This game has become the gold standard for every other character action game I tried afterwards, with large movesets, accessible abilities, and complex gameplay. Even if you don't *love* it, you will at least appreciate the game's depth.

What I like most:
This game knows its identity, delivering nothing more and nothing less: unlike some character action games that randomly throw in unrelated minigames like quick-time events or space invader shooters (cough cough Nier: Automata), DMC5 never deviates from its core combat system. The level design is just a series of "arenas" connected by "hallways", which is exactly the point. Every aspect of level design is meant to facilitate combat. Anyone expecting deep exploration is playing the wrong game. In an era where AAA developers are trying to make a single open world/deep combat/meaningful story/RPG progression game, it's refreshing to see a game that focuses on one thing and does it well.

Early Access Review
My thumb feels like it's going to fall off.
The screen is obscured by glowing projectiles and explosion effects,
I don't even know where I am or where the enemies are.
The music's swelling all of a sudden - Is that a boss?
Somehow I'm winning.

10/10 would get epilepsy again.
