They keep nerfing my favorite builds

Online mode was not playable for the majority of 4 days since release. By unplayable I mean perpetual loading screens and timeout errors, not lag. They will inevitably fix it, but I'm going to keep this review negative as the only real recourse I have for the amount of time the company wasted for me and thousands other players.

Edit: I did not receive this game for free, I bought it directly from their website in beta.

This game is kind of like a card game, similar to HS and MTG, but the cards are all 3D fighters on a chessboard. Core gameplay is pretty fun and addicting.

Cards and Card skins. You get some free cards to start out, but have to collect many more before you have a 'competitive' deck. As of writing this review, my collection consists of roughly 3 competitive decks as a completely f2p player. I used only a single deck to reach top 20 on the leaderboard. You get cards just by playing the ladder.

This is somewhat similar to HS in difficulty, and far easier than MTG.

At times questionable, but not completely broken as other reviews indicate. Yes, some cards are stronger than others, but they do get adjusted by patches. Similar to every other card game. Top players can consistently reach high ranks with any class with extremely high win rates.

This game prioritizes as little RNG as possible, which I personally enjoy. I never enjoyed all the randomness of HS.

Near instant. I never had to wait over a minute to get into a game. But, this comes at a cost of wonky pairings. If you did not find an opponent near your skill level within 5 seconds, the game might just pair you vs rank 1 player or against a bronze player.

This game is a reboot of Duelyst 1, but with new developers. Some core concepts were drastically changed, and not everyone from the original game agrees with those changes. Many of the negative reviews are those players. I cannot comment on the original game, but I do enjoy the current version as a new player.

7/10 - Fun and unique if you're a competitive person who enjoys these types of games. Not fun if you just want to mess around with all the possibilities and play a new deck every game completely f2p. Will take a few hundred hours before you collect all cards f2p.

Forced to spend half an hour making an origin account followed by traumatizing game play slaughtering innocent animals.

Edit: completely unnecessary teeth pulling animal abuse scenes. Do not recommend for children.

Sweet game. Basically good old legion you already know but cleaned up and with real ladders. Devs said 4v4 will come back when we get a bit higher player numbers. At the current growing pace, shouldn't take too long.
