Magic! ;-) No it's simply an account option. Lower right in the app, click "View Friends List" and select your status. I typically have my account set as showing 'offline' when I'm working then turn it back to 'online' when I have time for live chat.

Actually i think it was due to my internet connection at the time, cause i seem to have found a work around, and it involved my internet. Thanks for responding though (even though i forgot about it already XD).

Ah, sorry Mind_Swept I never saw your message! My profile comments are probably not the greatest place to post these questions as I never check here, but that's okay.

Almost all problems we've encountered with WS have to do with Steam itself. That's not to say it can't be the sim, but generally these problems fix themselves when whatever network issue, emergency maintenance or other issue has been resolved on Valve's end.

I realize it's been the better half of a month since your post so I hope the issue has been resolved. But if it has not then Please! reply here, or to the forums, and I will inquire about what else may be causing it.
