If you like games where putting in the time makes you get noticably better at the game, then this game may be for you. Read below.

Look, if you have played SSBM and enjoyed the technicality of it, then you will probably have an interest in this game. If you're not willing to put in the time to learn how characters work, and how they're countered, then this game will not be worth it for you, and you shouldn't buy it.

If you are ready for the struggle, and the struggle truly never ends, then at the very least, try the free weekend and enjoy the game.

It will *never* be perfect, and I think most people don't know that, but it will *always* be a great pastime. Just like real life sports, there are those games where you finish out losing and feeling empty, and there are those games where you dominate easily, but the fun ones are where you don't know who will win, and you are putting your all into it, and this game can provide such a feeling, if you're willing to put the time in.

Well I played one game of Team Deathmatch.

Apparently iron sights were not common in WWII.

Apparently on the Western Front, you heard more women yelling out enemy positions than men.

Let's just look at the default loadouts... You have an assault rifle, a submachine gun, an LMG, a sniper rifle, and a shotgun. That's not what WWII was. In WWII you had a rifle that was hopefully semi-automatic, but probably was bolt-action. You had automatic weapons, sure, but they were in limited supply. It wasn't like every soldier out there was strapped with a Thompson or a BAR.

Call of Duty 2 is a better WWII FPS than this by far. Don't even ♥♥♥♥ with this game if you played COD 1, 2, and 3. You will not get the feeling back that you had with those games in multiplayer, and even though the beta doesn't have any show of the single player, I have a feeling it's not going to give you that nostalgia either.

The game feels designed for running and gunning. They're giving everyone automatic weapons with red dot sights pretty much. I could have sworn I saw some alpha footage of this game that made it look like COD had pulled their heads out of their asses, but I guess not. Oh, and they stole the bayonet charge idea from BF1, even though bayonet charges were far far more rare in WWII than in WWI. The magical instant knife kill would have worked fine, and I don't think anyone would have complained (for those that don't know, the original WWII Call of Duty games had melee attacks with the gun you were holding and they were not instant kills). But no, you slapped bayonets on every damn gun even though it didn't make a lick of sense, because you're just trying to soak up the market.

I'm pretty confident that in two or three years, we'll be playing a WWII Battlefield game again that isn't a dumpster fire like this game is.

If you're like me, when you check out Steam reviews of games, you make sure to check out the negative ones just to make sure you get the whole story. I was curious what negative things people were saying about this game and it seems that they mostly are complaining about the new microtransaction system, often making it out to be forced or worse than it is.

All DLC that affects gameplay (maps, game modes) is included in FREE updates. There are cheap DLCs for different car models.

The microtransactions work like this: Random drops after games give you cosmetic enhancements or crates. The crates contain more cosmetic enhancements. To open a crate, you need a key. Keys can be purchased (I think 1 for $1.50 or 5, 10, or 20 for $1 each) or traded for with cosmetics or crates. Keep in mind nothing about this affects gameplay whatsoever. With the trading system, if you really want some cosmetic and don't want to spend any money, you can trade things for that cosmetic. If you really want to open a crate, you can trade things for keys. You are not required to buy anything.

I understand that microtransactions have a negative reputation, but this game is only $20, with regular and free map/game mode updates. I can't believe anyone is complaining about the fact that the devs implemented a completely optional system that can get them some more money is more than fair.

The devs are active on the Rocket League subreddit and multiple times I have seen complaint posts met with responses from devs saying they'll fix the problem, and the problems get fixed.

This game is extremely fun for casual and serious play. The community all in all is very good and fortunately isn't becoming more toxic with the growing user base. I highly recommend giving it a try, and if you don't want to spend $20 on it, wait for a free weekend or a sale.

Cheers

This is the best game I've ever played.

I couldn't help but read the negative reviews on this game, and they were all what I expected. I haven't played Mass Effect 3, but I heard about the ending and why it pissed people off. Maybe the story of the Mass Effect series wasn't quite as engaging as the story of Life Is Strange, because, to me, it's about the journey, and not the destination.

I cared deeply about the characters in the story. It's easy to see aspects of yourself in at least a handful of the characters.

BEGIN VERY VAGUE SPOILER:

But what made this game so incredible and painful for me was the ability to change timelines so significantly. I've thought about doing the same in real life many times, and what I would do differently. And who knows, maybe even if I could go back, saving one person would be sealing the fate of another.

END VERY VAGUE SPOILER

There are multiple references to Catcher in the Rye in this game (some obvious, like the main character's name, and some much less obvious). I know many people despised that book for Holden's whiny nature, and because of that, they missed some of the main themes; fortunately, those themes are presented here, with a main character that you'll like much more than Holden.

While I can see why some are upset at Episode 5, I don't see a big problem with it. I don't think you will be disappointed if you buy this game. It's so cathartic and therapeutic.
