Early Access Review
If you like games similar to Factorio, but are allergic against giant insects and prefer a more casual experience, you may have found Shapez as a minimalistic, but satisfying puzzle experience. Now, this game opens up a new dimension. Yes, Shapez 2 does not only look much more cool and futuristic, but also has 3D constuction possibilities. You can layer your conveyor belts and make more fascinating construction processes to create more and more comples shapes.

I recommend this game, as it is relaxing, but can be intellectually stimulating and inspiring to puzzle away without time pressure or depleting resources. I like it and can only recommend to anyone enjoying this gameplay. It is worth the full price and a steal during a sale.

I got this as a sale, because the theme interested me. In summary, it is a relaxing 3D driving and adventure game with a Cyberpunk like setting as a package transporter. The soundtrack is nice and the game creates an immersive atmosphere. It ran stable on my computer with no crashes. No fighting or big action to be found here, just to inform you in advance. I stil found it enjoyable and it is even a relaxing if not casual game most of the time.

Atmosphere and Game World

You play a driver in a hover vehicle traveling between skyscrapers. There is only one city with multiple districts, which optically look quite alike. From the atmosphere point of view I would rather compare it with Blade Runner than Cyberpunk 2077. The graphics are a pixelated voxel environment, but with nice lighting and volumetric smoke effects.

Story and writing

The writing is ok. I found a few inconsistencies and/or plot-holes, and sometimes I am unsure which consequences may or may not happen as result of decisions. The storyline touches also some philosophical topics, but to me it mostly merely scratches on the surface. While I appreciate some open space for the player to have some ideas by oneself, I feel this game is not reaching it's full potential in this department. This is actually like real life where some consequencs may or may not be apparent for the individual, but then again it is a game. Because the player makes quite some serious decisions, some consequences are clear and consistent while some parts remain rather vague. I may need to play though again with different decisions to see where the situation changes for a final verdict here. Also I only played the main game so far without the expansion, which may reveal more down the road.

Gameplay

Most of the time you control your hova, a levitating vehicle. You can adjust the height of your hova, but the world stays horizontal during your driving. Controlling the hova with only mouse and keyboard is ok once you get used to it a bit, although it may be easier to do this with a gamepad if you are used to this. If you are not so skilled with 3D control in a moving environment, you may find some timed deliveries frustrating. But I consider them fair enough, and some seem to be intended to be failed for story reasons.

What it is, and what not

While atmospheric and with a nice soundtrack, it is nothing compared to Cyberpunk 2077. It is also not a RPG, but rather a mix of driving with some dialogue, adventure, and exploration. I find it mostly relaxing to travel though Nivalis. Yet, if you prefer a deep RPG with character development and/or a lot of fighting (either action oriented or tactical), you want to give this game a pass. If you enjoy a mostly relaxing casual adventure in a cyberpunk themed city with some emotional situations and are ok with (or even like) the art style, then this may be for you.

Is it worth a buy?

I found it worth the price, especially at a sale. While you can spend some time just driving and exploring, the actual story is relatively short and can be played though in 12 hours or even less. About 20 € may be a bit steep for this, but well worth your money during a sale.

P.S.: On a side note, I personally like the voice acting of Rania and some other characters. These are not the AAA actors from big budget games, but they do mostly a good job. I understand not everybody may like Rania for various reasons, which may even make or break the game for you. Perhaps first get only Cloudpunk without the DLCs to see how much you like it.

Old classic. Compared to the newer Doom 2016 there seems to be much more dark areas where the player needs a flashlight. One key feature is, that in the unmodded version you cannot use flashlight and shoot at the same time. Graphically quite a bit dated by now, but still a classic game. I think the BFG edition is a bit better though, as it has a graphics update compared to the original one and comes with the expansion. Anyway, even this old baby runs well also in modern resolutions like FullHD.

I know some WW2 strategy games. I believe this is one of the best. With the new patch the complexity and realism got enhanced even more. The vanilla version is enjoyable, but also many DLCs offer additional value to the gameplay. Graphics is ok, Sound is pretty good, but most importantly the game mechanics, where the conflict unfolds hour by hour. Paradox turned the game more and more into a sandbox version, where there are many ways how the whole simulated history can unfold.

Get this, if you like WW2 grand strategy scenarios, have plenty of time, are not scared of a relatively steep learning curve, and like historical conflict simulations. Please beware the battles happen more or less automatically. You can only control which troops in which quality attack when and where. If you expect a TW like experience, stay away.

Many mods make this game even more interesting. Some address WW1, some modern times, others even a "Fallout" like scenario.

Early Access Review
I like this game a lot. It is early-access, but runs very stable. In my experience I didn't notice issues or bugs while playing. Since I play also Factorio and Satisfactory, I cannot help but to make comparisons. At the same time this game can stand well by itself. It has a polish and great gameplay cycle, which puts some higher priced titles by bigger companies to shame.

Graphics are 3D from third person perspective. You can zoom in and out quite far. On the one hand I found the scaling a little bit off, since the planets and distances are relatively small compared to reality, but then again it suits the gameplay, as I feel much bigger planets and distances would be also increasing the travel times a lot. I like watching the sunrise on the little startig planet and the simulation of planetary movements as part of the simulation is mind-boggling.

Sound is good, nothing spectacular. A nice calm and relaxed synth music is played. The English spoken comment is with no accent and with a pleasant voice.

