I only recommend this game because of the story and some of the music. That's it. I didn't enjoy much besides that. Constant performance issues - the game either kept dropping fps or crashing. I've encountered a boss fight that bugged everything else in the game. It was the shaman in the castle fight that keeps teleporting you between realms or worlds, simply different locations. I've beat him, or so i assumed i did, because i pushed him off into the pit on one of the locations which ended the fight. I thought thats it but it appeared to bug the game to be both in the fighting state and the non-fighting state. I couldnt interact with anything because of that. I had to rerun the game and the fight to encounter another bug. This time i've killed the boss normally but after being teleported back i've made the mistake of moving before movielike blackbars showed up and that got the game stuck, again. So i had to rerun the game once again and finally it let me move forward with the story. At this point i was so fed up with the game i just went with the rest of the main story and ended the game as quickly as possible.

Another thing is that good/bad system which i just didn't like. You could be the goody-mcgoody the whole game until you smash a cobweb with a stick insect on it and all your work goes through the window. I've had that happen when i was on the last level in winter. I didn't matter that much because i just lost the revive after death which doesnt work by the way. Even if you have it you still wake up at the checkpoint if you die.

If you plan on playing this game i'd say just do the main story and nothing else. Side quests arent as rewarding. Exploring isnt very rewarding and you would just lose time doing that. Enjoy the main quest and the cinematics and be on your merry way to probably another game.

I didn't like many things about the game. I'd give it recommended if you were to do the main quest line only and nothing else. I've realised that the game isn't worth that much of my time. The thought came to me as i was doing second to last side case in the game. Some things that i looked past until a certain quest:
- got stuck many times while fighting in the open in infested areas, not even that - it still happened a few times while i was on few of the many tedious walks,
- TEDIOUS WALKING - mentioned second time to make the point clear, it was not fun. If the scenery was more diverse. I kid you not after a few hours every building looked the same,
- Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V buildings, outside AND inside. I firmly believe i wouldn't care for that if I played the campaign only but that wasn't the case. I've done all sidequests except one and came to the conclusion that devs literally made 7 or 8 types of buildings and said it's good enough,
- swimming in the boat - got stuck on some reef and lost good 10 minutes trying to shimmy my way out and continue with the story,
- constant screen shaking as if i had severe motion sickness or been few hundred shots deep of some vodka or moonshine

Things above are the ones i looked past while playing.

SPOILER below

This one, albeit small, made me lose my marbles - While doing main quests, Self-defense to be exact, i encountered a mistake in writing or so i thought. I came to the theatre to encounter dead Johannes van der Berg, proceeded to gather evidence of the crime. Reed's comment on the lying bullet casings next to the body said: "0.38 revolver shell casings - SAME AS MINE". It in fact wasn't same as his. Weapons we get in the game are: the pistol - using the 0.38 bullets and the revolver using 0.44-0.40 bullets along with other weapons not relevant here. I thought, oh, it's some irrelevant mistake by the devs, but then i learned the whole quest is all about framing Reed for the crime he didn't do and that was one of the evidence used against him.

In a game, where you impersonate a detective, you investigate crimes that take place in the city. The game makes you pay attention to details and you encounter something like this. That just felt like half-assing the job you were ment to do. From that point on i just played to finish the game. Didn't really care what was happening in the story.

Also, from what i gather, the game was made in times when there were many psycho-woke people getting mad at any inconvenience or deviation from their "norm". That's why devs put some racism and xenophobia warnings when turning the game on and thats why during one of the first quests where Reed talks to Throgmorton he tells him that not every Innsmouther is the same. I think it was in the first quest where you can find a note that says Innsmouthers are hated in Oakmont, noone wants to deal with them etc. Except every Innsmouther is the same. The story and lore shows how innsmouthers are either associated with EOD or with Blackwoods and Marshes. Both are cults, both were commiting atrocious crimes like kidnapping and raping women of Oakmont to make more Innsmouthers, the shooting in the fish market was blackwoods and marshes doing. They took it by force from the citizens of Oakmont.
At first, seeing the note, i thought to myself, damn they need all the help they can get until i realised they ARE the bad guys, they sit right beside the other scum of that city.

Now, there is some really hard stuff in this game besides the murders. The rapings, hangings, people killing themselves in the streets, people killing others in the streets, suicides by hangings, acts of cannibalism and the one thing Frogware decides to warn about is racism? I think i won't understand it even if i tried. Not recommended.

