re: Steam Marines.

Played it for a bit. It's okay. It's sort of like a really retro very stripped down version of X-COM remade as a tactical rogue-like. You get named marines who can die and be replaced ala X-Com: Enemy Within. That's supposed to make you attached to them and feel the loss if they die but there's not really a story (yet?) so, eh.

Speaking of which there's really no campaign as far as I can tell but it's still early access so that may get added at some point, not really sure.

It's pretty simplistic but for what it's supposed to be I think it does a good enough job. It's just nothing spectacular (yet?).

If you've got an itch for a tactical rogue-like and are more in it for the gameplay than a campaign it might fit the bill. Otherwise I'd wait and see how it pans out later in the development cycle.

Not a bad game by any means just not exceptional to me at the moment.

Now the newly released (on Steam) Valdis Story is a game I can rave about on the other hand.
