Good game, lots of things done right, some weird development moments (either not enough people or a needlessly rushed schedule, or both), either way their QA testing and bug fixing can't seem to keep up with the content they want/need to add, but overall it's a fun game with fantastic potential.

However, PSN account linking being mandatory and offering zero benefit makes this a negative vote overall, yet another account required for absolutely no reason as the game quite clearly loses zero functionality without it as proven by the period since launch where it wasn't required.

Edit: Soft recommendation now as the PSN scandal seems to have been reversed and the game has a very good chance to go back to its original popularity, very interesting to see the developments in the coming weeks.

If you were impressed with Frostpunk and its amazing first scenario, only to immediately be disappointed by the extremely shallow gameplay and lack of variety in both builds and missions, then this is the game for you. Buy it and take your revenge.

A bit rough around the edges, but if Hopoo listens to the community just like they did with Risk of Rain 2 during Early Access then this is going to become an absolute gem.
As of now I am quite hopeful and I can recommend it if you're a fan of the original, but it does have some balancing issues and the stages feel quite empty a lot of time which makes the game harder but not in the most fun way.
If nothing else, it's worth keeping an eye on it for later.

Simply Fun - You're the best agent in the world... and so is everyone else.

The game grabs you from the very first match with a great concept that is executed excellently and it's not showing any signs of letting go so far.
Varied yet simple mechanics that bring a lot of depth, not through complexity, but through the sheer variety of how you can use them.
Cool, well-defined characters that seem like they've been pulled right out of your favorite stereotypical spy / heist / secret agent B movie, with a fantastic soundtrack to match the entire aesthetic.
Unique weapons and abilities for each agent, crazy gadgets, and an ingenious upgrade system that inherently balances risk vs reward by making it so that the harder it is to obtain an upgrade, the higher its bonus becomes, all of it customizable to fit your preferred playstyle.

The only issue I have found so far is that there's no dedicated 2-man queue so you either need to get a third or risk sometimes playing as a duo against teams of three players. Hopefully this gets added if/when the playerbase can support it.

It will be interesting to see if the development team will be able to properly support this in time, not only with more content, but also with quick and effective responses to things like the meta becoming stale as that is probably the game's biggest risk going forward.

However, for right now, the game is absolutely worth trying, both solo and with a group of (preferably) three players.

Latest patch (Tower of Treachery) seems to have broken multiple things making the game incredibly frustrating, if not impossible to play sometimes.

- Enemies spawning on top of players or in the open, as in everything from single enemies to even entire horde waves just appear from thin air 2 meters in front of you instead of spawning hidden behind walls or buildings or corners.
- A lot of enemies seem to spawn behind you now (and again, not behind you and a bit further away hidden behind a fence or corner as they usually would, no, they spawn in the open right behind you and ready to attack) leading to you taking hits from behind even though you just checked to see if there's any enemies a mere second ago.
- Enemies don't attack players properly anymore, as in they will go past one player that is close to them and currently not fighting anything (so their slots should not be filled) in order to attack another player that is further away.
- One of the most extreme examples of this that I've had was some enemies that spawned close to the party but instead of attacking any of us, they pathed AHEAD to the center of the next room (they literally walked through me to get there) and after they reached the center of the next room, that's when our location seemed to "click" for them so they started pathing properly back towards us.

Specials behave weirdly as well:

- Globadiers will now almost always throw globes from behind cover (behind walls or buildings, usually outside of where players can walk) without requiring any line of sight to the players so they're impossible to prevent.
- Assassins will get stuck a lot more often doing that thing where they pick a 1-2 metre path and they just go back and forth really quickly before eventually teleporting away.
- Blightstormers seem to spawn way further from the players now and they also seem to spend more time far away after they have spawned and I've even seen them cast storms on random areas where there's no players. For example on a Garden of Morr run, we (the party) were getting close to the guaranteed ammo box that spawns on top of a coffin a bit after the first tome and there was a blightstormer spawned somewhere around the little maze where the first grimoire is (judging by the sound) and after a few moments he cast a storm in the large open space that is AFTER the ammo box, even though there was nobody there as none of us were even at the ammo box yet.

Bots are also similarly way dumber than before the patch (all of these bugs would happen before as well but you used to see it once every few games whereas now it seems to happen multiple times in a single map):

- They get stuck very frequently in multiple spots and refuse to move, it happens frequently in "checkpoint" style areas of the map where you can't backtrack but it's not exclusive to those areas, I've even seen them get stuck on incredibly small geometry elements such as rocks or pavement corners in otherwise completely open stretches of the map.
- They can't pick up some books properly anymore. There's always some books that are hard to reach for them so they usually just "try" for a few seconds and then pick them up from a distance, however, this patch (ironically) seems to have made those books even faster (they pick them up instantly) while also making the easy books impossible. Now when you tell a bot to pick up a simple book (one where you can easily walk next to and pick up), they just become rooted to the ground in the spot they were when you gave the order and they don't get unstuck until you cancel the order somehow (order another bot or pick it up yourself).
- Revives also seem incredibly difficult for them, previously they would sort of "judge" the situation and revive if it was deemed safe enough. Now, when someone dies close to a bot, the bot will immediately attempt a revive no matter the situation, however, not only that but they will also cancel the revive as soon as they start it. And as a bonus, it seems that if they managed to do this weird attempted revive, they will no longer revive that hero even if there's no more enemies present (I have seen it happen with both players or bots being downed).
- The bug where they pull out a ranged weapon and then get stuck like that and never switch back until they die seems to happen way more often than before as well (most frequently on Kerillian bot).

All of these bugs have occurred as both client and host, in both solo games as well as partially or completely full games so it's not an issue with the connection or syncing between players. I understand that every patch comes with some bugs (as is the case with every game), however, there seems to be something fundamentally broken that affects multiple things and with a big impact too. If I were to guess there's a problem with pathfinding in general or maybe the way AI (enemies and bots) determine the position of certain entities (such as players).

As it stands I would unfortunately recommend avoiding the game for now.