I was sort of torn between recommending and not recommending playing this game because during my playthrough i felt both extreme love for the game and the hate as well. Decided to recommend solely because of the ending. Don't know why but the very simple narrated summary of the things i've done and didn't do, what i've achieved and what happened to more important characters after the finale swayed me. I guess i'm a sucker for such little things. Felt like a cherry on top.
The game is different. At least it's different for me. Though i must admit, reading what people in "should you play this" videos and articles have said and written i was expecting the gameplay to be innovative like they said. The only thing i've noticed this rpg did differently is add a pause button you can press pretty much anytime except when in dialogue. It came in handy in the early fights because of the clutch heals and teammate resurrections but i've stopped using it since midplaythrough till the end.
The things i liked about the game are the audio, graphics, combat though i chose to play as a mage and realised it sort felt like picking an easy mode even though most powerful ring has maybe half of the power when compared to a gun or a 2h blade or hammer. The dialogues were alright, i liked how they invented a new language for the natives even if it didnt have that many words. Its still appreciated in my books.
All in all im happy i have played this game but some parts were exhausting - for example the walking everywhere. The game does have fast travel but some quests required to go to the far end of the map and back like 2 times in a row. I swear it felt like 1/3 of my playtime was walking.
The game was clunky sometimes. I couldnt fix the game to have stable 60fps no matter what, lowest or highest graphics options didnt mean a thing, the game just had some maps made in 45 fps and some in 60.
And the last thing is that the mage class doesnt have a weapon for mental power 5 unless you get incredibly lucky and drop a ring that has 100 quality. When i learned about this i was mildly infuriated because i had like 7 or 8 OP swords and hammers from various quests and chests laying around in my camp chest that had strength or dexterity 5 on them so it felt like a miss when choosing a class.
If i were to rate this game out of 10, i'd give it 6.5 or 7/10. It was good to play this, i had fun in spite of the downsides.

In short - the game is great, try it, play it, maybe even finish it. Even if only a tiny part of you likes packed with action games or fps type of games with a somewhat good story, you won't regret it.

Main game - 9/10
AG1 - 5,5/10
AG2 - 8,5/10

The longer answer would be (WATCH OUT FOR SPOILERS):

After playing the main campaign and both DLCs, I think i can say that you won't miss a lot by not buying the DLCs. Base game has it all in terms of:
- Music
- Story
- Action
- Mechanics
In my opinion you'd have to really and I mean REALLY like the game to buy and play the DLCs too.
Base game is super well made. Story is interesting and you can really get invested, especially when you are literally tearing through armies of demons. Music is just on point, no bad track is present. Crisp sounds - demons really sound like demons, gun sounds, explosions, the environment - it's all great. Main campaign, the meat of this pack so to say, has it all. Action is there and it doesn't overwhelm you once you get with the flow, it doesn't feel like it's a chore or is too long or too short. Same with the mechanics and by that i mean using 1 gun to kill certain demon - that is also made in a way that doesnt make you feel lost in it all.
I can't stress how good the base game is and i obviously recommend trying it.

That said, the DLCs are a different story entirely. When i was going through them it felt like the company made a 180 turn and decided that they don't like money but already said they are going to make 2 DLCs so here we are. Something went completely wrong when they were making that content. Maybe they let interns do the Part 1 of the DLC to see how would they manage. Whatever the reason, think twice when buying dlcs. Don't be like me and get hyped on the trailers they've made for them. I expected continuation of the story would be made on the same lvl as the main game and i couldnt be more wrong.
This mainly targets the Ancient Gods Part 1, because somehow Part 2 didn't feel as bad even a bit:
- the levels were too fing long, i felt like they were making them long on purpose, just to hit the 3-4 hour mark. I would prefer if they would make more lvls but shorter as it was in base game. I think it would be more enjoyable that way. How it is now just felt like a chore. Never have i ever felt the need to finally finish a lvl in this game and in this dlc it was present in all 3 maps.
- the story was crap in this one. Maybe thats just me but i could feel the drop in quality when comparing this to the Main. Dialogue felt weird. Like it was stripped of any emotion.
- bugs. In the main game i did not encounter any moderately annoying bugs if any at all. And here i got stuck by walking, not even in some weird spot, i got stuck on a small rock when entering a fight room. Edges on platforms are weirdly raised or something, it felt like they werent flush with the rest of the platform so when i tried jumping from one to another it behaved like hitting an object or a wall and it kept sending me straight up instead of forward. When that happened during an intense fight, my god i was cursing left and right. Also got stuck in a wall once, but dashing luckily helped big time.

