Early Access Review
I'm gonna split this review into two: "My Quake Champions experience" and "The early access experience"

MY QUAKE CHAMPIONS EXPERIENCE:
I have never played any previous quake games or any arena shooters (like halo or unreal tournament) Although I've seen gameplay of those old games, Quake Champions is certainly a good revival for its rather dying genre. In my 100 hour experience, I have concluded that quake is known for satisfying rocket jumps, skillshots, and lots of possible "pro play" scenarios which is what got me hooked to this game. I'll end this paragraph by saying that getting kills in this game is more satisfying than any other FPS I've played. If you're doubting to play this game, just go ahead and try it for a few hours cuz everyone's experience may vary.

I have a lot more complaints about this game though. I live in the Philippines (SEA) and I select the Singapore and Korea servers since they're the closest to me and have the lowest ping. It legit could take me anywhere from 2 to 10 minutes to find a match which is absurd and shows that not many people in SEA play this game compared to streamers I watch who live in the US or EU and takes way less time to find a match. Often times I would close the game due to frustration of not being able to find a match. It is also impossible for me to find ranked duels or arcade matches becauase no one seems to play them.

This game is unoptimized. It's unfair to call it garbage because it works but it has already been more than a year since this game came out and it still performs kinda bad for someone who has a mid - high end spec PC from 2015. This game runs on Unreal Engine 4 and has demanding graphics but I'm sure the engine could still be worked on and be optimized significantly. Another reason why I could say that this game has bad performance is because it takes me 2-3 minute to boot up the game and another minute and a half to load into a game. I kid you not, this game has horrible loading times.

I wish strafe jumping is part of the tutorial but there are many mechanics in this game that are not included in the tutorial like other ways of damage boosting, rocket jumping, and combo kills. Small mechanics like these are important to be better in the game but I learned them all from youtube tutorials.

THE EARLY ACCESS EXPERIENCE:
1. The champions pack is either not worth it or is overpriced
I'm not sure if all the content in this game will be free once the game finishes early access stage but right now, I could say that the experience from a paid and a F2P user is quite different

First off, CUSTOM GAMES / PRIVATE MATCHES are not available if you don't own the champions pack which is quite absurd in my opinion because I would play a lot of bot matches if I could (Yes people like me still exist) but that's where I would practice my skills or learn about new champions / maps if I could.

Not having all of the champions unlocked is okay becausae it takes a while to get used to playing a new champion and it takes not that long to earn enough in game currency to be able to buy another champion (yes you can do that, just like league of legends).

2. Like I mentioned in my experience, this game could use a lot more development and optimization for lower end / older hardware because it's just too demanding right now. This is a huge factor for a game on early access stage because important things like these could contribute to people's perception about this game and how the community sees its developers. The devs of this game are like the PUBG devs; They don't release updates too frequently and they don't work on the game's optimization for some reason (at least that's how I feel).

In the state of this game right now, Do I recommend it? No I don't yet but I really look up to this game's potential. Perhaps the thing that could save this game is a bigger player base. That way devs could gather more statistics and feedback about what the game needs and also to shorten match making times.

TL;DR
- Game is fun but needs a lot of improvement
- Champions pack not worth it IMO
- Private match should be a F2P feature
- Player base is too small
- Loading time takes too long

It's not as "remastered" as i expect it to be. It feels exactly like the original game. I was hoping for more graphics options and better graphics in general, not to mention DAT mouse acceleration
