your company doesn't have a top down structure and that is great for quality of games your devs are excited and passionate about making. At the end of the day though any company worth its salt needs janitors or the place is going to be a total mess filled up with things no one wants to take care of.

You are at a point that you have so much on your plate that all your old stuff is starting to rust and break down. No one is saying you can't sub-contract or even create a new business entity that it's sole purpose is to be keeping data rot at bay and keeping your main systems secure from bad actors. If you truly want your development studio to be the same as it currently is then it is time to make a valve sidegrade that is able to keep up with the demands of your old systems so your current main developers can keep doing what they love doing. Don't let your beloved games die.

Your main valve is about to blow, let off some steam with an auxiliary system to avoid the entire pipeworks from failing. You're better than this.