The tech-tree is a little bit more straight forward than e.g. Factorio. You play as a mech unit, which can produce many things by itself. One key difference is, that your mech unit consumes energy, so you need to keep it in good supply. An interesting aspect here is, that you can not only research new products and buildings, but also improvements to your mech and abilities.

In DSP the conveyor belts have only one space width, but they can be raised or lowered and even stacked. There are later also drones to transport goods between hubs. There are planetary and interplanetary/interstellar hubs. You can and will need to transport goods between multiple planets. This outstanding feature sets it apart from other games of the genre and I find it nicely done.

You can stack some buildings including storage warehouses on top of each-other. There is no need to make additional connections between the stories. The statistics show well how much goods and power are produced and used.

I would love, if flora would grow back after harvesting. There are so far no fauna and no aliens. So, if you like to shoot bugs and have a tower-defense like experience, it is not to be found here. I hardly miss critters, as an animal or alien attack on planet A while you are constructing a new factory on planet B would maybe be a bit too much to handle. On the other hand building a defense grid may be another interesting layer of gameplay.

Until now there is now multiplayer. This may be an option for the future.

I can only say, that I really enjoy the experience and have a hard time deciding if I prefer Factorio, Satisfactory, Dyson Sphere Program, or maybe even Riftbreaker for more action. In fact all of these games are very good in their own right and it is worth playing all of them. Sometimes it is busy, sometimes you can sit back for a moment and relax watching your factories to manufacture or journey through space and discover new planets. The only constraint may be your time budget to spend on games. haha For the current price you cannot go wrong, as it is definitely worth a buy.

This is my favourite prison themed game, when it comes to strategy, simulation, building, and management. I tried a few othre games with a similar theme, especially trying to escape a prison. Well, I haven't tried that yet in Prison Architect, but it is actually even more interesting to test one's own walls. The game is sandbox enough to play out a big variety of scenarios. There is a starting tutorial like scenario with a short story to get the player introduced into the game and its concepts. The story is ok, but actually just to illustrate the starting scenario. You can continue to play with the prison you started with after the story ends, or build a new place from scratch. The full power in this game shines, when you build your own prison and start to manage and grow it step by step.

Graphics is low-fi and resembles a little bit Rimworld (also very recommendable game). The sound is good, events are great and the reaction of the prisoners and guards are quite believable. Also typical scenarios while building and optimizing the prison are great fun. I got all DLCs, and would say they are good additions, but the vanilla game is very enjoyable to start with. If given a choice, I would first get Psych Ward, then Going Green, then maybe Island and second chances. Yeah, you can build Alcatraz on an island, but actually I haven't gone there yet. I currently enjoy dealing with the crazies, as they require special attention...

So there it is: My short opinion on this great game. It also lets one ponder about humanity and human behavior. Make a harsh prison, or have a TV, soccer table and some recreation? (Less punishing prison then, but also more calm residents...)

This is a nice little rogue-like space sim. Your ship is fleeing from the evil empire until you reach a final battle. You manage your crew by manning stations, fighting fires or intruders, or even enter other ships. You also manage the main stations like pilot, weapons, shields, life support, etc. The story is simple, but there are always some random encounters on the way, some helpful, some dangerous.
Sound and music are nice and have a retro feel to them reminding me of my old C64. Graphics are also retro, but fitting and well made lo-fi and lo-res. Good fun to play and worth a buy.

Murder on Eridanos is the bigger story DLC of the two offered - speaking content wise. I spent more time in it with more NPCs and a unique method to find new clues. The story is less linear and left me sometimes confused about which clues are meaningful to pursue. On the other hand Eridanos is big with side quests, and quite a few characters. The story fits well into the Outer Worlds universe and while it is totally independent from the main story line, you will get some feedback on your actions when you finish the game.

If you were to choose which DLC to get, this one gives you more content for your cash if you ask me. On the other hand I had to walk more and trace back my steps a few times before I could solve the mystery of the murder. If you like a bit more multifaceted story, where not all is black and white, if you enjoy story twists with surprise reveals, you will enjoy this one. It is recommendable for full price. During a sale, you have actually no excuse to skip this unless you didn't enjoy the main game.

Good content DLC with unique story and new items. Peril on Gorgon is a DLC add-on, which includes a fresh story in Halcyon. It fits well into the overall setting. It is optional for finishing the main story line. If you do play it through, however, you can also get a feedback on your action at the end of the whole game.

With this in mind I started the quest given and experienced a gritty new world in Halcyon worth exploring. This story is more about uncovering a terrible secret affecting all of Halcyon, which fits into the picture of the whole. Multiple choices and as far as I understand three possible endings are included.

When comparing Peril on Gorgon with Murder on Eridanos, I would say, that it has a little bit smaller scale of exploring and NPCs, but on the other hand I found the story a bit more straight forward and enjoyable. It has also a possible turning point, but not as much a plot surprise than Murder on Eridanos. I definitely enjoyed it, and it is worth a buy - especially during a sale. In fact in a sale I would recommend both.

Gunpoint is a small puzzle game with a short storyline. There are muliple possibilities to solve a puzzle, and it is more entertaining than quite a few other games with a mix of action and riddles. You can let out your mischievious or brutal side, as well as try to kill as few enemies as possible. This game is short. I am not sure about replayability, although you can replay levels and try to improve your performance and tactics. Yet it remains a bit minimalistic and short. For the relatively low price surely worth a buy, and during sale a steal.
Graphics are pixel-art, story is funny although short, music is nice.