Luckily Part 2 brought the quality back to almost how it was. There were a few minor setbacks but still it felt A LOT better than Part 1. Not one bad word to say about it. It was great.

All in all, would i recommend:
DOOM Eternal - Yes, absolutely, go and atleast try it out.
Ancient Gods Part 1 - Wish it didn't happen. I think even Bob Ross would say that's not a happy accident.
Ancient Gods Part 2 - Yes, absolutely. It's good.

The game was great, it took me 38h to get full 100% with all side quests done. This is the third instalment of the series. In my humble opinion, even though i really like these 'new' Tomb Raider games with their own stories i think this one wasn't the best of them. It still was great to play and i had lots of fun, but i think i liked the story and the overall feel of the other 2 games more. Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider are on par and this one is falling a tiny bit behind. The greatness is still there, but if i were to rank them i'd the say first two get 8.5/10 and this one gets like 8-ish/10.

Going in you have to know that there are bugs in this game. Not that many, don't be afraid, but it has to be said. In my playthrough i fell through the ground twice, encountered visual bugs that could best be described as 50 flashbangs going off one after another in the span of maybe 5 seconds. The sound is rarely coming later than the action you just performed (happened mostly when opening crypts, but also when going into water and stuff like that). When interacting with environment (digging for gold or destroying walls with the pick) the camera just goes everywhere so you won't be seeing what you are doing for that time. I was surprised i encountered this many of them 5 years after the games release, but such are the times nowadays i guess.

Also, if you are trying the stealth approach for extra experience, you are better off forgetting about it :D I don't know why, but even though you have many options to choose from and many ways to go about it, it felt like the game turned the difficulty to the highest level every time i tried it. One mistake and enemies gain xray vision and hunt you down in seconds. An alerted guard once shot me down off a ledge even though he saw my fingertips at most. I think devs tried telling bits of the story through stealth missions and thats why they made some guards move only when you are next to them - like right up their bum. I don't know, i found it weird, maybe you, a new player, will like it.

As far as i liked the main story, the side quests did some heavy lifting too. Haven't played a game that had side quests made so well. I'm serious. Side quests in this game are a cheffs kiss. I really liked how each quest was like a new story line to experience. They either expanded the main story or showed something entirely new. My protip for a new player is to do them as early as one can. They reward some good stuff once you do them.

All in all i'd stay the game is great and if you have the means and the time, try it. You will most probably enjoy it as much as i did.

First things first, the campaign took me about 30 hours to go through, thats long, i know but i liked it so it didn't bother me much. The game is in a sorry state, but it is getting better! The weekly patch notes are there to confirm that. My gameplay wasn't close to what i have seen on the youtube in the slightest. After playing myself i would say that they were playing a different game. The train of thought of people toward this game is like "Boo-hoo don't play this game, you won't have fun, it's too broken to be worth trying" and because of that i felt sceptical going in. Now that i've played around a bit id say they are wrong, id even advise people to try it out. The campaign is ok most of the time, but once you get to the end fight then it's SO GOOOD! After that fight you feel like the campaign was amazing, atleast thats what happened in my case. And i accomplished that with the first build i made by myself. For comparison i have close to 1.5k hours in Path of Exile and i wasn't able to kill any pinnacle boss, no shaper, no elder, not any of the rest atleast once with builds i made myself.
Yes Wolcen is clunky and buggy, there is no doubt about it. For example there is no way to move around without auto-attacking some random mobs accidentally. Another example is that some destructible elements of environment have this weird enlarged hitbox that sometimes blocks your way, like they create an invisible impassable wall unless you destroy the barrel or crystal thats responsible for that. The game, rarely but still, turns off randomly by itself and it has problems with transitioning from one cutscene to another or from a cutscene to the game.
But it also offers good campaign with awesome and i really mean AWESOME boss fights. SPOILERS: Fights i liked the most were Ahrim, Lambach, Oshara, Heimlock so basically most of them :D. The fight with Mercy was also both funny and cool. And the game has Endgame, can you believe it? Some AAA games don't have it these days and this game does. Once you complete the story and change the mode to Champion of Stormfall there is still new stuff to do. I've only seen the tip of the iceberg now but soon i'll be uncovering what more it has to offer. I've seen there is some sort of crafting table i will be able to unlock so i'm interested in that.
Also, don't like your build? No problem, you don't have to create another character from scratch, you can respec the one you have now any time and it ACTUALLY CAN be anything as there is no class division. You can change all the way from a melee to ranged and vice versa if you want or need to.
I have to say that i'm glad i've tried it and didn't get demotivated by bad reviews of others because it's great, it's different and most importantly i'm having fun. I hope devs won't abandon it and would like to mention that if it comes to a point that they will release a dlc, i'm buying it.
Worth mentioning, in my playthrough i went for a simple solution by making a mage and building around the first spell in the game which is a fireball. I was and am playing offline.
All in all, if you like ARPGs, would like to try something new, don't get easily tilted by the problems a game can have i'd say go for it. Preferably when it's on sale but 40 Euros is still okayish price for it.

