This game quickly became my favourite game this year, and its quietly sleeping under everyone noses. I have played games like subnautica, raft, sunkenland, planet crafter, etc, so i know my survival games. I still havent finished, but im enjoying every stage so far. Im playing in easy mode and i already micro manage a lot, so those on harder difficulties, get ready for a survival challenge

1- the lore. You begin the game as a crew member in a Spanish fleet, in the conquistador era. Ponce de Leon is searching for the fountain of youth, but something happens, and everyone shipwrecks. you awaken near bird island, and very quickly you encounter some ancient ruins of a south american civilisation. The main way of interacting with the story would be by either finding more of these ruins, where you can find murals revealing what happened to the previous islanders; or by chasing the trail of the survivors of the shipwreck and getting closer to the fountain of youth. you will find potions and skillbooks that can help you, as well as some of the water of the fountain. Overall non intrusive, but rich

2- Gameplay. Graphics are a bit stylised similar to subnautica i'd say. the gameplay is 60% surviving, 50% base building, being true to his genre. The gameplay reminds me of a mix between "raft" and "the lone dark", and basically you'll have 5 groups of islands to explore. you will have to explore each region and settle there, create machines like water machines and fire pits to survive, unlike some games where you create 1 main base and keep coming back to your base. each group of island is big and requires a lot of exploration to grab each needed resource. so far, i feel like each area gives you a lot of "bang for your buck"

3- Survival. You will manage normal resources like hunger, thirst and sleep. On top of that you can develop conditions that can aggravate if not dealt with. Wounds, diseases, venom's, overheating, etc. in the beginning they can feel a bit punishing, but as you perform "survival tasks" which revolve around building everything possible, you will gain "survival points" that allow you to upgrade your resource management. get sick less often, takes longer to get hungry, you sleep cures diseases, etc. In easy difficulty, once upgraded, you will truly be in easy mode since your resources hardly fall.
You also have to handle wildlife which can be somewhat challenging since good attacks cost stamina, which is not cheap. avoid dealing with multiple enemies. Be aware of pests (scorpions/spiders) since they are very hard to see, and if you step on them, they crawl up your body and bite you. None of them feel very threatening or scary, but be aware of potential phobias Overall engaging, but sometimes it can feel a bit too much. you can waste a lot of your day just moving through animal filled areas.

4- Building. Be prepared for a lot of building. Be prepared for a lot of gathering. Focus on finding a reliable way of finding food and fresh water. You may depend on coconuts and rain for the first week or so until you find more materials and new blueprints. Carpenter bench will also be crucial as you need wood logs to build your base. Resources respawn after a while, depending on your difficulty, so it acts as a soft cap for how much you can advance. Some resources only spawn in specific places in specific islands so be sure to take mapping tools. this is also relevant for underwater resources, which can be challenging. take mapping tools to the rocky islands on the sea. you will need these resources later.

Special shout out to one of the game devs who helped me with the only bug i found so far. I jumped into discord, asked for help, and he Pm'ed me on the same day for some assistance, and fixed the bug, including it on the next patch. This game needs more support since you can feel that its a work of love. There is so much to do, and i keep playing just 5 more minutes because i cannot get enough of it. After 25h, it still feels like im just looking at the tip of the iceberg

would give it a solid 9/10

Terraria is a game that start's very simple kinda like Minecraft but when you dive more in to the game and get arround the first bosses you realise that this is much more than Minecraft, complex and fun farming, NPC's that you must create house, different and creative bosses, pretty cool weaponry and much more!

alright so i am a major far cry fan, so it costs me to say this

dont buy this game right now. its not worth it. buy it on sale

Pros:
-you really feel like you are in the stone age
-the world feels alive with many animals going around their bussiness, hunting, grazing and going around their lives
-the owl seems cool, although it may become gamebreaking overpower after you get berserker bombs
-many upgrades, although some of them dont do a thing (some lvl 2 huts just give exp bonus, no real reward for the upgrade)

cons:
- stealth is so awful, it might has well not exist at all. you will find yourself many times hidden in a bush at long range at night, and the enemy can still find you like you were has bright has the sun. a srly downfall for a game that rewards stealth
-your pets become a pain in the ass has the game goes over. big blocky hit boxes will block your way on tight caves, they will reveal your position to the enemy by jumping on them without a command and long heal animations gets real old real fast, and you will need to heal them a lot, especially when you want to ride them.
- pets feel very gray, like they were all the same, despite the description, all they do is jump enemies when you dont want to, and die. taming them is easy, throw bait and press E. IMO it would be better if we had a special building to help tame pets, but no, 2 buttons is enough
- quests degrade has you advance, first quests are awesome and mistic, final quests are "go there and kill everyone"

you can still have fun with this game, but not at this price, you are better off waiting for a sale if you really want this game
