Minor Plot Spoilers, nothing that isn't mentioned on the store page.

I would start writing this review by comparing it to the popular episodic series from TellTale, but it wouldn't do it justice. This game hasn't just taken what TellTale does and turned it into something unique, this game by itself stands as a testament to the genre.

Episode 1 of this game had me captivated from the get-go. It has a strong opening even if I was skeptical about it. The art style sold me over the course of the episode. In the beginning you could think the graphics are too simplistic and don't achieve anything substantial. But it's charm comes from it's simple style, and each shot you see looks beautiful in the amazing lighting this game has. It feels like you're playing inside a painting, with soft and vibrant colours. Life is Strange also boasts some of the most perfect music, as each piece fits the situation you're placed in.

The story, which is what the bulk of people thinking about buying this game will care about. You're placed in the shoes of Max, who is a shy, reclusive and socially awkward teenager at a school full of stereotypes. You have rich-kids, jocks, cheerleaders, hipsters, nerds and bullies. In the midst of this completely typical school, Max disocvers she can rewind time. At this point it is sounding like the beginning to a teen fiction novel, however, Max is slowly drawn into the politics of the school, and the darker and grittier side of the school keeps you intrigued. Everyone seems to have a secret and there are things you witness that you don't understand. The satisfaction of this game comes from searching for answers. Whether or not the answers are as satisfying as the search will remain to be seen, but uncovering secrets one by one while also learning about Max's past relationships in the town of Arcadia is what I imagine the bulk of the rest of the game will be, and I can't wait to play episode 2 in March.