EDIT: Just experienced another major bug regarding the big endgame boss fight ahriman. He got stuck in between mechanics - he flew to the sky but never came down so i couldn't kill him and i lost the fight because of that. Didn't know this could happen when i wrote my review. The game is good, but i suggest you wait until thats fixed, because that boss fight yields a lot of great rewards and requires a lot of work to get to him, so when a bug like this happens you'll most likely rage quit.

POST UPDATE REVIEW:

I thought the update would be bigger and would fix some things but all it brought was 2 weapons for people to abuse (which was expected) and 2 new maps - 1 for team deathmatch and 1 for capturing points. New maps are amazing. Its really nice to see something new on tdm instead of same maps but smaller and DMZ to me is so much better than the rest of the maps. I really like it.
Once you get the hang of it, this game is fun. I've started customizing guns and creating my own sets and seeing my idea work is an amazing feeling.
But the game still has these problems even after the update:
- a lvl 6 player with 70 kills alone still raises some questions whether hes a new shroud of WW3 or hes doping with some 3rd party programs.
- server performance is a joke. There was no match in my playthrough where everyone had good connection. I've seen at least 1 tank or helicopter teleporting in each of my games. It's getting really annoying when you miss an rpg shot for x amount of times because a guy is phasing in a vehicle.
- people straight up leave matches if there is a difference in the amount of players during a game. Numerous times when i notice i'm losing, i look at the scoreboard and my team is 5 or 6 players short, so its 14 or 15 against 20.
- people on the same team still kill each other for petty reasons. At least now they turned off roadkilling - good choice if you ask me.
- the amount of maps is still not enough. Right now theres around 7 or 8, which at least to me is not enough.
- after the game ends it puts you in search for another right away, when you stop the searching it sometimes gets bugged and instead of leaving it puts you in another search but with default options. Because of this i've been thrown into matches on maps i didn't want to play on.
- spawning on people in your squad is bugged and it's better to spam space to deploy instead of pressing once and waiting. The red screen when trying to spawn on squad member saying 'character is jammed' for example takes about 10 seconds or so, but when you smash space you can spawn after around 5 seconds.
- the tablet you pull out when you want to use radar or an artillery is bugged. On numerous occasions it said i can't use this strike because there is one already in action but when i pressed space it worked with no problem. There is no consistency to how it works.

All in all, if you are interest, go ahead and give this game a try who knows, it might give you something other shooters don't. If you are already playing and you really like it, keep playing. I don't recommend it because of the reasons mentioned above and below.
=====================================================================================
So i've been playing this game for a little over a week. Got something around 20 hours at the time of writing this. In the beginning, my first impression was how cool this game looked. There is soo much you can customize in this game - your soldier, weapons you choose, there is even an option for you to choose how much armour you want on yourself. I loved the idea that you carry a backpack with yourself during matches and in said backpack you can carry modifications for your weapons like scopes, grips, muzzles or if you gain high enough lvl instead of grips you can attach a grenade launcher to your weapon or a mini shotgun. Also you can switch up your equipment under G, which is for grenades, C4, claymores.

If i were to describe this game id say its a mix between call of duty (the lobby looks to me like that one from an old MW2, also you get to call in uavs, airstrikes and drones if you get enough points during the match), battlefield (numerous vehicles you can drive, also for points during match) and some other shooter which i forgot the name of.

