I don't like it, something is off. What is the point of these other weapons when the only weapons people use are AK, M4 and AWP? I just don't get it anymore. Plus the game is like 25 years old?? Nothing has changed; whoa cool you can shoot through the smoke? Okay? Actual garbo. They just did this to streamline monetization, pretty obvious to anyone with a brain.

Early Access Review
My only gripe with this game currently is the monorail track. This game wants you to build into super high elevation and build land bridges and sky bridges and climb mountains to get to resources, but doesn't let you lay rail at elevation. Belts have supports, but the monorail doesn't? Wtf??? The time it takes to actually lay rail, you're WAYYY better off just making a belt go across the world. Monorail is almost completely pointless unless you have 1 dedicated person who does nothing but monitor and build the trains.
The signals are abysmal also, having to lay them at every junction. It's all insanely too time consuming for what you get, especially considering what tech comes after the monorail, doubly considering you can just lay conveyor belts... Flying drone transport. So the next tier just invalidates all the time you invested. This design is so troubling that I had to leave this review. I just can't wrap my head around the monorail existing, it just doesn't belong in this game how it's currently implemented, maybe if the rail hovered off the ground??
If you came from Factorio, you will absolutely despise the train in this, like don't even bother!

Great game but needs improvements.

Breaching: is counter-intuitive if that's the term I'm looking for? You get an option to Destroy a door, your team just shoots it open lol. Sometimes you get a Breach command option, but then one guy runs up, kicks the door open and does kind of a weird entry thing, I dunno, it's not a pie slice that's for sure. I guess it's not too big of a deal since the hip firing in this is pretty strong and the AI is very dumb.

Teammates use frags at will but it doesn't look like they have AI programmed for the other grenades? I dunno, can't tell as there are no grenade toss commands, which is bizarre for a game like this.

When you form Wedge, they pack tight, but when you form File the spacing is way different, the guy in the back is in no man's land basically.

If you don't use the Open Fire command your team will suicide basically, which is understandable given how they setup quiet combat, they will shoot in tandem with you if set to Hold Fire unless you have a silenced weapon and they don't.

The Get to Cover command is suicidal. They basically just run wherever and face any direction, forcing you to manually place each team member into cover one by one, it needs some type of directional sense based on the direction your man is facing, otherwise they take cover with their back to the enemy or they break formation to take cover 20 feet away, you learn not to use this very early on in the game, which is bad in a game where you can't go prone.

I played A LOT of Fallout Tactics, XCOM, Full Spectrum Warrior and all the Swat and Rainbow Six games. The breaching in this leaves a ton to be desired if you're looking at the breaching from those other classics, but this is still a good purchase.
Hopefully it'll get some polish.

Is this the best management sim ever created?? I dunno, I feel like it belongs in the same tier as like Sim City, but instead of laying zones, you build your prison from scratch.

Also this game tries to answer the question of "what if you played the game as an NPC in 1st person?"

Been playing this gem for years, maybe even a decade?
P.S. Oldschool Intake is the only way to play this, even more fun if you disable pausing the game!

Edit: I don't have any of the DLC and don't plan on buying it, probably why my game doesn't feel buggy. Some of the walls and objects they added seem like bloat, but some of it is useful (Visitor Only doors, Visitor Only gate for fences, barbed wire, sprinkler, etc)
If you don't use the Logistics tab and Deployment tab properly, your prison is gonna look like a zoo anyway.

It's an MMO disguised as Fallout 4. Plays identical to Fallout 4, except some of the enemies are stronger. By MMO I mean it ticks all the MMO boxes: endless grind, endless grind, uhh, radiant quests, did I mention more endless grinds?

I play it identical to an MMO also: log in, go get cranberry for the XP, ignore everyone around me because people are designed to be completely optional, do random chores, log out 40 minutes later not having really accomplished anything.
Is this really the game they had in mind?? This has been done 999 times before, what even was the point, even if you had a non buggy product? It still would've been this cookie-cutter, endless MMO grind thing.

The perk cards aren't even that interesting and the weapons are very obviously dampened because everything is so glitch sensitive.
The game also doesn't feel visceral like the older ones. The gore needs to be turned up and there needs to be more ways to deal damage. Once you specialize, you can't deal damage with anything else, it feels really pointlessly restrictive like a lot of MMOs.

TL;DR: shamelessly rips off every MMO while simultaneously trying to not seem like your typical MMO, but fails.

They need to figure out a way to program some AI where you can set the difficulty to Superstar and HoF, but not have to play against players with stealth buffs.

What I mean by "stealth buffs" is that when you put the difficulty on high and play really good defense, the game decides it's going to put a buff on the next CPU player that takes a shot, granting 90% chance to go in, draw a foul, whatever. When this happens it creates a breaking of immersion that is impossible to ignore: you have guys like David Lee playing like they're Dirk Nowitzki in his prime.

This game still suffers from that problem years and years later where you will see big men do the craziest crap and hit impossible shots and basically turn into Dirk Nowitzki.
Draymond Green on Superstar is basically Kevin Durant.

I would recommend this game to people who love exploration, I don't think I would recommend it to die-hard Fallout fans.

I give it a B.
In the presentation department, it's everything I could ask for; Creepy creatures, scary things popping out of no where, spooky mists and fog and radiation, smart mouth, cocky companions to travel with you, awesome art direction, great ambient environments (the swamps are terrifying, I haven't even played Far Harbor yet and i'm what, 200 hours down), sticky situations that pin you down and force you to use the terrain around you. This game is an explorer and treasure hunters wet dream. Tons of junk to find, tons of awesome comics to find, bobbleheads to earn.

I would've given it an A or B+ if the main characters didn't bore me completely into a stupor right out of the gate starting with the clown Vault Tec guy (that you later find as a ghoul and can recruit to come live in Sanctuary, wtf, why?!). Then later on with Preston, Mama Burnout, then every single character from Danse to Macready to Magnolia.
Nick, Piper and Curie are the only interesting personalities in this game and 2 of them are machines.
Also be prepared to be underwhelmed by the weapons in this game. No one in their right mind could score this an A+ with the current selection of weapons this game has to offer. It's honestly embarrassing for a Fallout title.

There's no need to mention all the other numerous pieces they chopped off of the RPG table, we pretty much knew coming in what this game was going to be. But the things I mentioned were essentially first impressions, which aren't good for this type of game, even if you know what you're in for.
If I have an action-RPG or open world FPS, whatever you want to call it, I want 2 things: tons of sweet weapons that I love to use and awesome NPCs and characters to travel with and meet along the journey. Fallout 4 is kinda subpar on both of those.
Fallout 4 doesn't carry the sheer aresenal of titles of past, weapons, stat choices, dialogue choices, outcomes, that is why I couldn't really recommend it to a die-hard, oldschool, started with Fallout 1, fan.

Such a beautifully simple and elegant game that doesn't have a problem taking 24 hours at a time away from you. You'll wonder where time went as you go back and try to refine your strategies and earn better scores.
The momentum is kept adrift with hassle-free modding capability and good support for it as well.

Can't wait for the next installment!

Great port! Downloaded and installed with no problems.

Takes a bit of tweaking, but I found if you turn off Reflection MSAA you can leave everything on high, turn down MSAA depending on your GPU strength and still run at 60+ FPS.
If you leave Reflection MSAA on you will most likely have a lot of stuttering.