The game is good, i liked the time i spent playing it. But now is the time to mention the things i think will eventually make me stop playing this game.

In the beginning, lets say day 1 and 2, the game ran smoothly on high. The third day in the middle of a match i get insane stutters till the end of the game. I specifically remember the map was Smolensk. I couldnt move anywhere without waiting few seconds for the response. It was awful. I had to change graphics settings to medium and lower the resolution from 1980xsomething to 1680xsomething, basically 1 resolution option down from the highest. Also had to change from borderless window to fullscreen. Only then i managed to finish the match with ok performance. Since then the menu screen where you customize your loadouts and choose maps has been laggy and the game had little stutters that came and went whenever they liked. I couldn't pinpoint a specific thing that triggered them.

But enough of that. Lets talk about matchmaking. Halfway through my total game time i noticed that games my team is losing are the games the enemy has a whole squad or two of guys lvl 51 absolutely obliterating the lobby. They are plowing through us like its harvesting season. And my team has maybe 1 or 2 high lvl guys - 3 if we are lucky, the rest consists of newbies with lvl below 15 that keep trying to capture 1 point instead of spreading throughout the map. This is what i encountered and frankly demotivated me from playing. Mind you that on top of the skills those lv51 players have, the higher the lvl the better mods you can equip on your weapon. You can make a weapon that virtually won't miss a shot. There really should be some better balancing.

Amongst other things i didn't like are:
- the fact that you have to memorize which grenades are thrown automatically and which ones you have to press LMB to throw them, its really annoying when you forget to press a button to throw a nade during intense moments so you stand there waiting and someone else kills you
- afkers - in every game there is 1 or 2 and there is no system to kick idle players from the game.
- friendly fire - i've seen this at least 3 times when a guy shoots another and kills him by accident so the other one kills him for the rest of the game. Or when a guy steals another guys tank so the guy owning the tank keeps killing the stealer.
- cheaters - only occured once, but its a bad omen, when this happens in early access. I think he joined the match halfway. He was going around the corners and one-tapping every single enemy in his sights. He got like 90+ kills, all headshots. From what i saw a normal lvl51 guy at the end of the match has somewhere around 40 kills, maybe 50 tops. So you can see the difference.
- lack of report button - obviously when you see a guy like the one described above you want to report him, but there is no button to click to do so.

After what i've experienced i'd say, if you think about playing this game, wait for an update thats coming soon. Maybe it will change some things for the better. I'll be sure to check out if it indeed did but for now i'm good without playing this game.

At first when i booted up this game i thought to myself, wow, i'm a viking, let's shout and demolish those stupid knights. But my joy ended fast when i realised that enemies don't take different champions each game. I only saw some samurai playing on enemy side while on my side there is 1 samurai, 1 knight and 1 viking. Half the games i played i was the 1 viking, because players kept joining and leaving my matches, so it was 3v4 a lot of times. My usual match looked pretty much the same each time - you get in, enjoy the view coz the battlefields look beautiful, run towards the point and realize you are alone vs 2 enemies on the point because a guy on your team went afk and the rest went on other points. After a few times this happened i just started running away in this kind of situation because i knew there was no help coming. I kept giving them points and ran to capture others and to my surprise ended up in the same situation i just ran away from. At this point in the game of course the only players left are those hardcores who studied this game better than paladins studied Holy Bible. So for me when i realized that there are combos you have to memorize by heart i immediately realized there is no point. I got gangbanged more times in this game than girls on po*nhub ever would. I bought this game on -80% discount and i still feel robbed of my money but what could i expect from ubisoft. Call me weak but i don't want to keep losing in this game.

PS: Your team is also your enemy. I've died just as many or maybe even more times from a viking on my team swinging his axe as when enemies killed me 2v1 or 3v1. As it has been said many times - this game doesn't have a definition of honor in its dictionary. Honor is so far lost in this game just as humanity is just as far from reaching greatness. I've tried many times but i can't understand why would someone in their right mind play this game.

PS2: Also, this game doesn't close itsefl after exiting. You have to manually go to steam and turn it off. This game could literally be described as playing league of legends. If you want to save any pieces left of your sanity, don't buy this game.

That's a nice little game, few bugs here and there but nothing game-breaking. Story is ok, nothing spectacular about that but it was fine, gameplay was a little better in my opinion. Worth checking out if got it for free or grabbing it while on discount. Full price for this ain't worth it if i do say so myself.
